Raiders, Broncos final Week 11 injury report: WR Davante Adams (abdomen) Questionable

Davante Adams (abdomen) and LT Kolton Miller both Questionable for Raiders vs Broncos

Wide receiver is a big question mark for both the Raiders and Broncos as they are set to meet this Sunday. The Raiders were without two of their top three receivers already with Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow both on injured reserve. They top receiver, Davante Adams is Questionable for this week with an abdomen injury. Leaving only Mack Hollins as a sure bet to play.

The Broncos will be without two of their top four receivers with Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler both ruled OUT for the game. A third of those top four is Questionable with Kendall Hinton dealing with a shoulder injury. Leaving only Courtland Sutton for sure playing.

Also OUT for the Broncos are FB/TE Andrew Beck (hamstring), and CB K’Waun Williams (wrist/elbow/knee). Questionable are LB Baron Browning (hip), OL Tom Compton (back), T Cameron Fleming (quad), and G Graham Glasgow (shoulder).

For the Raiders, LT Kolton Miller (shoulder/abdomen), LB Denzel Perryman, and LB Luke Masterson are all Questionable.

PFF sends Vikings a cornerback in latest trade proposal

PFF has the Vikings trading for a cornerback that happens to be an old friend of Ed Donatell

The Minnesota Vikings could very easily be active at the trade deadline. We have explored the possibility of adding quite a few different positions, especially wide receiver. One position that we have also hypothesized about is cornerback and the analysts agree.

In a recent article for PFF, Brad Spielberger sent the Vikings cornerback K’Waun Williams from the Denver Broncos in exchange for a fifth round pick that would be conditional with the condition being that it would turn into the Vikings compensatory pick that they are currently projected to receive.

Spielberger went in-depth on the decision, including the link between Williams and Vikings defensive coordinator Ed Donatell.

“The Vikings currently have the league’s worst grade for defenders lined up in the slot (43.8), and Williams has a proven track record over the past decade of consistent play in all facets, grading above 60.0 as a run-defender and in coverage for every season of his career beyond his rookie campaign.

The Vikings and Broncos are first and third, respectively, in percent of coverage snaps lined up in Cover 6, with Vikings defensive coordinator Ed Donatell holding that position in Denver last season. Both defenses are zone coverage-heavy, so Williams should transition seamlessly. Broncos general manager George Paton was the assistant general manager for the Vikings for almost a decade, another connection between the two clubs that have already traded with each other since he made the move out west in 2021.”

This move could be very fruitful for the Vikings and at a minor cost. Chandon Sullivan has been really bad for the Vikings and upgrading that spot in the slot will be a big addition to the Vikings defense.

Report: Former 49ers CB K’Waun Williams joining Broncos

K’Waun Williams is leaving the #49ers after five very good seasons.

The 49ers secondary is going to look a lot different next season. With cornerback Charvarius Ward officially signed, the openings on the roster have started closing. Now slot corner K’Waun Williams is headed to Denver on a two-year deal per Pro Football Network’s Mike Kaye.

Williams, 30, joined the 49ers in 2017 and quickly became a mainstay in their secondary, playing in 65 games across his five seasons in red and gold. He racked up 224 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, four interceptions and 17 pass breakups.

There weren’t many players on San Francisco’s defense over the last five years that were as consistently good as Williams.

However, the writing was on the wall for his exit when the 49ers re-signed him on a one-year deal last offseason before drafting two cornerbacks. When they signed Ward this offseason it looked like Williams would be the odd man out with Ward, Emmanuel Moseley and Ambry Thomas holding down the three CB spots.

Williams is the second 49ers defender to head to the Broncos this year. Defensive lineman DJ Jones also went to the Mile High City on a three-year deal early in free agency.

6 key players who can deliver a Wild Card weekend underdog upset

The Raiders and Cardinals need strong performances from their secondary pass rushers.

The playoffs are here! Wild Card weekend is right around the corner and the teams that are underdogs are going to need excellent performances to upset their opponents and head to the second round of the playoffs.

While victory is going to be tough for these teams, they each have players that can help their causes with a big time performance on the biggest stage (so far) of the season.

Whether it’s a pass rusher or a cornerback or even an offensive linemen, some quality players will have a chance to make a name for themselves as their teams try to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

49ers place 4 on COVID-19 list, re-sign RB Brian Hill to practice squad

The #49ers placed four players on the COVID-19 list, including three defensive backs.

The 49ers on Monday announced a wave of additions to the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Four players, including cornerbacks Dontae Johnson and K’Waun Williams, free safety Jimmie Ward, and running back Raheem Mostert were all placed on the COVID-19 list following Monday’s testing. San Francisco also re-signed running back Brian Hill to their practice squad and released punter Colby Wadman.

Having shortages in an already thin secondary going into a must-win game vs. the Los Angeles is a suboptimal situation for the 49ers, but the new NFL health and safety protocols would allow the trio of defensive backs to clear in time for Sunday’s game. Punter Mitch Wishnowsky followed that track last week to return for the matchup with the Texans.

For Mostert he just won’t be around the facility in the lead up to Sunday’s game. He’s on injured reserve after having surgery to repair a knee injury he suffered in the season opener.

The players working through health and safety protocols will be worth keeping a close eye on throughout the week. The 49ers aren’t particularly deep at cornerback and there’s no guarantee injured CB Emmanuel Moseley will be back from a high ankle sprain. San Francisco could go into SoFi Stadium with Josh Norman (who was benched last week) and rookie third-round pick Ambry Thomas starting outside with rookie fifth-round pick Deommodore Lenoir operating out of the slot.

San Francisco along with the COVID-19 list additions made a swap on their practice squad by re-adding Hill and letting go of Wadman. Hill gives the club some internal running back depth after spending a few weeks in Santa Clara while Elijah Mitchell was hurt. Wadman signed ahead of Week 17 as insurance in case Wishnowsky couldn’t clear health and safety protocols.

WATCH: Bizarre K’Waun Williams interception keeps Seahawks out of end zone

The #49ers’ got a bizarre INT from K’Waun Williams to hold the Seahawks out of the end zone.

The 49ers couldn’t have started the second half in Seattle worse than they did. Travis Benjamin fumbled the opening kickoff and the Seahawks recovered deep in 49ers territory. On a third-and-4 from the 5, Russell Wilson hit tight end Gerald Everett in the hands, but Everett tipped it in the air right to K’Waun Williams who snagged it for the 49ers’ second takeaway of the game.

The world was robbed of K’Waun Williams’ incredible Butt INT due to a 49ers penalty

Too bad!

We have seen Butt Fumbles in NFL history (sorry to bring it up again, Mark Sanchez, but there was also the Butt Fumble Recovery!).

We’ve even seen seen a play known as the Butt Pick last season.

But this Butt Interception? It could have been better than them all (actually, maybe just second to the Butt Fumble, that thing was amazing).

In the fourth quarter, with the San Francisco 49ers blowing out the Los Angeles Rams, Niners CB K’Waun Williams batted a Matthew Stafford pass out of the air, fell to the ground, put out his hand and … caught the ball with his hand AND BUTT!

Alas. There was a flag on the play for pass interference. And the Butt INT was wiped out.

K’Waun Williams’ posterior interception is sadly negated by penalty

49ers cornerback K’waun Williams intercepted a pass with his butt that was sadly wiped out with a penalty.

There are rules that needed to be added to football. Every penalty should be reviewable. No big man touchdown should ever be negated by any penalty. And if you catch an interception with your butt, as 49ers cornerback K’Waun Williams did against Matthew Stafford and the Rams on Monday night, the refs should have to throw any pass interference penalty right out the window.

But of course, the No Fun League did not prepare for this contingency, so the interception that Williams brought in on a Stafford attempt to Cooper Kupp with 9:04 left in the game, and the 49ers already up, 31-7. Williams got handsy with Kupp off the line of scrimmage outside the five-yard area, deflected the pass, and then somehow brought it in with one of the more unconventional techniques we’ve ever seen.

We’re guessing they don’t teach this in DB School.

In any event, this is where you pick up the flag and congratulate Williams on the epic athletic event.

49ers CB K’Waun Williams questionable to return with calf injury

#49ers CB K’Waun Williams (calf) is questionable to return vs. the Packers.

It’s another rough start for the 49ers. The Packers jumped out to a 10-0 lead, and starting nickel cornerback K’Waun Williams exited the contest with a calf injury in the first quarter. He’s officially questionable to return.

Williams allowed a 43-yard completion on the Packers’ first series. Rookie Deommodore Lenoir is his likely replacement. Lenoir started the first two games outside, but Emmanuel Moseley’s return moved him to a reserve role. Lenoir was drafted to play inside and he spent some time there during camp.
