According to reports, OL Kris Phillips will be withdrawing his name from the transfer portal and returning to MSU

Offensive lineman Kristian Phillips, or known by his nickname ‘Big Dooley’, entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal last week, but now, it appears that the Spartans will not be losing their offensive lineman.

Phillips is a massive offensive lineman, standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 315 pounds. Sources tell Spartans Wire that Phillips was progressing very nicely through his redshirt freshman season.

Kris Phillips signs NLI to Michigan State football

The first commit of MSU’s 2022 recruiting class has inked his NLI to Michigan State!

The first commitment in the 2022 recruiting class was Georgia native Kris Phillips. The Spartans beat out Arizona State for the commitment oh Phillips and now, he has made it official, signing his national letter of intent.

Player Profile

Position: Offensive Line

Height/Weight: 6’4″/350 pounds

Hometown: Conyers, Georgia

High School: Salem High School

247Sports Composite ranking: 3-Star, No. 1,027 nationally

Analysis: At 6-foot-4 and 350 pounds, Phillips is a massive force on the offensive line, and will have the size and strength to play both the tackle and guard spots. I project him to be a guard, but it could go either way. How Phillips reacts to the strength and conditioning program will play a huge role in his development at MSU.

Stay tuned to Spartans Wire for all of your signing day coverage!

Michigan State Football has some serious power coming their way. MSU 2022 3-star commit Kristian “Big Dooley” Phillips is an absolute monster of a man, standing at 6’4″ and weighing 310 pounds.

This week, he showed off his size and power in a 2-on-1 drill where he ended up dragging the other two players on the ground like they were children.

Phillips plays for Salem High School in Conyers, Georgia and is the No. 10 ranked offensive guard in the 2022 class by Rivals. The Spartans were in on his recruitment very early, and he recently was intereviewed by SpartansWire writer Cory Linsner about how relationships led to his decision to commit to MSU.

Mel Tucker started Michigan State’s 2022 recruiting class with a bang, gaining the commitment from Kristian Phillips, an offensive guard out of Georgia.

Phillips was unranked at the time of his commitment, but that has since changed. The Rivals recruiting network has given Phillips his first ranking from the recruiting services, and he now sits as the no. 10 overall offensive guard in the nation.

Phillips will have this upcoming summer and his senior season to further boost his ranking. Coach Chris Kapilovic identified Phillips early in the process and it is proving to be a big-time get for the Spartans.

SpartansWire talked with Phillips earlier this year on what led him to choose the Spartans.

I think that Mel Tucker knew that his new Michigan State Football fanbase needed some positive news this weekend.

After putting the finishing touches on his 2021 recruiting class, it looks like coach Tucker is ready to get started on his 2022 class. His first commit? Offensive guard Kristian “Big Dooley” Phillips.

The Spartans offered Phillips back in August and that offer bore fruit for MSU on Sunday when Phillips announced his commitment on Twitter.

Phillips, who is from Conyers, Georgia, is currently unranked by 247Sports and only has Division I offers from Arizona State and Delaware State, but this looks to be a situation where offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic saw something he liked in the Salem High School lineman and wanted to secure his commitment early. That very likely could be related to his size. Phillips is 6’4″, 310-pounds, fitting the profile of the type of player the Spartans have been recruiting under Tucker.

Here is Phillips’ commitment announcement:
