Alabama Softball outlasts Samford 3-2 in low scoring game

No. 7 Alabama defeated Samford 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon. The Tide improved to 7-2 on the new season.

The Alabama softball team defeated Samford in a highly-contested in-state battle. The Tide pulled through 3-2 in Wednesday’s matchup against the Bulldogs.

Kristen White, Bailey Dowling, and Kenleigh Cahalan led the way offensively. The three combined to have five hits and drove in two of Alabama’s three wins.

Jaala Torrence picked up the win in the circle. She came in relief of Alabama starting pitcher Alex Salter. Torrence pitched three scoreless innings, allowing no runs, and striking out two batters.

Alabama improved to 7-2 on the new season while the Bulldogs fell to 2-7.

Alabama is scheduled to host a tournament over the weekend. The three teams slated to make the trip to Tuscaloosa are Kennesaw State, Southeastern Louisiana, and Indiana State.

The Tide will start the tournament off against Kennesaw State on Friday. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. CST.
