NBA Twitter reacts to Klay Thompson’s game-winning shot vs. Kings

After Klay Thompson knocked down a game-winning jumper against the Kings, NBA Twitter exploded with reactions on Wednesday night.

Through the first five games of the 2023-24 NBA season, the Golden State Warriors have already met the Sacramento Kings twice. Each of the playoff rematches between the Northern California rivals has provided early-season fireworks.

After each team traded buckets throughout the night, a late Steph Curry bucket and clutch defense on the other side of the court gave the Warriors the chance to win late.

While the Kings’ blitzed Curry, Klay Thompson came to the rescue. With time running off the clock, the veteran sharpshooter swished a game-winning step back jumper from the top of the key with 1.1 seconds remaining.

Following Thompson’s game-winning jumper, the Warriors sealed their fourth straight win in five games, 102-101.

Thompson finished with 14 points on 6-of-15 shooting from the field with two assists and two rebounds in 29 minutes. Curry led the Warriors with 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the floor with four made triples.

After Thompson’s game-winner against the Kings, the NBA community on Twitter exploded with reactions. Here’s a look at what fans and analysts were saying on Wednesday night.

Following a historic 11-game streak with 32 or more points coming to a close in a loss to the Washington Wizards, Steph Curry got back on track with 32 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the floor with eight rebounds against the Nuggets. Curry will have the chance for another streak on Sunday against the Kings.

Along with Curry leading the scoring attack, Draymond Green is coming off an impressive passing performance. The three-time All-Star forward matches his career-high with 19 assists against Denver on Friday.

Curry led the Warriors with 30 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the field with nine rebounds and eight assists in 31 minutes.

After struggling to find the bottom of the net to start the season, the Warriors shot 52% from the field as a unit against the Kings with 23 triples from beyond the arc.
