The best photos from Kentucky’s victory over Florida on Saturday

Looking at the best images from Kentucky’s SEC victory over the Florida Gators.

Kentucky basketball opened up its SEC season on Saturday by beating the Florida Gators 106 – 100 in an exciting game. It was a fast-paced game, with terrific shooting, as expected, and the Wildcats just managed to do enough to hold on.

Florida got out in front early on in the game, but Kentucky stormed back and led by 10 at the half. In the second half, the Gators got it within one a couple of times, and kept it close. However, the Cats had an answer every time and got the win.

Koby Brea led six Wildcats in double figures with 23 points. He was 7-of-9 from three-point range. Lamont Butler added 19 points and 8 assists. Amari Williams was also very good, with 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists.

The game was a fun one for fans to watch, and produced a number of great pictures. Here are some of the best images taken from Kentucky’s big win.

Kentucky opens SEC play with a big win over Florida

Kentucky basketball opened SEC play by beating the sixth ranked Florida Gators.

Kentucky basketball opened SEC play on Saturday, and immediately faced a tough test against an undefeated Florida Gators team. It was the 11th ranked Wildcats who walked out with the victory, though. They rode an offensive explosion to a 106-100 win.

Florida jumped out to an early lead, but as has been the pattern, Kentucky went on a 13-0 to get ahead. They led 52-42 at halftime.

In the second half, it was the Gators who made a run. They closed the gap to a single point a few times, and then to within two with four minutes to play. A Lamont Butler three pointer extended the lead, though, and Florida couldn’t get close again.

The Wildcats were paced by Koby Brea, who had 23 points and made 7-of-9 from three-point range. He was one of six who score in double figures for Kentucky. Butler was fantastic once again, adding 19 points and 8 assists. Amari Williams had 15 points and 8 rebounds.

Overall, it was a great team effort, and a big win for Mark Pope and the Wildcats team. Kentucky made nearly 60% of their shots overall and hit almost 50% of their three-pointers.

Up next for the Cats is the Georgia Bulldogs. That game will be on Tuesday and will be Kentucky’s first conference road game of the season.

The best photos from Kentucky’s loss to Florida on Saturday

Here are the best images from the Kentucky football loss to Florida on Saturday.

The Kentucky football team went into Saturday night’s game with the Florida Gators hoping to get back over .500, and get their bowl game chances back on track. The left the game with a blowout loss and more questions than answers.

Once again, the Wildcats offense struggled to score points. Outside of one long pass to Barion Brown, quarterback Brock Vandagriff wasn’t able to generate big plays, and the running game wasn’t enough to carry them.

The defense, which has been solid this season, wasn’t at their best either on Saturday. They surrendered 48 points, and just weren’t able to get stops when they needed them. Florida’s Freshman quarterback D.J. Lagway only needed seven completions to amass over 250 yards, as the Kentucky defense offered little resistance.

The pictures from the game tell the story of Florida doing whatever they wanted against Kentucky. Here are the best photos from the game.

Kentucky falls under .500 with a blowout loss to Florida

Kentucky suffered a blowout loss to Florida on Saturday night, dropping their record to 3 – 4.

The 2024 Kentucky football season has been an up and down one so far, and lately, more down than up. After falling to Vanderbilt last week in a sloppy performance, the Wildcats weren’t able to bounce back, and lost a second straight game, this one to the Florida Gators 48 – 20.

The Kentucky offense struggled once again, as it has all year. Quarterback Brock Vandagriff found Barion Brown for a long touchdown in the first half, but overall, he was inefficent, going 12-of-26 for 165 yards. He also had two interceptions.

On the other side of the ball, a Wildcats defense that had been very good all season, was torched for 476 total yards and 48 points. Florida Freshman D.J. Lagway started at quarterback and completed only seven passes, but they went for 259 yards.

Kentucky’s record now stands at 3 – 4, and a trip to a ninth straight bowl game is in serious jeopardy. They will now have to beat one of Louisville, the Tennessee Volunteers, or the Texas Longhorns to get to six wins.

The Auburn Tigers are up next, and they are struggling this season as well. It is now a must-win game for Kentucky or the season is basically over.

The loss to Florida snapped a three-game winning streak over the Gators.

Staff prediction for Kentucky football’s matchup with Florida

Here is the UKWildcatsWire staff prediction for the Kentucky football game with Florida on Saturday.

Kentucky football looks to bounce back this week after a shocking loss to Vanderbilt. The loss dropped them to 3 – 3, and 1 – 3 in SEC play. Defensively, they’ve been excellent, but the offense has struggled mightily all season.

The Florida Gators are up next for Kentucky. They are also 3 – 3 this season, and have looked strong at times. At other times, however, they’re inconsistent and look like a bottom of the conference team. They enter the game with the Wildcats without their starting quarterback, instead leaning on talented Freshman D.J. Lagway.

It’s a game that could go either way. Kentucky has won their last three meetings, but if the offense goes missing again, they won’t have a chance.

Here is the prediction from UKWildcatsWire:

Vance Meek – Lead Writer:

Florida 24 – Kentucky 13

Kentucky’s defense can keep them in any game, as they have proven all season. However, the offense is just struggling to put up points. The playcalling is conservative, possibly to try and make it easier on quarterback Brock Vandagriff, but it’s not working.

The Wildcats will need to open up the offense, and make some plays down the field. If Vandagriff isn’t capable of doing it, they may need to go with the backup.

Kentucky vs Florida Game Preview

Why Florida Will Win

The Gators are making a push.

They might have some work to do to get into the NCAA Tournament mix, but they’re looking and playing the part with four straight wins and seven of their last nine.

What’s going right? Being at home for a few weeks has helped, but the defense is stepped it up with a whole lot of steals and big stops. It’s doing a great job at stopping the three and it’s keeping games low scoring and manageable.

There are a whole lot of blocked shots and a good inside presence to at least battle with Kentucky on the inside. If the D is working like it’s supposed to and the threes are dropping – the Gators have hit ten or more in four of their last five games – they’ll hang in this.

However …

Why Kentucky Will Win

You can’t beat Kentucky if you don’t do a lot on the boards.

It’s partly a function of the team’s style, but Florida is last in the SEC in total rebounds and it doesn’t get enough control on the defensive glass. Kentucky destroys teams when it owns the rebounding margin, which is almost always.

Even when it doesn’t, it’s still winning – Alabama and South Carolina did way too good a job on the offensive boards.

Florida has come up with double-digit offensive rebounds just once in the last ten games. That’s not going to get it done considering UK has been a bear at stopping the three.

What’s Going To Happen

Kentucky is a bad, bad mix of things for Florida.

The Gators are good defensively on the inside, but it’s got to hit threes to win, and it’s not going to do enough. Combine that with the lack of rebounding – and Kentucky’s 14-0 record at home – and it’ll be a tough hill to climb.

Florida won’t be a pushover, but the defense won’t be enough.

Week 5 SEC Power Rankings: Kentucky, Auburn on the move

Week five in the SEC was tumultuous.

There were some unexpected things happening in the SEC this weekend.

Georgia started off Saturday with a 37-0 demolishing of No. 8 Arkansas without quarterback JT Daniels. Missouri’s defense is worse than we thought. The Tigers gave up 62 points in a blowout loss to Tennessee. Alabama ran away from Ole Miss after some questionable decisions made by Lane Kiffin early. Kentucky beat No. 10 Florida in Lexington for the first time in 35 years. No. 15 Texas A&M lost at home to Mississippi State. Auburn beat LSU in Baton Rouge for the first time since 1999. And Vandy vs UConn was a down-to-the-wire 30-28 thriller in favor of the Commodores. Streaks were broken, blowouts were had, and Vanderbilt somehow won. What a weekend.

Here are the SEC power rankings after a tumultuous week five in the Southeastern Conference.
