Kentucky at Florida picks and predictions

Prediction

Kentucky 70, Florida 65

Moneyline

AVOID.

Kentucky (-140) may look enticing as a moneyline play, especially coming off a win against Tennessee. However, Florida is 9-4 straight up at home.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Against the spread

LEAN KENTUCKY -2.5 (-110).

The Wildcats have been rolling as of late, and the Gators haven’t been great ATS at home.

Florida is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games, 4-6 ATS as an underdog this season and just 7-6 ATS at home. The Cats are 4-1 ATS over their last 5 road games as well.

Kentucky also matches up well and the size to limit F Colin Castleton, the Gators’ leading scorer. Back KENTUCKY -2.5 (-110).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 140.5 (-115).

The Wildcats have been better offensively as of late, and are 6-1 O/U in their last 7 outings. At this total though, they haven’t been great this season. They are 5-6 O/U with a total that closed at 140.5 or more points. The Gators, on the other hand, are 7-7 O/U in conference play and 4-6 O/U as an underdog.

Given that the size that both teams possess should counter the top scorers (Castleton for Florida and C Oscar Tshiebwe for Kentucky), back UNDER 140.5 (-115).

Kentucky at Florida odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Kentucky at Florida odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The 20th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats (1-0) travel to Gainesville to face the No. 19  Florida Gators (1-0) in both teams’ first SEC action of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Kentucky vs. Florida odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

(Rankings courtesy of the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports)

Kentucky easily handled Miami-Ohio last week in a 37-13 victory. QB Will Levis posted 303 yards and 3 touchdowns through the air, while WR Tayvion Robinson caught 6 passes for 136 yards. The ‘Cats found success on special teams too, with WR/KR Barion Brown returning one to the house. The Wildcats will need to be better on 3rd down this week though, going a measly 2-for-8 last week on 3rd-down conversions.

As for the Gators, they’re coming off an impressive 29-26 home win against then-No. 8 ranked Utah, securing the victory with a last-play interception in the end zone by LB Amari Burney. First-round draft hopeful and a dark horse for the Heisman, QB Anthony Richardson threw for 168 yards and rushed for 106 yards with 3 touchdowns. His versatility is the key to Gators’ success this week and throughout the season. RB Montrell Johnson tacked on 75 rushing yards with a TD.

Kentucky at Florida picks and predictions

Prediction

Florida 31, Kentucky 28

Money line

Last week, Kentucky struggled to stop the run, yielding 11 yards on the ground to Miami-Ohio, a MAC school. Saturday, the Wildcats will need to bounce back and learn on the fly how to stop the dual-threat Robinson. Their defense should be improved with edge rusher Jordan Wright returning after sitting last week due to eligibility issues.

The Gators are coming off a momentous win as underdogs against Utah and will look to use that, paired with the energy of the home crowd, to beat the visiting Wildcats.

Last season, Kentucky went 2-3 straight up (SU) as an underdog, while Florida was 6-5 SU as a favorite.

Florida (-230) will likely prevail, but I can’t suggest backing a favorite at this price. PASS.

Against the spread

Lean KENTUCKY +5.5 (-110).

Kentucky was 8-4-1 ATS last season, whereas Florida was 2-8 ATS as a 4.5-point favorite or more a year ago. In typical SEC fashion, this will be a hard-fought game on both sides and should come down to the wire.

Kentucky should keep it close enough for us to cash a winning +5.5 (-110) ticket.

Over/Under

BET OVER 51.5 (-110).

Seven of 13 Kentucky games and 4 of 13 Florida games hit the Over last season. This will be a QB showdown between Robinson and Levis and should be a fun game to watch. Keep an eye on Robinson’s ability to use his arm if the Wildcat linebackers step up and stop the rush. Both QBs should show up under pressure for an offensive shootout.

Kentucky at Florida odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Kentucky 75, Florida 64

Money line

Kentucky (-230) is a little on the expensive side, costing nearly two and a half times your potential return.

PASS, and look to the spread.

Against the spread

KENTUCKY -4.5 (-122) will cost a little extra juice, but it’s worth the money. The Wildcats have dominated this series, winning six of the past seven meetings, and going 4-1 ATS across the past five encounters.

While the Wildcats have struggled against the number lately, UK is 4-0-1 ATS across the past five games following a non-cover. Plus, Florida is 1-4 ATS in the past five against teams with a winning record.

Over/Under

The UNDER 141.5 (-110) is the play based on the series trends.

The Under has cashed in three straight meetings, six of the past seven and eight of the previous 10 head-to-head battles between these rivals.

The Under is 7-3 in the past 10 on the road for UK, and 6-1 in the past seven against winning teams. For Florida, the Under has cashed in four of the past five against winning sides.

Kentucky at Florida: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Florida 45, Kentucky 17

Money line (ML)

Florida (-2000) is a huge money line favorite. Its offense is producing at an elite level as with nearly 45 points per game. The Gators are just the far better team and don’t lose at home.

PASS on this money line as it’s far too chalky and the payout isn’t worth the potential risk.

Against the spread (ATS)

FLORIDA -23.5 (-110) is a four-score favorite. Anytime a spread is over 21 points, it gets a little more difficult to pick given the potential for a back door cover; however, Florida has the type of offense that can score into the 40s and cover a spread like this.

Can Kentucky score into the mid-20s to stay within 23 points? Probably not. Take Florida to score a ton of points in this game and cover.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 60.5 (-110) is the smart play here given the firepower of Florida’s offense. TE Kyle Pitts is one of the most explosive players in the country and he is expected to be on the field today after missing the last two weeks. The Gators should be able to score into the mid-40s, allowing the Over to hit. If Kentucky can get into the 20s, this game could easily see 65-70 points scored.
