Keith Appling has pleaded guilty in his second-degree murder case

On Monday, former Michigan State basketball star point guard Keith Appling pleaded guilty to second-degree murder along with a firearm charge in the shooting of a Detroit man in 2021.

According to prosecutor Kym Worthy, Appling, 31, pleaded guilty in Wayne County Circuit Court to one count each of second-degree murder and felony firearms in the killing of Clyde Edmonds.

A sad story has added another sad chapter. On Tuesday, former Michigan State basketball star point guard Keith Appling was arraigned for another shooting charge, this time involving a shooting in Jackson, Michigan on May 2.

Appling, 29, was arraigned for charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm after an altercation with a female acquaintance’s ex-boyfriend. Appling is accused of shooting at the man, hitting his vehicle and grazing the victim’s arm with a bullet. The victim also shot back at him, allegedly.

Detroit Police are searching for former MSU basketball guard Keith Appling in connection to a fatal shooting in Detroit on Saturday night.

Detroit Police are searching for former Michigan State basketball guard Keith Appling in connection to a fatal shooting in Detroit on Saturday night.

Appling is a suspect in the fatal shooting of a 66-year-old man. Appling was last seen fleeing the scene in a newer model tan-colored Buick Regal.

Appling played for Michigan State from 2010-2014, where he was the team’s leading scorer during his junior season. Appling — who is from Detroit — has struggled since his Spartans’ career came to an end with multiple arrests since 2017.
