Social media reacts to 4-star wide receiver Keenan Jackson flipping from UNC to NC State.

Well, another one officially bites the dust as four-star wide receiver Keenan Jackson flipped from UNC to NC State.

Jackson announced Tuesday that he would be de-committing from UNC, and that opened a boatload of speculation, with many knowing already that NC State would be his next home. That belief became fact with Jackson taking to social media to announce he will be joining NC State with the caption, “NLI SignedIm coming home WPN!!!.”

The flip adds to the football rivalry that’s brewing between UNC and NC State, with the Wolfpack getting the better hand of the Tar Heels recently. After the announcement, social media was in a frenzy, with college football fans discussing the flip.

Keenan Jackson is the ideal wide receiver and should be a nightmare for UNC for the next three years. Let’s look at how social media reacted to Jackson’s flipping from UNC to NC State.

4-star WR decommits from UNC

Class of 2024, four-star wide receiver Keenan Jackson decommits from Tar Heels.

Four-star North Carolina wide receiver Keenan Jackson has had a change of heart.

Jackson has been committed to North Carolina for nearly six months and going into the early signing period, he has decided to recommit. The prospect took to X (Formerly Twitter) to announce he is decommitting from the program a day before he is set to sign.. He was set to be a part of the 2024 class that was top 25 in the nation and features a few other wide receiver commits.

But instead, rumors are swirling that Jackson will be flipping to NC State when he does make his decision.

The news adds salt to the open wound UNC has been hit with since the regular season ended, with key players declaring for the NFL draft and others entering the transfer portal.

UNC football commit named MVP of State Championship game

The NCHSAA Football State Championships concluded on Saturday, Dec. 9. A UNC football commit brought home MVP Honors in the 4A game.

When it comes to the most dominant high school football programs in North Carolina, Weddington High School is near the top of that list.

Weddington, an NCHSAA 4A (largest number of students) school based out of Charlotte suburb Matthews, has captured four state titles since 2016. The Warriors have also produced several high-profile college players, most notably Clemson running back Will Shipley.

On Saturday, Dec. 9 at Carter-Finley Stadium, Weddington blew out Hoggard, 56-21, to capture its fourth 4A State Championship since 2016. A future Tar Heel, infact, played a major factor in the Warriors’ victory.

Keenan Jackson, a 3-star wide receiver who’ll arrive at UNC next Fall, was named MVP of the 4A state title game with his 136-receiving yard, 3-touchdown performance.

After his explosive offensive night, Jackson ends his high school career with 3,058 receiving yards and 36 touchdowns. Championship game stats are not entered into MaxPreps yet.

Jackson will be joining a trio of in-state wideouts in Chapel Hill next year – Alex Taylor from Grimsley High School (Greensboro), Jordan Shipp from Providence Day (Charlotte) and Javarius Green from Crest High School (Shelby).

Seeing this type of production from Jackson is nothing new. He’ll be counted on extra to produce for the Tar Heels in 2024, as star transfer Devontez Walker recently declared for the NFL Draft.
