Broncos worked out 2 offensive linemen on Tuesday

The Broncos worked out center Dieter Eiselen and interior offensive lineman Keaton Sutherland on Tuesday. Eiselen joined the practice squad.

The Denver Broncos have been hit hard by injuries on the offensive line and the team brought in some reinforcements on Tuesday.

The Broncos worked out center Dieter Eiselen and interior offensive lineman Keaton Sutherland. Eiselen won the workout and he was signed to the team’s practice squad.

Sutherland (6-5, 316 pounds) is a fifth-year lineman who has spent time with six NFL teams, playing as a swing guard/center. The 27-year-old lineman has dressed for six games — including two starts — in his career. He most recently spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars last fall.

Denver sought more depth on the line after losing right tackle Alex Palczewski and center Luke Wattenberg to ankle injuries against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. The Broncos also lost practice squad offensive tackle Will Sherman to an ankle injury last week.

Eiselen was signed to provide more depth at center and Cam Fleming also joined the practice squad to provide more depth at tackle.

Jaguars announce 14 players signed to reserve/future contracts

The Jaguars made the addition of 14 players official Tuesday.

A day after the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 2023 season ended, the team signed 11 players to reserve/future deals, according to the NFL’s transaction wire.

More than a month later, the team has finally announced those signings along with a trio of other players. One of those three is kicker Riley Patterson, whose reunion with the Jaguars popped up on the transaction wire a week ago. The other two, tight end Josh Pederson and receiver Seth Williams, spent the 2023 season with Jacksonville.

Reserve/future deals, typically a minimum-salary contract, don’t count against the team’s salary cap or roster limit until the beginning of the next league year. Essentially that means those type of contracts are a way to keep players while roster limits haven’t yet been expanded back to a maximum of 90 players, which will happen when the new league year begins in March.

The notable omission from the list is running back Snoop Conner, who was picked by the Jaguars in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL draft. Here’s all 14 players who were officially added to the Jaguars’ roster Tuesday on reserve/futures contracts:

Jaguars sign 2 offensive linemen to practice squad

The Jaguars filled a couple practice squad vacancies with veteran offensive linemen.

The Jacksonville Jaguars made a few roster moves along their offensive line Monday, moving Cam Robinson to the injured reserve, sliding Chandler Brewer from the practice squad to the active roster, and adding two new players to the practice squad.

Jimmy Murray, 28, will make his return to the Jaguars practice squad where he spent the entire 2022 season. He also had previous stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, and Baltimore Ravens.

Keaton Sutherland, 26, will also join the Jaguars after last spending preseason and training camp with the Houston Texans before getting waived at the end of August. He previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers, and Washington Commanders.

The Jaguars lost an offensive lineman from the practice squad last week when the San Francisco 49ers scooped up former fourth-round draft pick Ben Bartch to add him to their active roster. The other vacancy came from the move to put Brewer on the 53-man roster.

With Robinson out of action, the Jaguars will start Walker Little at left tackle and move Ezra Cleveland into the starting lineup at left guard.

Texans bring back G Keaton Sutherland, place OT Kilian Zierer on injured reserve

The Houston Texans have signed guard Keaton Sutherland and placed rookie tackle Kilian Zierer on injured reserve.

The Houston Texans continue to tinker with their offensive line depth as they prepare for their preseason finale with the New Orleans Saints Aug. 27 at the Caesars Superdome.

The Texans signed guard Keaton Sutherland, who they previously had waived on Aug. 18.

As a corresponding move, Houston placed undrafted free agent tackle Kilian Zierer on injured reserve. The Auburn product left late in the second quarter of the 28-3 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

Report: Texans sign DL, claim G off waivers, place OL on IR

The Houston Texans added a defensive tackle, claimed a guard off waivers, and placed an undrafted rookie offensive lineman on injured reserve.

The Houston Texans addressed their defensive line and also made moves to their offensive line.

According to Aaron Wilson from KPRC-TV, the Texans signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Khalil Davis, who previously had a workout with the team. The 6-1, 308-pounder has spent the spring with the USFL’s Birmingham Stallions, winning a championship this season.

The Texans claimed Washington guard Keaton Sutherland off waivers. The Texas A&M product has appeared in six career games during his time with the Cincinnati Bengals and Miami Dolphins from 2019-21. Both of Sutherland’s career starts came in 2019 with Miami.

As a corresponding move, the Texans placed former Miami Hurricanes offensive lineman D.J. Scaife on injured reserve as he sustained a season-ending leg injury.

Commanders make moves to bolster offensive line depth

The Washington Commanders made another offensive line move Tuesday.

The Washington Commanders made two personnel moves Tuesday, attempting to strengthen their offensive line depth.

With the Commanders offensive line struggling, they signed guard Keaton Sutherland to the practice squad. To make room for Sutherland, the Commanders released center Jon Toth.

Sutherland, age 25, (6-5, 315) played his college ball at Texas A&M.

Undrafted, the Bengals signed Sutherland as a free agent before waiving him, then bringing him back in 2019. He appeared in one game, was waived, and then claimed by the Dolphins, playing in three games in the season.

Back the Bengals went Sutherland, playing in one game in both the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

The 49ers signed Sutherland in March for the 2022 season; however, the former Texas A&M Aggie was released on Sept. 13.

Toth (6-5, 310), 28, has six games of NFL experience with Washington during the 2021 season.

The former Kentucky Wildcat was in on 17 special teams snaps last season and 7 offensive snaps.

The Commanders brought in center Nick Martin two weeks ago, and he started against Dallas in Week 4.

49ers add another OL to offseason roster

The #49ers added another OL to their offseason roster.

The 49ers on Tuesday announced the addition of offensive lineman Keaton Sutherland on a reserve/future contract. Sutherland will take a spot on the 49ers’ 90-man roster with a chance to compete for a job this offseason.

The interior offensive lineman has great size at 6-5, 315 pounds, but he’s yet to make any impact in the NFL after finding his way into the league with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2019.

Since then he’s been on the Bengals practice squad and after being released his rookie year he was picked up by the Dolphins where he played in three games. Sutherland made his way back to Cincinnati in 2020 and saw action in one game that year and one game last season. In his three year career he’s played in six games with two starts.

Given the 49ers’ need for quality depth on the interior, Sutherland will have a real chance to push for a roster spot.
