Khalen Saunders used to show Chiefs teammates his high school RB highlights

Surprised by Khalen Saunders’ INT return? You wouldn’t be if you were one of his Chiefs teammates. He used to show them his high school highlights at running back:

New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Khalen Saunders delivered the play of the game on Monday Night when he intercepted Patrick Mahomes then took off. He caught the pass in the end zone and never considered going down for a touchback. Saunders returned the ball to the 35-yard line, displaying surprising athleticism.

Well, it wasn’t that surprising if you were a member of the Kansas City Chiefs from 2019 to 2022. Justin Reid revealed to Kay Adams that Saunders used to show them his high school highlight tape on a yearly basis. Adams was able to get the highlights in enough time for the two to watch it live on her show “Up and Adams.”

Saunders was smaller at the time, obviously, but not that much smaller. Reid revealed Saunders’ nickname was the minibus. How did this come up every year?

Every year, Saunders would talk about how he used to play running back and could still play offense. Of course, players were skeptical because of his weight, and every year someone would take the bait. All it took was for one vocal doubter and Saunders would pull out the tape as proof.

Reid added that “If anybody had to get a pick, I think everyone in Kansas City was happy it was him.”

Chiefs DB Justin Reid supports having significant others attend games

Kansas City #Chiefs defensive back Justin Reid supports having significant others attend games | @EdEastonJr

The Kansas City Chiefs’ undefeated 5-0 start has them atop the NFL and poised to secure the elusive three-peat Super Bowl title.

Chiefs safety Justin Reid has contributed to the last two titles and is a trusted veteran in the secondary. He appeared as a guest in a recent episode of the ‘Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams’ to give his insight on a topic many have shown interest in, especially with tight end Travis Kelce and music superstar Taylor Swift.

“Absolutely. Who doesn’t play better when they want to impress their girlfriend?” said Reid, proudly praising the importance of having significant others attend games. “Taylor (Swift), come to all the games. Taylor, keep coming,”

Reid received a fantastic surprise during the Chiefs victory on Monday Night Football over the New Orleans Saints. In a sea of fans at Arrowhead Stadium, he spotted his girlfriend Marissa Rand holding up a sign revealing that she and the Chiefs defensive back are expecting their first baby together.

The “Justin, I’m pregnant” sign and the precious moment were captured on their joint Instagram accounts on Tuesday, with Rand supplying the caption: “I heard Super Bowl babies are God’s favorite ;).”

Kay Adams praises Pat Surtain, says Broncos will make NFL playoffs

“The Broncos are going to the playoffs. And they have the best corner in the game,” Kay Adams said.

The Denver Broncos are above .500; who would have thought it? Sean Payton’s master plan to change the culture of the Broncos is coming together.

The Broncos defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 34-18 on Sunday, improving their record to 3-2 and looking like a winning franchise again.

Unbothered by a sideline spat with Payton, Bo Nix finished 19-of-27 for 206 yards and two touchdowns while completing 70.4 percent of his passes. He also rushed for a touchdown.

With Nix improving and falling into place within Payton’s offense, it prompted Kay Adams, via her Up & Adams weekday show, to make a bold claim about Denver’s postseason outlook and star cornerback Pat Surtain.

“There’s no debate here. This is the best corner in the NFL… this is our Darrelle Revis,” Adams said. “And Two things: The Broncos are going to the playoffs. And they have the best corner in the game, they have the best corner of our generation.”

Adams may not be far off, with Nix already showing some mastery of Payton’s offense and Surtain and the defense playing at an elite level. Can they sustain the momentum as the Broncos attempt to go 4-2 against the Los Angeles Chargers next week? We shall see.

Panthers great Luke Kuechly praises Xavier Legette for Week 4 performance

Panthers legend Luke Kuechly seemed awfully impressed by Xavier Legette’s performance in Week 4.

A Carolina Panthers legend is riding with rookie wideout Xavier Legette.

Former linebacker Luke Kuechly talked about his favorite cats during his weekly spot on Up & Adams today. When host Kay Adams asked Kuechly for his thoughts on yesterday’s 34-24 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, he began by praising Carolina’s 2024 first-round pick.

“I think the biggest takeaway—Xavier Legette played really well yesterday,” Kuechly said. “He had a couple drops, but that’s okay for a young guy. But he stepped up and he played like the receiver that we drafted.”

Legette, in the team’s first outing since losing veteran receiver Adam Thielen to a hamstring injury, stepped up for 66 yards and a score on six receptions. And as promised, he even trotted out ol’ Dolla Bill in end zone to celebrate the first touchdown of his NFL career.

Kuechly continued.

“His effort’s really good, his one-two’s really good,” he added. “We drafted a guy we wanted to run down the field, be fast, be physical and be a difficult guard for defensive backs.

“And watching him run his routes—I’ma go back to that glance—he pushed up on this DB, he got into his chest, he stemmed him, he snapped it off. Once that DB got behind him and he got him on his back, you’re not playing through Xavier Legette to get that ball.”

So, even in defeat, at least it’s good to know that Kuechly thinks the kid will be alright.

Rob Gronkowski predicts big bounce-back from Saints vs. Falcons

Rob Gronkowski predicts a big bounce back to success from the New Orleans Saints. He’s eager to see what they have in store for the Falcons:

The New Orleans Saints have a big fan in Rob Gronkowski. The longtime New England Patriots tight end is confident the Saints will rebound from their disappointing performance against the Philadelphia Eagles last week. He expects them to come away with a win on Sunday’s game with the Atlanta Falcons. He knows both teams well after briefly playing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to close out his career.

Gronkowski sat down with Kay Adams to share his thoughts on Week 4’s matchups, and he has high expectations for the Saints.

“I think the Saints are gonna put it on them,” Gronkowski mused, “I think the Saints, they had a bad loss last week, their offense was kind of down a little bit but they showed they can turn it up in crunch time on that final draft that they had. I think Derek Carr and Alvin Kamara, they’re going to turn it up. They’re gonna hit that switch again and they’re gonna down there and they’re gonna make some plays. The deep ball is gonna be back in play. I think they’re going to put it on the Falcons.”

He added that this wasn’t meant as a slight to the Falcons — Gronkowski simply believes the Saints are a better team that plays more complimentary football. Between their dynamic offense, shutdown defense, and effective special teams coverage, it’s easy to see why the Saints have won twice as many games as the Falcons this season. Kickoff is just hours away. We’ll find out soon whether Gronkowski made the right pick.

Luke Kuechly excited over Panthers’ Week 3 win vs. Raiders: ‘It looked easy’

You can’t blame Luke Kuechly for being a little excited over the Panthers’ Week 3 win in Las Vegas.

You can’t blame Luke Kuechly for being a bit excited about the Carolina Panthers’ Week 3 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. After all, the last time this team was any good was when they had, well, Luke Kuechly.

The former five-time First-team All-Pro joined Kay Adams for his weekly spot on Monday’s episode of Up & Adams. When asked about his victorious Panthers, Kuechly gave enormous props to head coach Dave Canales for successfully navigating through a particularly tough week.

“And then he comes back this week, he makes a very difficult call to play Andy [Dalton],” he told Adams. “And then we go into that game, and all he does with this game is just go out and we hung over 30 on the Raiders that just beat a really good Baltimore Ravens team. And we didn’t just beat ’em. We scored on seven out of 11 of our drives and it looked easy.”

Sunday’s 36-22 triumph looked pretty easy for Dalton, who threw for 317 yards and three touchdowns in his first outing since being named the team’s new starter under center. The 14th-year veteran, with that stunning performance, became the first quarterback in the NFL this season to pass for at least 300 yards and at least three scores in a game.

Kuechly, who was in attendance at Allegiant Stadium as the Panthers’ radio analyst, was probably also a little proud of the defense. Carolina recorded a season-high three sacks, picked off quarterback Gardner Minshew and held the Raiders to just 55 rushing yards.

Former Pro Bowl WR on Bills starting 2-0: ‘Didn’t see this coming’

Former Pro Bowl WR on #Bills starting 2-0: ‘Didn’t see this coming’

The Buffalo Bills have been perfect through two weeks of the 2024 NFL season, and many didn’t know that the Bills still had it in them to be among the best in the league.

We’ve already seen multiple members of the national media express their shock and surprise at what they’ve seen the Bills do through two weeks.

The latest to pivot their stance on this year’s Buffalo Bills is former NFL wide receiver DeSean Jackson. Jackson joined Kay Adams on the “Up & Adams Show” to share his surprise at the performance of Buffalo so far this season:

“I honestly didn’t see this coming,” he said. “Obviously, I knew Josh Allen was a hell of a quarterback… [but] they let go of their whole defense, they let go of Stefon [Diggs], they let go of [Gabe] Davis… I mean it’s crazy. It’s mind-boggling to me how they’re playing.

“How you let go of your top two receivers, all these dudes… [Jordan] Poyer, [Micah] Hyde… you let go of all these dudes and y’all are playing lights-out football. It hurts me a little bit because this offseason I was on some media shows and I bashed them. I didn’t think they were gonna be good.”

Jackson surely wasn’t alone in dismissing the Bills’ chances this year. Many saw it as a “rebuild year”, and rightfully so given the changes made on the roster by the front office, but head coach Sean McDermott and the Bills team have always performed best when counted out.

Many have somehow forgotten the adversity the Bills overcame just last year. Through twelve games the Bills were 6-6, out of the playoff picture, and had just fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. Then, under the direction of McDermott and newly-promoted OC Joe Brady, the Bills rattled off five straight wins, finishing 11-6 and winning the AFC East for the fourth consecutive year.

So, it’s not Jackson’s fault that he completely overlooked the Bills. On paper, the offseason looked like a mess, but now the Bills have youth all over their starting offense and defense, and after just two weeks, the Bills are way ahead of schedule.

Many national media outlets already have the Bills among the very best in the league in their latest power rankings, some even as high number two in the NFL.

Jackson’s full segment on the Bills can be found in the clip below:

Panthers great Luke Kuechly gives his opinion on Bryce Young’s struggles

Luke Kuechly isn’t ready to close the book on Panthers QB Bryce Young just yet.

Many Carolina Panthers fans seem to be jumping off the Bryce Young bandwagon after a second straight dud to start to the 2024 campaign. But a franchise legend won’t be joining them, at least not yet.

Former Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly talked about the team’s 26-3 loss on this morning’s episode of Up & Adams. The defeat was headlined by another disappointing performance from Young, who threw for a career-low 84 yards as well as his third head-scratching interception of the last two weeks.

Host Kay Adams asked Kuechly what he thinks is going wrong with the 23-year-old passer. And if you’re looking for a little ray of hope right now, the future Pro Football Hall of Famer may have provided it . . .

https://www.youtube.com/live/AQU89BdJG_8?si=HO4BASJlkZzVwUii&t=2628

Young’s early-season struggles are a bit more concerning when you consider how well his offensive line has played—as was pressured on four his 29 dropbacks on Sunday, the lowest amount for any starting quarterback in Week 2. The line, per Pro Football Focus, was responsible for just two of those pressures.

Through two games, Young has completed just over 55 percent of his passes for 245 yards, no touchdowns and the three picks.

OT Jermaine Eluemunor is excited ‘finally having a coach and GM that truly believe in you’

“Finally having a coach and GM who truly believe in you, it gets you excited to want to play for them and want to give everything you have.”

Texas A&M alumnus Jermaine Eluemunor is beginning a new journey this weekend with the New York Giants after spending three seasons in Sin City playing for the Las Vegas Raiders.

The offensive tackle appeared on “Up & Adams” with host Kay Adams on Tuesday and explained why he’s excited about participating in training camp this year.

“With me just going through what I’ve been through in my career, now finally having a coach and GM who truly believe in you, it gets you excited to want to play for them and want to give everything you have for them,” Eluemunor said. “I’ve struggled with confidence throughout my career and even today, being the player I am and the one I want to become, I still struggle with that.

“It’s a constant fight to tell myself that ‘I am who I am, I’m confident and can go into the game to do everything I need to do in order to help this team win.'”

Eluemunor and the G-Men kickoff the 2024 campaign on Sunday at noon CT by hosting the Minnesota Vikings.

Kevin Durant predicts a touchdown on Jayden Daniels’ first NFL play

Kevin Durant sees big things for Jayden Daniels on his first NFL play.

NBA superstar Kevin Durant is a massive fan of the Washington Commanders. Growing up in Prince George’s County, Maryland, Durant has always stayed with his favorite team through good times and bad.

These days, there is a lot of excitement surrounding the Commanders under new owner Josh Harris. This entire offseason has been fun for Washington fans, beginning with general manager Adam Peters’ hiring in January.

Washington’s most notable offseason addition was rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. Durant, like most fans, is fired up about Daniels.

On Friday, Durant was a guest on “Up & Adams” with Kay Adams, discussing the Commanders. Adams asked Durant to predict Daniels’ first play in his NFL debut on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“Play action, hit the post, Terry McLaurin for six,” Durant said. Adams said she wanted to see a similar result for Daniels on his first play.

The only other time the Commanders and Buccaneers opened the season was in 2004. That was Joe Gibbs’ first game back with the franchise after 12 years away. Running back Clinton Portis took his first carry in a Washington uniform 64 yards to the house, leading the burgundy and gold to a season-opening win over Tampa Bay.

Can Daniels create similar magic on Sunday?
