Preseason NFL football is an abomination any way you cut it, but at least the Seattle Seahawks are trying to make their TV broadcasts interesting. On Wednesday, the team announced their lineup of broadcasters for this year’s three preseason games. The group includes Kate Scott and Paul Silvi, as well as several former Seattle players, including Michael Robinson, Michael Bennett and newcomer K.J. Wright.

The legendary Scott is the headliner, as she’s the only woman to broadcast games for the NFL, NBA, NHL, college football and the Olympics. Normally she does play-by-play for the Philadelphia 76ers – which she says will continue after the summer detour to Seattle.

The Seahawks are scheduled to host the Vikings on Thursday, August 10 at 7:00 p.m. PT, followed by the Cowboys on Saturday, August 19, also at 7:00 p.m. Pacific. Their preseason slate ends with an early game in Green Bay against the Packers on Saturday, August 26 at 10:00 am.

Kate Scott to call Sixers games taking over for retired Marc Zumoff

Kate Scott will replace Marc Zumoff as the television voice of the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Philadelphia 76ers will look much different when they take the floor to begin the 2021-22 season. They will have an almost new team with the imminent trade of All-Star Ben Simmons and they will now have a new voice calling their games for NBC Sports Philadelphia.

After 39 years covering the Sixers, 27 as the play-by-play man, the legendary Marc Zumoff is stepping down. All of his amazing catchphrases such as “lock all windows and doors” and “coming in for a landing” and things of that nature will now be just a fond memory for Sixers fans.

Per Rob Torone of The Philadelphia Inquirer, NBC Sports Philadelphia will hire Kate Scott to replace Zumoff. Scott is the first woman to call an NFL game on the radio, the first to call college football for the Pac-12 Network, and she also called basketball games during the Tokyo Olympics.

Per Torone:

The network has hired Kate Scott to call games this season, according to sources not authorized to speak publicly. The move makes Scott the first full-time female broadcaster of any major sport in Philadelphia television history and just the second woman to handle full-time play-by-play duties for an NBA team.

NBC Sports Philadelphia and Scott did not respond to requests for comment.

Scott becomes the second woman to be hired as the television voice of an NBA team as she joins Lisa Byington who was hired by the Milwaukee Bucks. There is only one Marc Zumoff and Scott will have some large shoes to fill, but this is a big opportunity for her to become the next iconic voice for the Sixers.
