Former Notre Dame quarterback signs futures deal with Chiefs

Headed to the defending champs…eventually

In case you missed it earlier this week the Kansas City Chiefs signed former Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book to a reserve/future contract.

Book was most recently with the Patriots on a practice squad deal for roughly a week earlier this season.  A year ago he was on the Eagles roster when they went to the Super Bowl after he spent the previous season, his rookie year (2021) with the New Orleans Saints.

Book is not eligible to play this postseason for the Chiefs but it does allow for him to compete for a roster spot once training camp comes around.

50,000-plus tickets sold for potential neutral-site AFC Championship Game

Fans of the Bills and Chiefs are buying tickets for a potential AFC Championship Game in Atlanta

The NFL has the potential to have its version of the Red River Rivalry a week from Sunday.

The league announced Friday that 50,000 tickets have been sold for a potential AFC Championship Game between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Jan. 29.

The Red River Rivalry is the annual Oklahoma-Texas game that features fans from each school on their sides of the Cotton Bowl.

The possible Bills-Chiefs game for a spot in the Super Bowl would see Chiefs fans on one side of the venue in Atlanta and Bills fans on the other.

This would be red versus blue as opposed to Texas’ Burnt Orange and White and OU’s Crimson.

Of course, the Jacksonville Jaguars and Cincinnati Bengals will have something to say this weekend if the neutral-site game takes place.

The possibility exists because the Bills’ game with the Bengals on Jan. 2 was canceled after Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest during the first quarter.
