History has been made with the Texas A&M shutout win over Florida to advance to the program’s first-ever College World Series Final. The Aggies went 8-0 the NCAA Tournament, beating a lot of tough teams along the way, and with all the talk being about the A&M offense to start the season, the pitching has been the talk of the town.

During their 3-0 run in the finals, the team allowed only runs and set a CWS program record with 16 strikeouts in the first game against the Gators. Then, after a 14-strikeout performance on Wednesday night, they set a new team record of 680 strikeouts on the season. Max Weiner said it best about his pitchers in the tournament.

“I hope that the story of this isn’t that they had out-of-body games – they were just themselves.”

The Aggies are on a heck of a run. They finally had a drama-free game and continued to rewrite the Texas A&M baseball record books. Below, you can see some of the best photos from the victory over Florida.

‘Ball comes a little faster,’ Texas A&M 2B Kaeden Kent explains shifting positions at CWS

“Making the shift over to third is not as bad as I think it seems,” he said. “It’s nothing different except the ball comes a little faster.”

The No. 3 Texas A&M baseball team beat SEC foe, No. 2 Kentucky, by a final score of 5-1 on Monday night at Charles Schwab Field to advance to the semifinals of the College World Series.

Sophomore Kaeden Kent started at second base, then shifted to third after freshman Gavin Grahovac replaced sophomore right fielder Jace LaViolette, who suffered a right hamstring injury.

“My at-bat to score a couple runs, the guy was throwing a slider-cutter thing and a heater. I got a hold of one of his cutters, he left it a little too much over the plate. I pulled it foul, then he threw me a heater that was too much over the plate and I was able to handle it,” Kent recalled. “Making the shift over to third is not as bad as I think it seems. I take ground balls there, second base, shortstop. It’s nothing different except the ball comes a little faster. I was able to make a play.”

Next up for the Aggies (51-13) is a rematch with SEC rival Florida (36-29), who they beat 3-2 in the opening round on Saturday evening. With a win tonight, Texas A&M clinches a berth in the College World Series finals. First pitch Wednesday is at 6 p.m. on ESPN and ESPN+.

Texas A&M coach Jim Schlossnagle recaps win vs. No. 2 Kentucky at College World Series

“I thought it was a great ball game with tough conditions to hit. Ryan was obviously outstanding. Mason was outstanding for them, he said.

The No. 3 Texas A&M baseball team beat SEC foe, No. 2 Kentucky, by a final score of 5-1 on Monday night at Charles Schwab Field to advance to the semifinals of the College World Series.

After the game, coach Jim Schlossnagle spoke to the media.

“I thought it was a great ball game with tough conditions to hit. Ryan was obviously outstanding. Mason was outstanding for them,” Schlossnagle said. “We just happened to get Appel’s big hit to break it open a little bit and get us into scoring position. Then both Hayden and Kaeden did an awesome job of staying on the baseball, using the whole field to hit and keeping it low. It was a really tough night to hit.”

Next up for Texas A&M (51-13) is a rematch with conference rival Florida (36-29), who they beat 3-2 in the opening round on Saturday. With a win tonight, the Aggies clinch a berth in the CWS finals. First pitch Wednesday is at 6 p.m. on ESPN and ESPN+.

Texas A&M continues to roll on in Omaha beating Kentucky 5-1 on Monday night. This win will allow the Aggies to get some rest as they nurse a few minor injuries to Hayden Schott and Jace LaViolette.

Another major win that came out of the game is that Coach Jim Schlossnagle was able to save both his star closers Chris Cortez and Evan Aschenbeck due to the masterful job by the combo of Ryan Prager and Josh Stewart. They held the Wildcats to four hits and a single run scored.

While both teams left a ton of traffic on the bases, a big sixth inning from the Aggies proved to be the difference in the game scoring all six of their wins in that frame. Below are some of the best photos from the win on Tuesday night.

Texas A&M freshman 3B Gavin Grahovac shares mindset ahead of College World Series

“It’s tough to lose a guy like Braden. Every guy has to step up now, like you saw the other day, Kaeden Kent with a huge swing and plays.”

Before the Texas A&M baseball team begins the College World Series this weekend, freshman third baseman Gavin Grahovac spoke to the media after his first practice in Omaha, Nebraska.

“Just gonna have the same mentality that we’ve had all year. Opening Day, every day, go out there, it might be a new field, big field, big stage, but gotta go out there, play our game and just have fun,” Grahovac said Thursday. “It’s tough to lose a guy like Braden. Great teammate, great person, built a great relationship with him. He’s going to continue to be a great teammate as we continue to go through this journey. Every guy has to step up now so whoever is coming off the bench and going to play, like you saw the other day, Kaeden Kent with a huge swing and huge plays.

“It’s going to be awesome, we’re going to have a great time and Braden is going to be here with us.”

The No. 3 Aggies (49-13) face SEC rival Florida (34-28) on Saturday evening at 6 p.m. on ESPN.

‘Takes a village,’ Texas A&M DH Hayden Schott reacts to reaching 2nd College World Series

“It takes a village and our village showed out when we could’ve really easily sat back and waited for tomorrow. I’m so proud of these guys.”

Sophomore second baseman Kaeden Kent and designated hitter Hayden Schott combined for 9 RBI on Sunday night at Blue Bell Park to propel the No. 3 Texas A&M baseball team to a 15-9 victory versus Oregon to advance from the Bryan-College Station Super Regional.

“It means a ton, the offense for sure, but it starts in the dugout. Man, it starts with Hank Bard, (Blake) Binderup, guys that are staying with us the whole game,” Schott said postgame. “Our pitching, everyone, it takes a village and our village showed out today when we could’ve really easily sat back and waited for tomorrow. So I’m so proud of these guys, man.”

The graduate student was perfect, going 4-for-4 with 4 runs batted in, 3 runs scored, 1 home run, and 1 walk. Schott will be making his second appearance in Omaha, Nebraska, at the College World Series, beginning Saturday at 6 p.m. against SEC rival Florida on ESPN.

‘Take in the moment,’ Texas A&M 2B Kaeden Kent reflects on grand slam in win vs. Oregon

“I’ve never hit a baseball and been able to take in the moment. That was the first time I’ve ever been able to do that and it felt great.”

The Texas A&M baseball team trailed Oregon 8-4 entering the bottom of the seventh frame on Sunday evening during Game 2 of the Bryan-College Station Super Regional at Blue Bell Park.

The No. 3 Aggies scored 9 runs following the seventh-inning stretch. Texas A&M took the lead for good with an emphatic grand slam by sophomore second baseman Kaeden Kent.

“It was a 2-2 heater. I’ve never hit a baseball and been able to take in the moment. That was the first time I’ve ever been able to do that and it felt great,” Kent recalled. “Being on the field when (the 12th Man is) going crazy in the ninth inning when we’re down to our last out is the most insane feeling that I’ve ever experienced. In the seventh when we had our big inning, the Oregon pitchers were struggling a little bit out there, it plays a huge role into us winning that game.”

Kent fell a triple shy of the cycle and went 3-for-5 with a game-high 5 RBI and 2 runs.

Texas A&M is headed to the College World Series after defeating Oregon 15-9 in the Super Regional

Kaeden Kent saves the day after hitting a grand slam in the seventh inning, sending Texas A&M to the College World Series!

In one of the craziest games of the NCAA Tournament and the college baseball season as a whole, Texas A&M took hold of momentum and never let go, defeating Oregon in Game 2 15-9 after scoring nine consecutive runs on seven walks and a Kaeden Hunt grand slam.

Trailing 8-4 heading into the seventh, Oregon pitcher Brock Moore and Jaxon Jordan couldn’t find the strike zone. The irony wasn’t lost on anyone when the Aggies’ struggles on the mound were accounted for, as the tides completely turned in their favor.

Taking a 13-8 lead into the eighth inning, the momentum swing continued as Hayden Schott hit the second two-run home run for the Aggies on the night, adding two on the board for a massive 15-9 lead, combined with the sixth solo shot from Oregon to add a run.

For one of the most patient offenses in the country, the fact that the Aggies were able to walk their way into their first lead since starting the game off at 1-0 nothing in the first isn’t surprising, but this performance was on another level. With 12 hits on the night, Kent’s grand slam was just one of three hits on the night to lead the team, producing five runs, while Hayden Schott finished with four hits and four RBI.

After starting the game in shaky territory, pitcher Shane Sdao immediately left the game after just 11 innings due to an undisclosed injury in the bottom of the first.

This led to head coach Jim Schlossnagle having to use five pitchers from the bullpen, who combined for five runs while allowing three home runs to start the game. Tanner Jones and freshman Kaeden Wilson combined for 77 pitches before A&M gained back the lead, providing Schlossnagle the relief of sending reliable closer Evan Aschenbeck out to the mound to finish things off in the eighth.

As poised and confident as ever, Aschenbeck remained (almost) flawless, recording his ninth save on the year with four strikeouts and just two hits allowed to send Texas A&M to the College World Series for the second time in two seasons.

Texas A&M will now face the Florida Gators, but the date and time are currently unspecified.
