Vols’ 2021 commitment tracker

KNOXVILLE — Tennessee football head coach Jeremy Pruitt and the Volunteers secured another verbal commitment for the Class of 2021.

Wide receiver Julian Nixon, a rising senior from Centennial High School in Roswell, Georgia, announced his commitment to the Vols Tuesday morning via Twitter where he sported Tennessee colors.

A four-star prospect, Nixon considered attending Georgia, Florida, Arkansas, LSU, Auburn, Ohio State and Oklahoma.

His commitment vaults Tennessee’s 2021 recruiting class to No. 5 in the nation. The Vols have 13 players committed and their class is only behind those at Ohio State, North Carolina, Florida and Clemson.

Nixon, 6-foot-3, 230-pounds, is ranked 42nd in the nation among the class’ wide receivers.

The Georgia Bulldogs are preparing for another busy signing day this Wednesday. Georgia’s primary focus is currently on the class of 2020, but 2021 four-star receiver Julian Nixon placed the Bulldogs in his top seven schools.

Nixon plays at Centennial High School and is from Roswell, Georgia. The 2021 receiver is 6’4″ and weighs 205 lbs. He has the coveted size for an outside receiver.

Nixon released his top schools via Twitter:

Georgia will compete with Auburn, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Florida, and Tennessee for Nixon’s talents. The 2021 receiver could be a future piece of Kirby Smart and James Coley’s offense. It will be interesting to see if Georgia does an LSU Tigers-esque transformation of the offense.

Georgia currently has a talent receiver commitment in Marcus Rosemy, who won a state championship in Florida this weekend. UGA currently has two commitments in the class of 2021.
