Five-star QB Julian Lewis schedules another visit to Georgia

The 2025 cycle is beginning to take shape after Georgia reeled in the No. 1 recruiting class of 2024. One of the biggest priorities for the Bulldogs is five-star quarterback Julian Lewis, who is currently committed to USC.

USC quarterback commit Julian Lewis visits Georgia and Kirby Smart, but nothing happens

It seems Julian Lewis is taking the opportunity to visit other schools, but he isn’t rethinking his choice to attend USC.

USC quarterback commit Julian Lewis goes to high school in Carrollton, Georgia. Therefore, the fact that Lewis recently paid a visit to Kirby Smart and the University of Georgia football program will certainly receive some attention. Lewis tweeted out a photo of his visit with Georgia’s coaching staff. People will wonder just how significant this visit is.

Colorado and Deion Sanders have expressed interest in Lewis. This Georgia-based product is visiting an in-state school which won back-to-back national championships this decade. Is this a reflection of real intrigue in the world of recruiting? Is Lewis having genuine second thoughts about USC? Or is Lewis merely going on a sightseeing tour and taking visits just to get a taste of what’s out there, and nothing more?

A survey of the landscape would suggest — if not outright indicate — that Lewis is indeed taking in the sights but is not seriously rethinking USC as his destination. He is looking at the storefronts but is not doing any actual shopping.

Five-star quarterback Julian Lewis visits Georgia football

Five-star USC Trojans commit Julian Lewis visited the Georgia Bulldogs over the weekend

Over the weekend, five-star USC Trojans commitment Julian Lewis visited the Georgia Bulldogs. Lewis attended a Georgia basketball game and sat alongside Georgia football coach Kirby Smart.

Julian Lewis is one of the most talented recruits in the nation regardless of class. The five-star prospect recently reclassified from the class of 2026 to the class of 2025. Lewis is ranked as the No. 2 quarterback in the 2025 recruiting cycle. The uber-talented quarterback is the No. 8 recruit in the country and the second-ranked prospect in Georgia.

Lewis broke out with an outstanding freshman season for Carrollton High School in Carrollton, Georgia, in 2022. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound quarterback followed his 2022 campaign up with another outstanding effort in 2023.
Last season, the Carrollton superstar passed for 3,094 passing yards, 48 touchdowns, and two interceptions. Julian Lewis was named as the MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year for his efforts in 2023. Lewis helped Carrollton reach the 7A quarterfinals in Georgia and went 11-2.

The five-star quarterback has been committed to USC since Aug. 2023. Many of the nation’s elite college football programs are recruiting Julian Lewis. The USC verbal pledge has recently checked out Georgia, Auburn, and Ohio State. Lewis additionally returned to USC for a visit in November.

Georgia is making Julian Lewis a priority recruit, but the Bulldogs will have a challenge getting Lewis to decommit from USC. Trojans’ head coach Lincoln Riley has an excellent record of developing quarterbacks that is hard to match.

USC QB commit Julian Lewis signs NIL deal

Julian Lewis is getting deals done.

2025 USC commit and five-star quarterback Julian “Juju” Lewis has signed an NIL partnership deal with Alo Yoga, per On.3.com.

Alo Yoga also has deals with Caleb Williams and J.J. McCarthy, among other athletes.

Since signing with Athletes First, Lewis has agreed to deals with Leaf Trading Cards and Jaxxon, the latter of which is a jewelry brand.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder from Carrollton (Georgia) High School completed 186 of 280 passes (66.4%) for 3,094 yards, 48 touchdowns and just two interceptions this past season.

Per On3.com, Lewis already has a valuation of $615,000, which is ranked No. 76 among the site’s top 100 athletes. He also has the highest valuation of any high school football prospect in the country.

Lewis is USC’s only current commit in the Class of 2025. He recently paid a visit to the University of Georgia and Bulldog head coach Kirby Smart. Some USC fans are worried that Lewis might not stick to the Trojans, given his visits to other schools plus the fact that Jayden Maiava of UNLV, a player with multiple years of eligibility remaining, has transferred into the USC program and might make it harder for Lewis to be the immediate QB1 for USC in 2025.

USC commit Julian Lewis announces he will be a spring enrollee in 2025

USC could have a spring QB battle in 2024. It will have one in 2025.

Julian Lewis, previously the top-ranked quarterback prospect in the 2026 class, made a significant announcement earlier this week. He revealed that he would reclassify to the 2025 class. Lewis confirmed speculation when he more recently announced that he would not only sign a year earlier but also become an early enrollee. This move has set the stage for a captivating quarterback battle at USC.

Entering the 2024 spring season, USC is placing its bets on redshirt junior Miller Moss as the presumed frontrunner to lead the Trojans as the starting quarterback in 2024. The general consensus is that Moss solidified his position as QB1 for the fall after delivering a masterful performance in the Holiday Bowl. He completed 23 out of 33 passes for an impressive 372 yards and six touchdowns against a formidable Louisville defense. Lincoln Riley’s postgame statement further solidified Moss’s standing, hinting that his skills may have dissuaded potential transfers from coming to Los Angeles.

Despite Riley’s assertion, Jayden Maiava, the celebrated Mountain West Freshman of the Year, decided to commit to the Trojans. Maiava’s heroics began when he came off the bench early in the season, leading the UNLV Rebels on a remarkable comeback against the Vanderbilt Commodores, overcoming a 17-point deficit in Week 3. From then on, there was no looking back for Maiava. With him as the starting quarterback, UNLV achieved a 7-2 record, earning him Second Team All-Mountain West honors. At 6-4 and 220 pounds, he stands tall in the pocket with a big arm. He’s also athletic. He shows the ability to keep the ball and run with power and speed.

While Moss is technically eligible in 2025, he will probably move on to the NFL following the 2024 season. This creates an opportunity for a traditional quarterback competition between Maiava and Lewis in the spring of 2025.

2025 QB and USC commit Julian Lewis set to visit Colorado and Deion Sanders

USC fans shouldn’t be worried about this.

Five-star quarterback Julian Lewis plans on visiting Colorado next weekend January 27 and 28.

Buffaloes Wire has more on this story:

“Lewis, who committed to USC in August, also plans on visiting Auburn this upcoming weekend and Georgia in early February, the report stated. While Lewis remains a Lincoln Riley pledge, he should be on flip watch moving forward.

“After reclassifying from the 2026 class earlier this week, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Lewis is now the second-ranked 2025 QB, per the 247Sports Composite.

Colorado football currently has the No. 106 recruiting class in college for the 2024 cycle, according to 247Sports, and has only signed six commits through the high school ranks in that class. Deion Sanders and the Buffs are in the top 20 in the transfer portal rankings, but they clearly need to beef up their recruiting for the 2024 and 2025 class through the prep ranks.

Should USC fans be worried about this development? Probably not. Colorado took such a big hit late last season that the Buffaloes’ reputation is at low ebb right now. This seems like a curiosity visit by Lewis more than anything else, not a serious reconsideration of his plans.
