Josh Parisian wants to welcome Juan Adams to ARES FC: ‘I don’t care for him that much’

Josh Parisian sees Juan Adams as a good opportunity to prove he belongs in the big leagues.

[autotag]Josh Parisian[/autotag] sees [autotag]Juan Adams[/autotag] as a good opportunity to prove he belongs in the big leagues.

Parisan (12-3 MMA) had numerous opportunities that could have led to the UFC, but they never materialized. He scored a spinning backfist knockout over Greg Rebello at Dana White’s Contender Series in 2018, but wasn’t awarded a contract.

He then took part in Season 28 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” but lost his first fight to Michel Batista. Since then, Parisian has gone 5-1, with all five wins coming by finish.

He signed with ARES and scored a second-round finish over Matunga Djikasa in his promotional debut this past December.

Parisian has been on a mission to get a call from the UFC, and he thinks that a fight with the recently signed Adams may help him get one step closer to achieving that.

“At this point, I want the hardest fights that I can get, that will get me where I want to go,” Parisian told MMA Junkie. “I’ve been fighting guys with winning records. My last fight wasn’t (an opponent with) a winning record, but I had a fight lined up with a dude with a good record. At this point, maybe just because I’m having a daughter, I’m like, ‘I’ve got to make something happen.’ So if I’m going to the UFC, who do you want me to fight? Who are you looking to sign right now, and I will beat his ass so you can see that I’m there. I’m ready.

“I did see that Juan Adams was cut from the UFC, and I don’t care for him that much simply because when I was going on the show, he was running his mouth on Twitter. When I was on the show, we got to watch the Contenders (Series), and I didn’t like his arrogance. Although he’s been served some humble pie in the UFC, I would like that fight with ARES.”

The coronavirus outbreak has postponed ARES FC 2, which is now projected to take place in October, giving matchmakers plenty of time to potentially match these two heavyweights up.

10 heavyweights you can expect to see on Dana White’s Contender Series, Season 4

The return of Dana White’s Contender Series isn’t far off, and here are 10 big men who are candidates to appear on the show.

Dana White’s Contender Series has become a focal point for fighters on the regional scene. Since its inception in 2017, the UFC Fight Pass-turned-ESPN+ summer original removed some of the guesswork for up-and-comers trying to make it big.

With UFC president Dana White and matchmakers Mick Maynard and Sean Shelby cageside, the stakes are high. Have an impressive, exciting win on the show, and you’re in.

Rumored for a late-June 2020 start date, DWCS Season 4 is almost here. The lineups haven’t been announced quite yet, but advanced planning is underway. While there are hundreds of fighters qualified to compete on the show, we’ll be narrowing each divisional pool to 10 fighters you should expect to see on the show this summer.

We begin with the big boys – heavyweights.

Hugo Cunha

Record: 5-0
Age: 27
Height: 6’4″
Birthplace:
Rio de Janeiro

Brazil is known for its roots in jiu-jitsu, but [autotag]Hugo Cunha[/autotag] lives by his wrestling. A coach to Alex Oliviera, Thiago Santos and more, Cunha is highly touted among Brazilians for his wrestling abilities, but his ground skills don’t stop there. Cunha also has a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Competing for Future FC, Titan FC, and WOCS, Cunha has finished all five of his professional fights. He’s green, but he’s improving. What better way to figure out if he’s ready for the big leagues than DWCS?

Chris Daukaus

Record: 8-3
Age: 30
Height: 6’2″
Birthplace:
Philadelphia

Brother of DWCS Season 3 competitor Kyle Daukaus, [autotag]Chris Daukaus[/autotag] deserves his fix, too. After starting his career at 2-2, Daukaus has won six of seven. His lone loss in the stretch came against Azunna Anyanwu – a fight he was largely winning. Daukaus is currently booked to face a DWCS alumnus Shawn Teed, one of the three men to hold wins over Daukaus. If Daukaus successfully defends his CFFC title and avenges a loss in the process, DWCS should be next.
