Nebraska Football announced a change to its coaching staff on Friday evening. Tight end coach Bob Wager announced his resignation after receiving a ‘driving citation.’
‘It is with great remorse that I resign from my position as assistant football coach at the University of Nebraska. Earlier this week, I received a citation for a driving offense that I regret immensely.
I am grateful for the opportunity extended to me, and sincerely sorry for any negativity my poor decision has brought my family, our staff and our staff and those I have disappointed.’
Josh Martin has been elevated to tight ends coach. After spending 2022 at Little Elm High School in Texas as an offensive coordinator and quarterback coach, he was initially hired as a special teams analyst.
He has 11 seasons of experience coaching at the college level. His last college job was at SMU, from 2018-21, coaching tight ends. While at Southern Methodist, he produced multiple tight ends drafted into the NFL.
In 2021, Grant Calcaterra was taken in the sixth round of the NFL draft. First-team All-AAC tight end Kylen Granson was taken in the fourth round of the 2021 draft.
Josh Martin was already updated as the #Huskers tight ends coach last night on his official bio. His TE coaching work at SMU (2018-21) jumps out.
Coached a 6th round draft pick in Grant Calcaterra (465 yards in '21).
And a 4th round pick in Kylen Granson (17.4 ypc in '19).
