Two Colorado offensive linemen earn True Freshman All-American honors from On3

Two Colorado offensive linemen earned Freshman All-American honors

Head coach Deion Sanders and his Colorado football staff have opened up a pipeline to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, landing two prospects from high school powerhouse in the 2024 and 2025 recruiting cycles. We’ll wait and see what the 2025 signees can do, but the pair from the 2024 cycle look like gems.

In fact, Colorado center Cash Cleveland and left tackle Jordan Seaton were named to On3’s True Freshman All-American team on Friday.

Seaton came to CU with great fanfare as a five-star signee who committed to the Buffs on Fox Sports 1’s “Undisputed.” Here’s a snippet of what On3’s Thomas Goldkamp wrote on Seaton’s first year in Boulder:

Jordan Seaton has been the top true freshman offensive lineman throughout the season. The former five-star-plus prospect manned the left tackle spot for Colorado, playing over 800 snaps and performed very well, particularly in pass protection.

Cleveland’s recruiting process differed significantly, as he joined the program as a preferred walk-on. He was granted an opportunity to join CU’s starting unit late in the season, becoming the first walk-on freshman offensive lineman to start a game in program history.

Here’s some of what Goldkamp wrote about Cleveland:

Based on how he’s played to this point in the season, Cleveland looks to be a lock starter at center for the Buffaloes next season, giving Deion Sanders a steady, proven center who has played at a high level in the Big 12.

Coach Prime gives update on Jordan Seaton’s freshman year development

Freshman Jordan Seaton is on the right track developmentally, according to Coach Prime

No Colorado football position group was under more pressure to perform this year than the offensive line.

After struggling most of last season, especially in pass protection, the O-line needed an infusion of talent. Because of this, the spotlight on freshman left tackle Jordan Seaton has been blinding. Seaton has had two strong games sandwiched around a rough performance at Nebraska, which is typical for a freshman adjusting to the college game.

Still, head coach Deion Sanders believes the rookie is coming along nicely. Coach Prime met with the media on Tuesday to discuss the Buffs’ upcoming game with the Baylor Bears and was asked about Seaton’s ongoing development:

“Jordan is coming,” Sanders said. “Slowly but surely, he’s understanding footwork and technique is everything because at this level, you can’t overpower, overmuscle or out-athletic others. He’s doing a great job of listening to some of the best teachers that I’ve seen in quite a long time. Phil (Loadholt) and Gunnar (White) and big George (Hegamin), all them chime in to complete these guys. But I love where Jordan is mentally and physically.”

Jordan Seaton earns preseason true freshman All-American honors from On3

On3 is predicting a big freshman season from Jordan Seaton

Amid his first fall camp at the college level, Colorado football offensive tackle Jordan Seaton landed a spot on On3’s preseason true freshman All-American team on Monday.

Seaton was the Buffs’ lone representative on On3’s list and, surprisingly, the only Big 12 player who made the team. Listed at 6-foot-5 and 285 pounds, the former five-star prospect is expected to protect quarterback Shedeur Sanders’ blind side this upcoming season as Colorado’s starting left tackle.

On3 hasn’t been the only national outlet to give Seaton some attention this offseason. In June, the freshman standout earned preseason All-Big 12 honors from Athlon.

Here’s some of what On3’s Charles Power wrote on Seaton:

Seaton was among the most polished offensive linemen in the 2024 cycle, and he came into a program that was in sore need of upgrading talent at the position. Seaton, I think, has true positional versatility. We really like his ability as a tackle but he certainly could play inside as well. His skillset, with his physical strength, his power at the point of attack and his technical polish and pass protection, should bode well to making an early transition to the college game. He was a massive get for Deion Sanders and is the biggest high school commitment from the Buffaloes’ 2024 class.

Other Colorado true freshmen who could make an impact this season include wide receivers Drelon Miller and Kam Mikell, defensive lineman Brandon Davis-Swain and running back Micah Welch.

Jordan Seaton and Kahlil Benson didn’t plan this iconic photo, ‘It just happened’

Remember this iconic photo?

Jordan Seaton and Kahil Benson joined the Colorado Buffaloes earlier this offseason, and the two massive offensive tackles wasted no time in “protecting” their quarterback, even at a CU women’s basketball game.

Shortly after both players signed their letter of intent to play for the Buffs, they took in a basketball game with QB Shedeur Sanders at the CU Events Center on Jan. 19. Cameras caught the trio checking out the game and created a viral photo that was almost too good to be true. The two tackles lined up like they would on the field, with the left tackle Seaton on Sanders’ left side and the right tackle Benson to his right.

I asked Seaton at CU’s fall sports media day last week if their positioning around Sanders was intentional:

“It just happened like that,” Seaton said. “Some things are just meant to be. I never noticed that until you talked about it, but that’s cool. That’s sick.”

Freshman Jordan Seaton earns preseason All-Big 12 honors from Athlon

Jordan Seaton received some special recognition ahead of his true freshman campaign

The hype surrounding Colorado football true freshman Jordan Seaton continues to grow ahead of the offensive tackle’s debut college campaign.

On Tuesday, Athlon released its 2024 preseason All-Big 12 teams and the Buffs’ rookie phenom earned fourth-team honors. Seaton, a former five-star prospect out of IMG Academy, is expected to protect quarterback Shedeur Sanders’ blind slide this fall as Colorado’s starting left tackle.

Throughout his first college spring camp, the Washington D.C. native received plenty of praise from teammates and coaches. First-year Colorado offensive line coach Phil Loadholt complimented Seaton’s advanced mental abilities, calling him a “student of the game.”

Eight other Buffs earned preseason All-Big 12 honors from Athlon:

  • Cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter (first-team offense, first-team defense)
  • Quarterback Shedeur Sanders (second-team offense)
  • Wide receiver LaJohntay Wester (first-team punt returner, second-team offense)
  • Defensive lineman BJ Green II (second-team defense)
  • Safety Shilo Sanders (second-team defense)
  • Defensive lineman Dayon Hayes (third-team defense)
  • Punter Mark Vassett (third-team special teams)
  • Linebacker Trevor Woods (fourth-team defense)

National writer includes Jordan Seaton on list of college football’s premier true freshmen

The Jordan Seaton hype continues to grow

In desperate need of help on the offensive line, the Colorado Buffaloes made a huge splash by signing top-ranked class of 2024 offensive tackle Jordan Seaton earlier this offseason.

Seaton, a consensus five-star prospect from IMG Academy, is currently expected to start at left tackle next season as a true freshman, meaning he’ll have the critical responsibility of protecting quarterback Shedeur Sanders’ blind side.

On Tuesday, 247Sports national writer Chris Hummer included Seaton on his list of 100 true freshmen who are set to “shake up the 2024 college football season.” In his reasoning, Hummer highlighted the important role Seaton will assume this fall:

Given Colorado’s offensive line struggles a year ago and the complete reset the room has undergone since, there are plenty of opportunities for young players to emerge on the o-line. Seaton was one of 13 traditional high school or JUCO signees for the Buffs in 2024. The five-star recruit worked as Colorado’s starting left tackle during the spring game, and it’s very likely he begins the year protecting Shedeur Sanders’ blind side.

Seaton was the only Colorado freshman featured on Hummer’s list.

CU Buffs OL coach Phil Loadholt praises Jordan Seaton’s football knowledge

Jordan Seaton’s football knowledge is on par with his physical tools, says Phil Loadholt

Former Fountain-Fort Carson High School star-turned-NFL tackle Phil Loadholt was a specimen of an offensive lineman during his playing days. Standing at 6-foot-8 and 345 pounds, Loadholt parleyed his physical tools into a seven-year NFL career.

Now coaching Colorado’s offensive line, Loadholt understands that the mental side of the game is just as important as the physical, and he sees both aspects as being strong in five-star freshman left tackle Jordan Seaton.

Following the Buffs’ first spring football practice on Monday, Loadholt answered questions from the media. Naturally, he was asked about Seaton. Loadholt shared that he has been particularly impressed by Seaton’s high-level football knowledge.

“Being a freshman coming in, a guy straight out of high school, his knowledge is up there,” Loadholt said. “He’s a student of the game, he works hard, he comes up and watches film and does everything he’s supposed to do. That’s been the most impressive part of him. Obviously, physically, you can see that he’s advanced, you know what I mean? But his mental part has been impressive to me.”

Social media reacts to Jordan Seaton’s showing at the Under Armour All-America game

Jordan Seaton had a big day at the Under Armour All-America game

Going up against the nation’s top high school pass rushers, Jordan Seaton was rock solid in the 2024 Under Armour All-America game on Wednesday. The recent Colorado signee started at left tackle and was a captain for Team Ice, which beat Team Fire, 39-9.

In addition to keeping Team Ice’s quarterbacks safe, Seaton scored on a two-point conversion attempt in the third quarter, but it was negated due to a penalty.

The five-star OT allowed only one pressure — a sack by South Carolina signee Dylan Stewart — in the 20 passing plays he blocked for in the first half, according to BuffStampede’s Adam Munsterteiger.

Below are some of the best clips and reactions to Seaton’s impressive performance in the Under Armour All-America game:

Colorado signees Jordan Seaton, Drelon Miller to participate in high school All-American games

Two Colorado signees are set to play in high school All-American games this week

During the early signing period, top-tier 2024 prospects Jordan Seaton and Drelon Miller made things official with Colorado.

In early January, both of those players are going to play in high school All-American games, per Adam Munsterteiger of BuffStampede. Seaton will play in the 2024 UA Next All-America Game on Wednesday (2 p.m. MT, ESPN) while Miller is set for the All-American Bowl next Saturday (11 a.m. MT, NBC).

Defensive lineman Brandon Davis-Swain (UA Next All-American) and running back Micah Welch (All-American Bowl) were also set to play in their respective All-American games, but both bowed out due to lingering injuries.

Seaton, a five-star offensive lineman, committed to Colorado in early December but took some time to submit his national letter of intent, causing rumors to swirl on whether or not he would come to Boulder. He’s now officially locked in, however.

Miller, a four-star wide receiver from Texas, committed to Colorado on Dec. 10 before signing during the early period.

Seaton and Miller are also set to play in the 2024 Polynesian Bowl on Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. MT (NFL Network), according to BuffStampede.

Ready for ‘Primetime’: Deion Sanders, Colorado (finally) land 5-star Jordan Seaton

Jordan Seaton commits to Colorado on Friday.

The twists and turns of Jordan Seaton’s recruitment saw the five-star offensive lineman land back at Colorado on Friday afternoon. This represents a major – albeit scary – recruiting win for Colorado head coach Deion Sanders.

The consensus top offensive lineman in the nation, Seaton had been a verbal to Colorado for nearly two weeks prior to the early signing period, appeared to have opened up his commitment on Wednesday. There were rumors that Maryland was making a push for Seaton and would land the prospect.

But instead, it appears that Seaton is staying firm with Colorado and coach Sanders.

He is a 6-foot-5, 295-pound offensive tackle from IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida).

IMG finished fifth in the nation in the USA TODAY HSS Super 25.

Seaton is an impressive prospect who has a good frame to add some more size and strength. He moves well and fluidly, with the ability to get downfield and block.

He finishes his blocks well and was tested every day in practice at one of the nation’s top prep programs.
