Alabama football countdown: 36 days until kickoff

We are 36 days from Alabama football kicking off its season on the road against the Missouri Tigers to start a 10-game, SEC only schedule.

There has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding college football over the last couple of weeks, but as of right now, the season still looks like it’s a go for the SEC, ACC and Big 12.

So, what does that mean? It means that we can continue the Countdown to Kickoff en route to the Crimson Tide — and the rest of the SEC — getting things underway on Sept. 26.

With it now being Aug. 21, we are officially 36 days away from the start!

After the departure of linebacker Markail Benton earlier in the offseason, the No. 36 has now been left to two walk-on players. Redshirt junior Bret Bolin, a wide receiver out of Lemont (Ill.), wears it for the offense while Jordan Parker, a sophomore defensive back from Phenix City (Ala.) wears it for the defense.

Oklahoma’s Jordan Parker has reportedly entered the transfer portal

The transfer portal is open in Norman, Oklahoma. Oklahoma defensive back Jordan Parker is the latest to enter it.

The transfer portal is open in Norman, Oklahoma.

Oklahoma defensive back Jordan Parker has become the 12th player to enter the transfer portal and look for other options since the start of the 2019 season’s fall camp, according to a report from The Athletic’s Jason Kersey.

Parker later sent out a tweet thanking his former coaches.

Since last Friday, five Oklahoma defenders have entered the transfer portal. Parker followed defensive linemen Troy James, linebackers Ryan Jones and Levi Draper, as well as RUSH linebacker Mark Jackson.

The Pittsburg, California native was a four-star recruit out of high school in 2016. Parker started his freshman year before being setback by multiple injuries, making 23 appearances in four seasons. He finishes his Oklahoma career with 50 total tackles and five pass break-ups.

Sophomore Jaden Davis surpassed Parker on the depth chart.

At this rate, Oklahoma could be down to the most, not all, returning players of the 2019 two-deep on defense and newcomers.
