The Houston Texans are activating Jordan Jenkins from injured reserve while also placing Jonathan Greenard on the COVID-19 reserve.

The Texans are placing defensive end Jonathan Greenard on the COVID-19 reserve. The former 2020 third-round pick, who leads the Texans with 8.0 sacks, will be out against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 15.

Houston is getting some help back along the defensive line. The Texans have activated defensive end Jordan Jenkins from injured reserve. Jenkins was placed on the reserve with a torn posterior cruciate ligament after the Week 9 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Texans place 3 players on COVID-19 reserve among other roster moves

The Houston Texans have placed three players on the COVID-19 reserve along with other roster moves for Week 15.

The Houston Texans have placed three players on the COVID-19 reserve in safety A.J. Moore, linebacker Christian Kirksey, and defensive end DeMarcus Walker.

All three players will miss the Jacksonville Jaguars game.

According to coach David Culley, the Texans’ protocols for COVID-19 are based on what the NFL requires.

“The changes we’ve made (are) the changes that the NFL requires us to make,” Culley told reporters Wednesday. “Usually all those changes come down from the league office, and once the league office gives us those changes, then we go by those changes. There’s really not anything else we can do. I think our people here, our staff do a great job of everything that we need to do to prevent this thing from happening.

“All of our guys are vaccinated and it’s still happening. It’s happening across the league. Obviously, this past week and these past couple of days, there’s been a little bit more outbreak.”

The Texans also designated defensive end Jordan Jenkins for return from injured reserve. Jenkins had been placed on injured reserve with a torn posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in Week 11.

Houston also placed receiver Davion Davis on injured reserve with a fractured leg.

The Texans also signed running back Darius Anderson to the practice squad. Anderson went to training camp with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2020, but was cut at the end of that August. Anderson spent the 2020 season with the Indianapolis Colts on their practice squad, but was waived at the end of 2021 preseason.

The Houston Texans have placed defensive end Jordan Jenkins on injured reserve among three roster moves.

The Houston Texans have placed defensive end Jordan Jenkins on injured reserve.

The former New York Jets 2016 third-round pick won’t get to go against his former team as a knee injury kept him out of practice all week. Jenkins sustained the knee injury in the 22-13 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 11.

The Texans signed guard Lane Taylor from the practice squad to the active roster to fill the void left behind by Jenkins, who has 17 combined tackles, three tackles for loss, four quarterback hits, and 1.5 sacks through eight games this season.

Houston also designated safety Jonathan Owens as their standard elevation from the practice squad.

Report: Texans DE Jordan Jenkins tore PCL in 22-13 win over the Titans

The Houston Texans saw another injury to their defensive line as DE Jordan Jenkins is reported to have torn his PCL in Week 11.

The Houston Texans sustained another hit to their defensive line.

According to Aaron Wilson of Sports Talk 790, defensive end Jordan Jenkins tore his posterior cruciate ligament in the 22-13 win over the Tennessee Titans Sunday afternoon at Nissan Stadium. Jenkins is not believed to have torn his anterior cruciate ligament.

As Jenkins heals, he would have to go on injured reserve, which would keep him out for a minimum of three weeks.

Jenkins provided the Texans with one tackle. The former New York Jets 2016 third-round pick has generated 16 combined tackles, three tackles for loss, four quarterback hits, and 1.5 sack through seven games.

Texans DE Jordan Jenkins questionable to return vs. Titans due to knee injury

Houston Texans defensive end Jordan Jenkins is questionable to return against the Tennessee Titans with a knee injury.

The Houston Texans have announced that defensive end Jordan Jenkins have sustained a knee injury and his return is questionable. Jenkins’ knee injury took place early in the second quarter of the Texans Week 11 match against the 8-2 Tennessee Titans, Sunday afternoon, at Nissan Stadium.

If Jenkins is unavailable to return, his absence will leave a larger void for the Texans to fill on their defensive line, with Jonathan Greenard already out due to a foot injury.

Jenkins has been one of a few bright spots for the Texans amid their 1-8 start to the season. After recording a pair of limited snaps through the first three weeks, Jenkins has recorded six solo tackles and 1.5 sacks in seven games played.

“I just kept my head down and just did what I’m supposed to do,” Jenkins said in October. “You never get too high, you never get too low, and you don’t let outside circumstances change who you are and change your core. You just go out there and do what you’re supposed to do and just stay the same man you were.”

Texans DE Jordan Jenkins on facing Titans RB Adrian Peterson: ‘He’s a GOAT’

Houston Texans defensive end Jordan Jenkins has tremendous respect for Tennessee Titans running back Adrian Peterson.

HOUSTON — When the Houston Texans take on the 8-2 Tennessee Titans on Sunday, they will do so without the task of slowing down MVP candidate Derrick Henry. The two-time Pro-Bowl running back was well on his way to his third consecutive rushing title before a Jones fracture in his foot sidelined Henry for the season.

Although Houston does not have to worry about the talents of Henry at Nissan Stadium, the Texans will still have an arduous mission to defend former NFL rushing champion, Adrian Peterson.

Peterson signed with the Titans as a free agent following the loss of Henry and has helped fill the vacant void left by the All-Pro running back. In 2015, Peterson became the first player since Barry Sanders in 1996 to win three career NFL rushing titles (2008, 2012 & 2015).

“He’s a GOAT — Hall-of-Famer,” Texans’ defensive Jordan Jenkins said. “A lot of these younger guys have never got to play A.P. [Peterson] and never got to tackle him. A lot of the guys’ goal might be to get a good lick on A.P., so that’s just another added bonus to this Sunday.”

At 36-years-old and far removed from his All-Pro days as a member of the Minnesota Vikings, Peterson can still disrupt his opposing team’s defensive game plan to stop the run.

Prior to joining the Titans in 2021, Peterson rushed for a combined 1,502 yards on 337 attempts, with 12 touchdowns over the previous two seasons with the Washington Football Team (19) and Detroit Lions (20).

In his first two games with the Titans, the future Hall-of-Famer has rushed for 21 yards twice, but Peter could be in line for a big game — given that he has yet to slow down coming out of the backfield.

According to Jenkins — who last played against Peterson as a member of the Jets in 2019 — the 2012 league MVP winner is still a heavy trash talker in the twilight of his luxurious 14-year career.

“He’s still running that ball hard,” Jenkins said. “He’s out there, he’s trying to prove that he can still play. He’s trying to dominate.”

“He approaches the game the same way he did in his younger days, and I feel like now he’s out there trying to hit guys even harder. He’s not that hitting that hole soft, he’s not looking to go down. He’s trying to fight and trying to put his body into you and just run through you.”

Peterson began his career as a member of the Vikings as a first-round pick (No. 7 overall) in 2007. Peterson has since established himself as one of the greatest running backs in NFL history after recording 14,862 career rushing yards and 119 touchdowns in 182 games played.

DE Jordan Jenkins says Texans must ‘take it to the next level in practice’

Houston Texans defensive end Jordan Jenkins believes the team must turn it up in practice if they hope to salvage their 1-8 record.

The Houston Texans have more problems at 1-8 than all the chalkboards at MIT.

However, defensive end Jordan Jenkins believes that simple steps can provide the Texans the opportunity to get better. The question becomes where the team can start applying such fundamental change, and Jenkins believes he has found a solution.

I feel like we’ve been preaching it, toeing the line, doing what is required with regards to paying attention to detail but we can always take that next step and that’s what we need to do moving forward for this last little stretch if we want to have anything,” Jenkins said. “If we want to get to where we need to get to, we have to pay attention to detail and take it to the next level in practice.”

Jenkins suggested an accountability between the players, not top-down punitive action from the coaches.

Said Jenkins: “Whether that means added punishment, like as players, not coaching wise, nothing too crazy, just some extra sprints or small fines. If you jump offsides at practice, 30 extra pushups. Just try and stress that we need to have more attention to detail to get some of those key turnovers and key offside penalties out of the game.”

The Texans are tied for the 11th-most penalties in the NFL with 65, even though they have had a bye week. Houston also is 12th in penalty yardage with 552.

Jenkins stressed that the accountability between the players would have “no malicious intent there at all.”

“Just holding people accountable and trying to take the next step and doing whatever we can to stack these W’s,” Jenkins said.

Houston gets a chance for a W when they face the Tennessee Titans Sunday at 12:00 p.m. Central Time at Nissan Stadium. Houston has not beaten the Titans since Week 15 of 2019 as part of their last AFC South title.

DE Jordan Jenkins says Texans locker room was ‘down’ after loss to Dolphins

Houston Texans defensive end Jordan Jenkins says the locker room was down after the 17-9 loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 9.

The Houston Texans won the turnover battle five to four against the Miami Dolphins, but it wasn’t enough to win the game as the home side prevailed 17-9 at Hard Rock Stadium Sunday afternoon in Week 9.

According to defensive end Jordan Jenkins, the mood inside the locker room was solemn and downcast.

“You know, emotions definitely were — it hurts losing a close game like that,” said Jenkins, who finished with 1.5 sacks, three quarterback hits, two tackles for loss, and four combined tackles. “We were in it until the end. We had some great momentum shifts throughout the game. But it was down.”

It is understandable why the locker room would feel down. The Texans suffered their eighth consecutive loss after making a statement in Week 1 they weren’t going to be the NFL’s doormats with a 37-21 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, nothing has gone well for Houston since that win, which feels more like a subliminal message than a recent memory.

“But we came together and said we got two options,” Jenkins explained. “You either fold and just go out there with the mindset you’re going to lose every game, or you make the option, you do a reality check, look at yourself in the mirror and figure out what you’ve got to do to get better. If you can’t fight for yourself, fight for the man beside you.

“Because a lot of people got stuff going on back home, and you can’t be the one guy bringing it right now. If you can’t do it for yourself do it for everyone else fighting for their families to get fed.”

The Texans enter the bye week and have plenty of time for reflection and self-scout as they prepare to take on the AFC South-leading Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium on Nov. 14.
