SPECIAL DELIVERY: The A Ma Maniére ‘Airness’ Jordan 1 perfectly explains the state of sneaker culture

The gentrification of sneakers is real.

We’re living through a golden age in sneaker culture.

There are so many shoes released to the public each and every week from a number of different brands. Sneakerheads can literally take their pick on what their next find will be. We’re also living in a time where OG sneakers are right at our fingertips thanks to secondary market platforms.

Yet, somehow, it’s harder than ever to cop an even remotely coveted sneaker.

Each and every week we see it on Nike’s SNKRS app, on Adidas’ CONFIRMED, with various New Balance drops. There are so few pairs that you need a bot to buy them. Or you may just go straight to the secondary market and pay marked-up resale prices for a shoe you really want.

And it’s people who love this culture — the Black and brown people who built it into what it is — are often the ones who don’t get to participate because of all these barriers of entry.

That’s the story of “Airness.” That’s the story the A Ma Maniére Jordan 1 is telling us. It’s a story about the gentrification of sneakers.

Sykes and crew break it all down in the latest episode of Special Delivery. Tap in.

Nike’s SNKRS app broke the internet again with the Travis Scott Jordan 1 Low release

Here we go again.

Ah, a tradition unlike any other. A Friday morning with thousands of upset sneakerheads across the world taking their anger out on Nike’s SNKRS app. You absolutely love to see it.

Friday’s target was Travis Scott’s brand new Jordan 1 lows and, man, were these things ever going to be difficult to get.

Nike only stocks a few thousand pairs of NRG Jordan collaborations like this. They’re rare and exclusive. But there were literally millions of people anticipating these things releasing all summer.

When you add all of that up, what do you get? A ton of sneakerheads with broken hearts. It’s incredible.

Folks were so upset on the internet about an L they absolutely knew was coming.

Nike’s SNKRS app trended again after people missed out on the ‘Hyper Royal’ Jordan 1

Another Saturday, another SNKRS L

It looks like we have another Sadderday in the books, folks. Sneaker Twitter collectively went through it once again after another battle with Nike’s SNKRS app.

The Hyper Royal Jordan 1’s dropped on Saturday and they look absolutely incredible so, of course, everyone wanted to buy them.

But the W’s came few and far between for these joints when they dropped. People entered into a drawing on the SNKRS app for them and there were so many L’s.

And, of course, after the drop, everyone hopped on Twitter to complain about the L’s they just took. It was so bad because this shoe just looks amazing.

So yes, it was a Sadderday, indeed.
