Johnny Davis continued his hot stretch Tuesday, scoring a career-high 20 points in the Wizards’ 140-128 loss to the Bucks. Davis remained in the starting lineup for a second game in a row, increasing his production once again, also adding five rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks over 37 minutes.

The former Badger has been seeing his playing time increase recently as the Wizards continue to deal with injuries in their backcourt and he hasn’t disappointed. The rookie has compiled 36 points over his two starts and could possibly remain in the lineup for Washington’s last three games.

Part of his massive performance was a spectacular dunk over Jrue Holiday, which can be seen below:

Johnny Davis made his first NBA start on Sunday, and finished with 16 points and six rebounds.

Davis may have had a slow start to his NBA career with the Washington Wizards, but he has taken advantage of opportunities late in the season.

Davis had standout creation reps, solid defensive plays, and scored in multiple ways for the Wizards. He has had a few viral highlights over the last few weeks as he has gotten more and more NBA time. Over the Wizards’ last few games, except the former Wisconsin star to be in the fold and gaining experience.

Strong night for Davis in first career NBA start

Johnny Davis made his first career start for the Wizards on Sunday, scoring 16 points in the team’s 118-109 loss to the Knicks.

Johnny Davis made his first career start for the Wizards on Sunday, scoring 16 points in the team’s 118-109 loss to the Knicks. The rookie stepped into the starting lineup after both Bradley Beal (knee) and Monte Morris (ankle) were amongst the inactives.

With Kristaps Porzingis (illness) and Kyle Kuzma (ankle) also off the court, Davis had to step up his offensive effort. He went 6-for-11 from the field, including 2-for-6 from deep, while also snagging six rebounds and dishing out three assists over 30 minutes.

After a bumpy start to his professional career, Davis has turned a corner over the last couple weeks. Over his last four games, the rookie has averaged 12 points and 5.3 rebounds while playing 27.8 minutes per contest.

Badgers wing Davis enters transfer portal

Wisconsin wing Jordan Davis entered the transfer portal Thursday after three seasons with the Badgers.

Wisconsin wing Jordan Davis entered the transfer portal Thursday after three seasons with the Badgers. Davis averaged 5.1 points and 3.5 rebounds over 35 games with Wisconsin this season.

The 6-foot-4 athlete and his twin brother Johnny joined the Badgers’ men’s basketball team in 2021 after successful high school careers in La Crosse, Wisconsin. While Johnny quickly turned into one of the best players in the nation, Jordan operated mostly as a bench option.

After starting the first 16 games of the 2022-2023 season, Jordan Davis lost his starting role to freshman guard Connor Essegian. After that, Davis  started two games the rest of the way and his minutes dropped from 24.4 per game to 17.3 in the team’s final 19 contests.

With the Badgers having a crowded roster heading into the 2023-2024 campaign (only Tyler Wahl is potentially graduating), it makes sense Davis would want a fresh start elsewhere.

Coming into college, Davis was a three-star recruit. Considering the strides he has made on the defensive end, it will likely not take long for him to find a suitor for his talents.

Johnny Davis puts together a career-high night

It’s starting to click for Washington Wizards rookie Johnny Davis over the past few weeks.

The 2021-22 Big Ten Player of the Year had a slow start to his rookie campaign in the NBA, but is making the most of his increased role over the past couple of weeks.

Davis put it all together on Sunday night, dropping a career-high 15 points on  5 of 8 shooting from the field in a loss against the Toronto Raptors. He connected on three of his four 3-point attempts.

Keep an eye on the former Badger over the last two weeks of the regular season.

He has put together a few highlight drives over the past few weeks, including this one:

In November of 2021, the Wisconsin Badgers’ men’s basketball team won the Maui Jim Maui Invitational in Las Vegas. With the Badgers returning to Vegas for the NIT next week, the team posted a flashback Thursday.

The tournament victory in Las Vegas last season springboarded the Badgers into a very impressive 2021-2022 campaign, which ended with a share of the Big Ten regular season title and a 25-8 overall record.

Sophomore guard Johnny Davis burst onto the scene as one of the best players in the country and won the Big Ten Player of the Year award, averaging 19.7 points per game and 8.2 rebounds.

With Wisconsin set to face North Texas in the NIT semifinals Tuesday, they’ll look to recapture some of their dominance in Vegas once again in 2023.

WATCH: Johnny Davis has a big-time highlight for the Wizards

It hasn’t been the easiest of roads for Johnny Davis during his rookie season in the NBA. The No. 10 pick in the 2022 NBA draft has struggled to stick, but has played consistent minutes over the past two weeks for Washington.

The former La Crosse Central star played 23 minutes in Wednesday’s 118-104 loss to the Nuggets, and he had one of the early highlights of his NBA career.

We saw him elevate while going baseline more than a few times last season in his Big Ten Player of the Year campaign for the Badgers. Check out Davis attack the closeout and challenge the shot blocker to finish the sweet reverse layup:

Wisconsin men’s basketball all-time roster: Badger Legends

A look at the best Wisconsin Badger basketball players of all-time

Over the past few decades, Wisconsin basketball has been one of the most successful programs in the nation.

The Badgers have had greats at all five positions, a legendary head coach in Bo Ryan, and a trio of Final Four appearances since 2000.

We put together Wisconsin’s all-time starting five, backup five, and coaching staff to put the Badgers’ impressive history into perspective.

There were a number of easy choices such as National Player of the Year Frank Kaminsky, and ones that are sure to spark fair debate amongst Badger nation.

Here is a look at our BadgersWire all-time Wisconsin basketball roster:

Wizards’ Johnny Davis reacts to career performance in G League

Davis put up a career effort on Monday in the G League and nearly led the Go-Go to victory in the process.

Washington Wizards rookie Johnny Davis put up a career effort on Monday on assignment in the G League and nearly led the Capital City Go-Go to victory in the process.

Davis produced a season-high 25 points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal in a 125-124 loss to the Delaware Blue Coats. He finished 10-of-15 from the field, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range, in 32 minutes of action.

The 10th pick produced his first 20-point game of the season with the performance. He connected on his first five 3s of the game and had 16 points alone in the first half for his best outing of the season.

“The game is starting to flow for him, a little bit more like Wisconsin Johnny,” Go-Go head coach Mike Williams said, according to Wayne Cole on Twitter. “He got to his spots really well. He is starting to read the floor and see the game. He played a hell of a game.”

Davis has scored at least 17 points in three straight games on 50% shooting from the field for the first time this season. He has totaled only three turnovers over that span and has largely made the right decisions on or off the ball.

He is as comfortable as he has been all season.

“I think I’m just starting to feel a lot more comfortable while I play,” Davis said. “Normally, people are talking about you want to put yourself in uncomfortable situations and challenge yourself, and that’s how it was when I first got here. But I think now I’m starting to get into a rhythm and be more comfortable when I play.”

Davis has not cracked the Wizards’ rotation this season with so many veterans ahead of him on the roster. He has totaled 63 minutes across 13 appearances as the team has opted to keep him with the Go-Go throughout the season.

Wizards coach Wes Unseld Jr. previously noticed Davis has played with a different level of confidence recently and that is resulting in some of his best performances of the season. The opportunity to log consistent playing time with the Go-Go appears to be paying off for him.

The organization was ecstatic to add Davis through the draft and believes he has a bright future. The minutes in the G League should go a long way in Davis finding success in the NBA.

It’s been a challenging NBA start for Johnny Davis

It’s been a challenging NBA start for Johnny Davis

As a member of the Badgers last season, Johnny Davis was the recipient of the Big Ten Player of the Year award. The guard averaged 19.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game in his sophomore season with Wisconsin. He was able to beat out the likes of Keegan Murray and Jaden Ivey to earn the top honors in the conference.

Davis leveraged the fantastic season into being selected 10th overall by the Washington Wizards in the 2022 NBA Draft. Going from being a freshman who didn’t start a game to being a top-10 selection in under two years was quite the accomplishment.

That being said, Davis has had a difficult start to his NBA career and as we’ve passed the mid-way point in the season, the guard has had little-to-no impact at the professional level this year.

Davis has struggled to see much action in his rookie campaign, appearing in only 10 games with the Wizards so far, scoring a total of 11 points over 50 minutes. He’s bounced back and forth between the G-League’s Capital City Go-Go and the active roster.

The 20-year-old has played in three games with the Go-Go, averaging 11.3 points and 3.3 rebounds while playing nearly 28 minutes per contest in his limited action. Over the past month, the former Badger has been nursing a hip injury and is expected to make his return to the court in the near future.

Although it has been a tough start to his career, the Wizards’ head coach Wes Unseld Jr. has been impressed with the composure Davis has shown and is encouraged by the guard’s development this season.

With a little under half of the season remaining, Davis will likely get a chance to see extended run with the Go-Go and could earn himself a role on the Wizards’ roster down the stretch.
