The Alabama Crimson Tide Mens Basketball team defeated the Belmont Bruins with a final score of 92 – 72 to improve their record to 6 – 5.

Head coach Nate Oats’ philosophy of more shots in as little time as possible was the key to winning the game for Alabama.

The Crimson Tide attempted a total of 67 shots and made 34 of them for a field goal percentage of 50.7 percent.

Offensively, the starting five were all consistent in their scoring. The highest scorer was Jaden Shackelford with 16 points and the lowest scorer out of the five was Alex Reese with 13 points.

John Petty is the star of the game with 14 points two forced turnovers, two steals, four assists and 11 rebounds.

Alabama is seemingly on the rise after finding their groove in the first ten games of the season.

As they near SEC play it looks as if Oats’ play-style is finally starting to clique and result in some wins for this Alabama team.

Alabama will face Richmond in their next matchup at home on Dec. 29 before starting conference play vs. Florida on Jan. 4 in Gainesville.

Alabama basketball drops road loss to Penn State

Nate Oats and the Alabama Crimson Tide Men’s basketball team will be leaving Penn State with a losing record as they came within a field goal of taking down the Nittany Lions with a final score of 71-73.

James Bolden was the offensive star of the game, scoring 15 off the bench, and Alex Reese made his presence felt putting up 12 points.

Overall, Coach Oats’ offensive style makes the box score look a little ugly but it puts points on the board.

The Crimson Tide went 27-77 on field goals, 9-34 on threes and still struggling on free throws as they only sank 8 of 14.

Herb Jones came out of the game looking like a star as he had eight rebounds, three steals, two assists, a lone block and six points.

Alabama will now look to take on Samford on Dec. 18 to bring their record back up to .500 and hopefully improve their resume so that they can dance in March.

Nate Oats and the Alabama Crimson Tide Mens Basketball team dropped their third game of the season (2-3) against the North Carolina Tar Heels (5-0) in ‘Battle 4 Atlantis.’

The final score of the contest was much closer than many had anticipated (76-67).

Alabama stays strong in the first half, entering halftime only down by six points.

The Tide wasn’t able to overcome the deficit in the second half and lost by nine, which should still be a moral victory for the program seeing that the Tar Heels entered this matchup as the sixth best team in the nation.

Offensively, Alabama just didn’t appear to be all there.

The team shot for a combined 38 percent on field goals, 35 percent for threes and a miserable 44 percent from the line.

The only two valuable offensive pieces tonight were John Petty and Kira Lewis Jr., both of whom were the only players that played over 35 minutes.

Petty led the team with 23 points, while Lewis was right behind him with 20.

The Alabama defense wasn’t terrible as they had six steals, four blocks and 14 turnovers.

The 2019 – 2020 college basketball season is still young, and while the Crimson Tide are currently under .500 on the year, it’s not time to panic yet.

Nate Oats is set to lead his team into the next round of the ‘Battle 4 Atlantis’ against the Iowa State Cyclones, who lost in round one against Michigan.

The Alabama men’s basketball team (1-1) will play its first road game of the 2019 season on Friday as they take on Rhode Island (1-1) at 6:30 p.m. CT on Friday.

Below is a summary of how you can watch and/or listen to that game

Despite being on the road, the Crimson Tide is currently favored by 1.5 points, according to BetMGM.

Alabama started the season 0-1 after dropping an ugly 80-81 loss to Penn at home, but they bounced back in its second game of the season when they sent Florida Atlantic home with a 59-78 loss to even the record at 1-1.

The Crimson Tide currently has three different players averaging double-digit points per game, which included point guard Kira Lewis (23.0 points), guard/forward Jaden Shackelford (16.5) and Javian Davis (10.5).

John Petty Jr. is currently leading the team in rebounds per game (7.5) while also averaging 9.0 points.

It’s been an unfortunate start to the season with the injuries and NCAA’s waiver denial regarding Jahvon Quinerly, but Friday night is an opportunity for head coach Nate Oats and the rest of the team to get over the .500 mark.
