After a series of roster moves, the Pittsburgh Steelers have re-stocked their practice squad. The team has announced they have added safety John Battle and offensive tackle Brandon Walton to the practice squad ahead of this week’s game with the Denver Broncos.

The Steelers were forced to do some serious roster shuffling this week due to multiple injuries along the offensive line. First the Steelers put starting right tackle Zach Banner on IR with a knee injury and followed it up with offensive guard Stefen Wisniewski who went on IR with a pec injury.

This forced the Steelers to promote Derwin Gray from the practice squad and sign former Steeler Jerald Hawkins from the Houston Texans practice squad. Hawkins and Gray will both be on the 53-man roster this week when the Steelers take on the Broncos.

Steelers sign S John Battle to Futures contract

The Steelers announce another roster addition.

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced another roster move on Thursday. Pittsburgh has signed safety John Battle to a Futures contract for the 2020 offseason. Teams use a Futures contract to try to lock up players they are hoping have some potential ahead of the start of free agency and give them their 90-man roster for offseason workouts.

Battle played college football at LSU. He went undrafted but spent last season on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad. Battle should have a chance to work for a depth position among the Steelers safeties.
