Philadelphia 76ers star big man Joel Embiid has irrevocably linked himself to the term “The Process.” Coined to describe the team’s unorthodox rebuild plan, Embiid, arguably the crown jewel of that movement, adopted the term as his nickname and has since become synonymous with the phrase.
The two have become so linked, and so much a part of pop culture, that they were a part of a “Jeopardy” question on Wednesday. Based on the answer the question elicited, “The Process” clearly hasn’t reached full saturation just yet.
Legendary host Alex Trebek asked contestants: “Joel Embiid in 2019 won the trademark for this nickname of his that also describes the 76ers’ strategy of improving the team.” The one brave contestant willing to offer a guess missed the mark in a big way.
“What is do a 180?” was the response and across the Delaware Valley viewers were left shaking their heads.

Yeah, we’ve never heard of Joel “Do a 180” Embiid either.
The gentleman who so badly missed the answer was in the lead at the time, so he’s clearly a smart guy. But it’s safe to say sports isn’t his strong point.
Sixers fans are sure to have a good time with this one. [lawrence-related id=26790,26492]
