Joe Montana explains why Tom Brady should stay with the Patriots

It’s a process to go through, and it takes time to get used to the team.

If Tom Brady were to take in advice on his future from anyone, Joe Montana would be the guy.

Brady, 42, has a looming free agency decision ahead of him after playing for the New England Patriots for 20 years. He’s hitting free agency for the first time in his career is opening himself up to the possibility of leaving. Speculation has floated around heavily over the past few months, and many people have inserted their opinions.

Montana, a Hall of Famer with four Super Bowl rings, provides an opinion that’s extremely valid. He spent 13 years in his career with the San Francisco 49ers and finished off his last two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs.

He shared some advice for Brady while speaking with NFL Network’s Michael Silver.

“Don’t — if you don’t have to,” Montana said. “It’s a process to go through, and it takes time to get used to the team.”

It’s not easy to go to another team and get accepted, no matter how much success you’ve had and how many years you’ve played. They still want to see you come in and be the same player and be that loyal to them as you were to the other team you just left. So, it’s not easy [for] guys looking at that change, especially at the quarterback position.”

Patriots owner Robert Kraft doesn’t want the legendary quarterback to go anywhere, and Brady’s in a position to still compete for championships with New England. If winning is his ultimate goal, it’s likely that his best chance of doing it is in Foxborough. Brady still has some time to make a decision, and the whole NFL world will be curiously waiting for that time to come.

I just can’t see how they would let him leave there, myself,” Montana said.

Monday, four-time Super Bowl champ and Pro Football Hall of Famer Joe Montana made the best big game prediction of all.

With the Super Bowl 54 teams decided, predictions are rolling in.

Monday, four-time Super Bowl champ and Pro Football Hall of Famer Joe Montana made the best big game prediction of all.

Montana tweeted, “You heard from me first. I GUARANTEE my team will win the SUPER BOWL!!”

Now, if you’re like me .. hearing that (without seeing the accompanying picture) may lead you to believe Montana is picking the team he won all four super bowls with and played 14 seasons with .. San Francisco .. instead of the team he finished career with, Kansas City. Then, there’s also the fact that the former quarterback’s Twitter profile picture is him in his 49ers uniform and helmet.

But, Montana kept the prediction neutral, sharing a picture of his two framed uniforms .. the No. 19 Kansas City Chiefs on the wall beside the No. 16 San Francisco 49ers jersey.

To his credit, Montana is now guaranteed a correct pick and a win .. even if neither team is. Kyle Shanahan’s and Andy Reid’s teams kickoff at 6:30 E.T. in Miami on Feb. 2.

Joe Montana makes the perfect Chiefs-49ers Super Bowl matchup joke

Well played.

Over the next two weeks, you’re going to be hearing A LOT about how legendary Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana played for both the San Francisco 49ers (for 13 seasons) and the Kansas City Chiefs (for two years).

Some have already started calling Super Bowl 54 “the Joe Montana Bowl” and wondered if the NFL can get the all-time great to do the coin toss, which is a great idea.

But until Monday afternoon, we hadn’t heard from Montana himself. How would he address the fact that both teams he played for would be facing off for the Lombardi Trophy?

Here’s how:

Oh yes. YES. Perfect tweet. Good work. Others agreed:

Joe Montana guarantees Super Bowl LIV victory for …

Joe Montana has made his pick for Super Bowl LIV. And the big winner is the Hall of Fame QB.

Now this is a great call! Joe Montana made a guarantee about Super Bowl LIV. And the Hall of Fame quarterback can’t be wrong.

How’s that?

Montana spent the bulk of his career starring for the San Francisco 49ers before moving on to Kansas City to finish out.

He still knows how to make the perfect calls. Though this one won’t be considered quite as brash as Joe Namath’s before Super Bowl III.

This team earns its spot for what it accomplished as much as its victory over the Colts in Super Bowl III. The strong argument can be made that without the brash and bold leadership of Joe Namath and his teammates, the NFL could have kept rolling Super Bowl after Super Bowl. Once the Jets won, and the Chiefs followed, there was little choice but for the NFL to accept the AFL and it has created the football we love today.
