MSU target, 2023 3-star OL Joe Crocker commits to Mississippi State

A Michigan State target in the 2023 recruiting cycle will be heading to a different MSU

A Michigan State target in the 2023 recruiting cycle will be heading to a different MSU.

Three-star offensive lineman Joe Crocker announced on Monday that he’ll be committing to Mississippi State. Crocker picked the Bulldogs over his other two finalists: Michigan State and Wisconsin.

Crocker hails from Nashville and is ranked as the No. 39 offensive tackle in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2023 class. He is also ranked as the No. 483 overall prospect.

Crocker holds offers from 30 programs so it was great to see the Spartans be one of his finalists. Michigan State could be landing another higher-rated offensive tackle prospect in Payton Kirkland later this month, so not getting Crocker could be somewhat irrelevant if that occurs.

Wisconsin’s four-star OT target Joe Crocker commits to SEC school

Wisconsin misses on their top OL target in the 2023 recruiting class:

Earlier this month, 2023, four-star offensive tackle Joe Crocker, who holds an offer from Wisconsin, trimmed his list of schools down to three.

On Monday evening, Crocker announced that he was officially committing to Mississippi State.

According to the Rivals recruiting database, Crocker is the No. 40 OT in the country and the No. 8 player in the state of Tennessee.

The 6-foot-6, 305-pound Franklin Road Academy standout also held offers from Wisconsin, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and several other Power 5 schools.

The four-star OT was Wisconsin’s top remaining target at the position and will now head back to the drawing board.

Crocker, a native of Nashville, Tennessee, announced his commitment to Mississippi State via his Twitter account:

MSU target, 3-star OL Joe Crocker to announce commitment next week

An offensive lineman prospect on the Spartans’ recruiting board will announce his commitment next week

An offensive lineman prospect on the Spartans’ recruiting board will announce his commitment next week.

Three-star offensive tackle Joe Crocker will announce his college decision on July 18 from Franklin Road Academy. Crocker hails from Nashville, Tenn., and is considering Michigan State, Wisconsin and Mississippi State as three finalists.

Crocker is ranked as the No. 38 offensive tackle and No. 468 overall prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings. He holds offers from 30 different programs ranging across four of the five power five conferences and a host of group five schools.

There are some mixed crystal ball predictions on 247Sports for Crocker but none are in favor of the Spartans. He most recently has picked up predictions in favor of the Bulldogs but last month recruiting guru Steve Wiltfong had him going to Wisconsin. So there may be a chance that Crocker is undecided and Michigan State is still truly in the running. We will find out soon enough, though.
