Jaguars sign 2 offensive linemen to practice squad

The Jaguars filled a couple practice squad vacancies with veteran offensive linemen.

The Jacksonville Jaguars made a few roster moves along their offensive line Monday, moving Cam Robinson to the injured reserve, sliding Chandler Brewer from the practice squad to the active roster, and adding two new players to the practice squad.

Jimmy Murray, 28, will make his return to the Jaguars practice squad where he spent the entire 2022 season. He also had previous stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, and Baltimore Ravens.

Keaton Sutherland, 26, will also join the Jaguars after last spending preseason and training camp with the Houston Texans before getting waived at the end of August. He previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers, and Washington Commanders.

The Jaguars lost an offensive lineman from the practice squad last week when the San Francisco 49ers scooped up former fourth-round draft pick Ben Bartch to add him to their active roster. The other vacancy came from the move to put Brewer on the 53-man roster.

With Robinson out of action, the Jaguars will start Walker Little at left tackle and move Ezra Cleveland into the starting lineup at left guard.

Titans sign C Jimmy Murray, waive WR Jacob Copeland

The Titans added some much-needed depth to the offensive line with the signing of Jimmy Murray.

The Tennessee Titans added some much-needed depth to the offensive line on Wednesday when they signed center Jimmy Murray.

In a corresponding roster move, Tennessee parted ways with rookie wide receiver Jacob Copeland.

Murray, a former undrafted free agent out of Holy Cross, has spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets, Baltimore Ravens, and Jacksonville Jaguars since entering the league back in 2018.

Murray also spent a brief period on the Titans’ practice squad back in 2021.

However, Murray has suited up in just two regular season games in his NFL career, both with the Chiefs during his rookie season.

Now that he’s signed, it’s time to shift his focus toward trying to carve out a role on this football team, although that may be an uphill battle, to be perfectly honest.

Tennessee’s newest offensive lineman has already defied the odds by making it to the NFL as a former walk-on at Holy Cross, and he will try to do so once again as a member of the Titans.

The odds may be against him, but the opportunity for Murray is undoubtedly there for the taking if he’s able to seize it over these next few weeks.

Ravens waive C Jimmy Murray

The Ravens waived center Jimmy Murray

The Baltimore Ravens are in the process of trimming their roster down to 53 players for the start of the 2022 season. They’ve already made moves to get down from 90 to 85 players as well as 85 to 80, but by Tuesday at 4pm EST must have their final 53 set in stone.

On Monday, Baltimore announced that they waived center Jimmy Murray along with punter Cameron Dicker. The punter’s release was made known through the transaction wire on Sunday, but both moves were formally announced by the team on Monday.

Murray spent part of the 2021 season on Baltimore’s practice squad, and was brought back by the team for the 2022 offseason. He signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2018, and has also spent time with the New York Jets and Tennessee Titans.

Ravens sign OL to practice squad, work out another

The Ravens signed an offensive lineman to their practice squad and worked out another

The Baltimore Ravens have had to find different ways to maneuver their roster over the course of the 2021 season. That hasn’t changed as they get ready to take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 16, as injuries and now COVID-19 have taken their toll on the team.

On Wednesday, the team announced a flurry of roster moves, and among them was the signing of center Jimmy Murray to their practice squad. Baltimore needs offensive line depth badly, and Murray will provide another option at center while backup center Trystan Colon is still on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic also shed light on the fact that the team worked out offensive tackle Adrian Ealy, who was with the team on the practice squad for part of the year already.

Murray played football at Holy Cross, and signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He’s also spent time with the New York Jets and Tennessee Titans.

Ealy signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2021, and spent all of training camp and the preseason with the team. Baltimore let go of Ealy during the last round of cuts, but brought him back on their practice squad, where he would stay until being released a few months later. If Ealy is brought back, he would be offensive tackle depth on a unit that is missing multiple key contributors.

Tua Tagovailoa doubtful for Dolphins vs. Jets, Ryan Fitzpatrick likely to start

The Dolphins are likely to be without Tua Tagovailoa against the Jets in Week 12.

The Dolphins will likely be without Tua Tagovailoa when they travel to MetLife Stadium to take on the Jets on Sunday afternoon.

Tagovailoa has been downgraded to doubtful for Miami’s Week 12 matchup after injuring his left thumb in practice on Wednesday, per NFL Network’s Mike Garofolo. With Tagovailoa unlikely to play, Ryan Fitzpatrick is set to start for the first time since the Dolphins defeated New York, 21-0, in Week 6. Fitzpatrick shined in that game, throwing for 191 yards and three touchdowns.

The Jets also made a pair of injury-related moves on Saturday, adding Jimmy Murray to the active roster and placing Patrick Onwuasor on injured reserve. New York is dealing with quite a few injuries along its offensive line, as Chuma Edoga (ankle) and George Fant (knee/ankle) are doubtful for Sunday’s game. Connor McDermott is expected to start at right tackle.

Murray has jumped back and forth between the Jets’ practice squad and active roster in 2020, appearing on New York’s gameday roster five times. However, Murray has yet to play in a game for the Jets this season.

Onwuasor was activated from injured reserve on Nov. 18 after suffering a non-contact knee injury in training camp. The veteran linebacker played only eight special teams snaps against the Chargers last weekend before injuring his hamstring.

Jets activate Le’Veon Bell off injured reserve after three-game absence

The Jets activated Le’Veon Bell off injured reserve after he missed the last three games with a hamstring injury.

After a three-game absence caused by a hamstring injury, Le’Veon Bell will make his return against the Cardinals on Sunday.

The Jets activated Bell off injured reserve after he spent the last three weeks on it with a hamstring injury. New York also signed Jimmy Murray to the active roster and promoted Mike White and Lamar Jackson from the practice squad. Alec Ogletree and Josh Malone were both released.

Bell should be a boost to a Jets’ running game that has struggled so far in 2020. As a team, the Jets are averaging 98.5 rushing yards per game, good for 26th in the league.

Murray will serve as an extra offensive lineman with Mekhi Becton listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game. White will be the backup quarterback behind incumbent starter Joe Flacco.

Jackson made his debut last week against the Broncos and two tackles and a pass breakup. He’ll be needed if Bless Austin can’t go, as he is listed as questionable with a calf injury.
