LSU receives prediction to flip 4-star safety from Houston

The Tigers are trending to flip Jacob Bradford from Houston.

LSU recently received some good news on the recruiting front as the Tigers are projected to flip a four-star safety who is currently committed to Houston.

[autotag]Jacob Bradford[/autotag] is a 5-foot-11, 195-pound, four-star safety from LSU’s backyard. He plays for Catholic High School in Baton Rouge. Bradford is a member of the 2025 recruiting class and he has been committed to Houston since June 23.

LSU currently has the No. 4 overall 2025 recruiting class. The Tigers currently have two safety commits for the class. [autotag]CJ Jimcoily[/autotag] and [autotag]Jhase Thomas[/autotag] are both three-star safeties who are committed to LSU.

There are currently 26 commitments for the class, headlined by three five-star players. [autotag]Bryce Underwood[/autotag], [autotag]DJ Pickett[/autotag], and [autotag]Derek Meadows[/autotag] are the five-star players committed to LSU.

If Bradford were to commit and sign with the Tigers, it would be a big pickup for [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag]. He continues to try to recruit the boot at a high rate.

LSU wide receiver target receives offer from Tigers track and field

A four-star LSU football target recently received a track offer, too.

Four-star Louisiana receiver [autotag]Phillip Wright[/autotag] committed to Michigan earlier this month, but that hasn’t stopped LSU from trying to flip the blue-chip prospect.

Now, Wright will have the opportunity to run track at LSU along with playing football.

Wright, who’s earned the nickname “Flash,” runs a 10.46 100m, making him one of the fastest receivers in his class. We’ve seen LSU put a premium on speed at the receiver position in recent years, making Wright a perfect fit in the [autotag]Joe Sloan[/autotag] and [autotag]Cortez Hankton[/autotag] offense.

Wright hails from Destrehan High, a place that LSU is familiar with. LSU already has one Destrehan commit in 2025 with safety [autotag]Jhase Thomas[/autotag] locked it. It’s the school that produced former LSU star [autotag]Justin Jefferson[/autotag] and current LSU running back [autotag]John Emery Jr.[/autotag]

Top prospects from Louisiana rarely leave to head up north. It’s even rarer at Destrehan. Wright was at LSU this weekend for the Bayou Splash but remained firm with his Michigan pledge for now.

LSU knows it continues to have a chance with top instate products until that dotted line is signed. Last year, the state’s top prospect [autotag]Dominick McKinley[/autotag] committed to Texas A&M, but LSU stuck with it and eventually signed the five-star defensive tackle.

The Tigers will hope for a similar outcome with Wright this year.

5-star LSU safety target sets commitment date

LSU is trending for Jonah Williams, who is set to make his decision next month.

One of the top safeties in the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag] has announced his commitment date. Five-star safety [autotag]Jonah Williams[/autotag] will announce his commitment on Aug. 24.

Williams will decide between LSU, Texas A&M, USC, Oregon and Texas. At this time, Texas A&M has received three crystal ball projections to land him per 247Sports. According to On3, the Oregon Ducks are a 50% favorite to land him.

LSU’s 2025 recruiting class is currently ranked as the No. 4 overall class in the country by 247Sports. The Tigers class currently has three five-star commitments. [autotag]Bryce Underwood[/autotag], [autotag]DJ Pickett[/autotag], and [autotag]Derek Meadows[/autotag] are the three five-star commits right now. Underwood plays quarterback, Pickett is a cornerback, and Meadows is a wide receiver. Williams could join that list and elevate the LSU class even further up the board.

There is currently one safety commit in this class, [autotag]Jhase Thomas[/autotag], a three-star safety from Destrehan, Louisiana. Hopefully, [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] can bring another top-10 recruiting class to the Bayou.

New LSU safety commit Jhase Thomas says playing for Tigers was his ‘dream’

Jhase Thomas, who only recently received recruiting interest from the Tigers, explained why he’s taking his talents to Baton Rouge.

LSU continues to add to its 2025 recruiting class, and on Saturday, it landed a commitment from four-star Destrehan safety [autotag]Jhase Thomas[/autotag].

Thomas committed to the in-state Tigers over Houston, Ole Miss and Colorado. A player who didn’t get on LSU’s radar until late in the cycle and only picked up an offer in June, Thomas told On3’s Chad Simmons that it was his dream to play in Baton Rouge.

“Being a Louisiana kid, your dream is to get that LSU offer,” Thomas said. “It’s a dream that you grow up with, so being able to have the opportunity to go to that school is a dream come true. It’s always been a dream of mine that I’ve wanted to make happen.”

Thomas picked up an offer at LSU’s elite camp, and though he took multiple official visits after that, he reportedly told coach [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] upon being offered that he would be a Tiger. He told On3 that he’s optimistic about the program’s trajectory.

“I feel like we’ll definitely be a national championship team this year,” Thomas said. “We’ll still be one when I get there.”

He added that Kelly is a strong leader but also someone he enjoys being around.

“He’s a very chill coach,” Thomas said. “… He has a very good personality. He can light up a room, for sure. He’s a very funny guy and a great coach. We’ve been building our relationship since the first day that he contacted me. He texts and calls me every day. We stay in contact and talk to each other about football and life in general.”

LSU’s 2025 class, which sits at 16 total commitments with Thomas now on board, ranks No. 6 nationally per 247Sports and No. 5 per On3.

4-star Destrehan safety Jhase Thomas commits to LSU

LSU got in the game late for Jhase Thomas, but after offering him last month, he’s on board.

LSU added another piece to its 2025 recruiting class on Saturday with the commitment of [autotag]Jhase Thomas[/autotag], an in-state four-star safety from Destrehan.

Thomas ranks as the No. 570 player nationally and a three-star prospect according to On3’s industry rankings, but its own rankings are much higher on him, ranking him No. 270 and giving him four stars.

LSU was late getting in the mix for Thomas, who earned a scholarship on June 13 with a strong showing at LSU’s Elite Camp. Now, he gets the chance to play for his dream school, as he described it to On3’s Chad Simmons.

“Being a Louisiana kid, your dream is to get that LSU offer,” Thomas said. “It’s a dream that you grow up with, so being able to have the opportunity to go to that school is a dream come true. It’s always been a dream of mine that I’ve wanted to make happen.”

Thomas isn’t the only Destrehan prospect committing on Saturday. His teammate, three-star receiver [autotag]Phillip Wright III[/autotag], is set to make a decision as well with LSU among his finalists, though Michigan is seen as the clear favorite in that recruitment.

While Thomas’ addition didn’t change the national ranking for LSU’s class, which remains No. 5 per On3, it was a nice pickup that will help as the staff tries to close out a top-five finish in the cycle.

LSU receives flood of predictions ahead of 4-star safety’s commitment date

The Tigers got in the mix late for Destrehan prospect Jhase Thomas, but they’ve made up for lost time.

Destrehan safety [autotag]Jhase Thomas[/autotag] received late interest from LSU, only earning a scholarship offer in June, but the Tigers have made up for lost time in the weeks since.

Thomas is set to announce his commitment on Saturday between a list of finalists that includes Houston, Ole Miss, Texas Tech and Colorado in addition to the Tigers. However, the in-state program seems like the clear team to beat now.

LSU has received multiple recent predictions to land Thomas, including a trio of projections from On3 and crystal balls from 247Sports. Further, LSU Country’s Zack Nagy is now also projecting that Thomas will commit to the Tigers on Saturday.

Thomas ranks as a three-star prospect outside the top 500 in both 247Sports and On3’s industry rankings. However, On3’s own rankings are the highest on him of any service, ranking him as a four-star and inside the top 300.

LSU is pushing for a top-five class in the cycle, and though Thomas wouldn’t move the needle a ton due to his ranking, it’s clear he’s a player the staff wants after getting in the mix late.

LSU projected to land pair of defensive back recruits this month

The Tigers’ hot streak on the trail could continue if they can close the deal with this safety duo.

It’s been a busy July on the recruiting trail for LSU, and the Tigers added a trio of defensive line prospects to the 2025 class during the holiday week.

Now, coach Brian Kelly and staff are turning their attention to rebuilding the secondary. They lost a commitment from top Louisiana cornerback [autotag]Jaboree Antoine[/autotag], though they remain firmly in the mix for him, but they now are favored to land a pair of safety prospects.

Three-star Destrehan prospect [autotag]Jhase Thomas[/autotag] ranks outside the top 500 nationally, but after picking up a late offer from the Tigers following an impressive camp outing, LSU is clearly in the driver’s seat here. It holds several crystal ball projections from 247Sports and is the heavy favorite per On3 for Thomas, who commits on July 13.

Meanwhile, LSU is also in a good position for four-star Nashville safety [autotag]CJ Jimcoily[/autotag]. The top-400 prospect is reportedly down to LSU and Stanford, and while he holds no crystal ball projections, On3 does see the Tigers as the slight favorite at this point.

According to LSU Country’s Zack Nagy, he’s set to make an announcement in late July.

The Tigers are pushing for a top-five class in the 2025 cycle, and landing this secondary duo would certainly help.

Colorado among five finalists for Louisiana safety Jhase Thomas

Jhase Thomas will announce his commitment on July 13

The Colorado Buffaloes have been after class of 2025 safety Jhase Thomas for over a year, first offering the Louisiana product in May 2023. That perseverance has paid off, as Sam Spiegelman of Rivals reported Wednesday that Colorado is among five finalists for the NFL legacy.

Colorado is joined in Thomas’ final five by the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Houston Cougars, Old Miss Rebels and LSU Tigers. One of those schools will add to its 2025 class soon, as Thomas will announce his college commitment on July 13.

According to both Rivals and 247Sports, Thomas is a three-star prospect. Listed at 6-foot-1 and 183 pounds, Thomas shows good coverage skills and a nose for the football. He has also played on the offensive side of the ball as a wide receiver and has returned punts.

Thomas’ father, Fred, played 12 seasons in the NFL as a cornerback.

Pair of blue-chip LSU recruiting targets to announce commitments this week

LSU could add to its already strong 2025 class with a pair of four-star prospects this week.

LSU’s 2025 recruiting class is already one of the best in the nation, and it could be set to get even better this week.

A pair of LSU targets are scheduled to make their decisions in four-star Indianapolis EDGE [autotag]Damien Shanklin[/autotag] and four-star Lufkin, Texas, defensive lineman [autotag]Zion Williams[/autotag]. The latter will commit on July 4 this Thursday, while the former, who ranks inside the top 100 nationally, will make his decision the following day.

LSU has received multiple predictions to land both players and currently seems to have a significant lead in their recruitment.

Shanklin and Williams aren’t the only Tigers targets deciding in the near future. Four-star receiver [autotag]Cortez Mills[/autotag], considered an Oklahoma lean, is committing on Monday, while in-state safety [autotag]Jhase Thomas[/autotag] will announce a decision on July 13.

It seems like a two-team race for Thomas between LSU and Ole Miss, though the Tigers look like the clear favorite.
