Jets see two players claimed off waivers Wednesday

Two Jets claimed off waivers Wednesday.

The Jets cut their roster down to 53 players Tuesday and some of the players they waived they were hoping would clear waivers and can be stashed on their practice squad. Some did, some did not.

Per the NFL transaction wire and NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Jets had two players claimed off waivers, meaning they will be a part of the active rosters for their respective new teams.

Center Trystan Colon was one of six players claimed by the Arizona Cardinals. Colon might have been a practice squad candidate.

One player that did get claimed that certainly would have been a practice squad addition was linebacker Claudin Cherelus, who was claimed by the Carolina Panthers. He was one of three players claimed by Carolina.

The Jets were not awarded any players off waivers, so for now, their roster is set for the most part. Some moves will still be made as they also add to their practice squad.

The Jets have already made a pair of waiver wire pickups, including Quinnen Williams’ brother. Keep track of Gang Green’s claims here:

With the waiver claims deadline nearing, the Jets have begun fine-tuning their roster after trimming down from 80 to 53 players. Other teams, meanwhile, have claimed some of their cuts in hopes of turning Gang Green’s trash into their treasure.

The Jets are second in the waiver priority order, giving Joe Douglas prime real estate to infuse New York’s roster with talent ahead of the regular season.

Jets awarded zero players on waivers, but none of their cuts were claimed

The Jets didn’t put in a waiver claim for any player, while none of their cuts were claimed by other teams.

In a surprising move, Joe Douglas and the Jets did not claim any players on waivers.

The Jets didn’t put in a claim for any player on waivers, but none of their cuts were claimed by other teams. In total, only 17 players were claimed by NFL teams on waivers Sunday. With COVID-19 protocols in place, it does take longer than usual to get a player on the practice field, which could ave contributed to the low number of claims.

The Jets were No. 11 in the waiver order.

The Jets have to put players on their respective injured lists as well. They have a few eligible players, which will open up a few roster spots. So the Jets still have to time to add some players.

For now, it seems like the Jets are making sure they keep their own guys by placing them on the practice squad. At the moment, the Jets have filled six of 16 spots on their practice squad.
