Jets part of three most-watched games in 2023 season to date

The Jets are now part of the three most-watched games in 2023 season to date

For one reason or another, there have been plenty of eyes on the New York Jets this season. With or without Aaron Rodgers.

The Jets are coming off a huge upset of the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 6 and a lot of fans tuned in to watch them do it. Sunday’s Jets-Eagles game is the most-watched game in the NFL this season. 26 million people had their eyes on their TV for this one.

New York had already been a part of the two highest-rated games this season entering Week 6, so now the top three most-viewed games have featured the Jets. As would be expected, those two games were the two primetime appearances thus far for the Jets, which were Week 1 against the Bills (Rodgers’ short-lived debut) and Week 4 against the reigning champion Chiefs (featuring Taylor Swift).

The Jets still have three more primetime games — a Week 9 Monday night game against the Chargers, Sunday night in Week 10 in Las Vegas and a Week 17 Thursday trip to Cleveland — as well as their Black Friday matchup with the Miami Dolphins. Plenty of time remains for more eyes to be on the Jets.

Robert Saleh says Jets have ’embarrassed’ the ‘QB gauntlet’ they faced in first six weeks

Robert Saleh says Jets have ’embarrassed’ the ‘QB gauntlet’ they faced

Josh Allen, Dak Prescott, Mac Jones, Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, Jalen Hurts. Yes, those are all people who have never been in your kitchen. They are also the six quarterbacks the Jets have faced to this point in the 2023 season. Or as head coach Robert Saleh called it, the “quarterback gauntlet”.

Ok, maybe not Jones or Wilson, but the other four are certainly top-notch quarterbacks. And according to Saleh, the Jets “embarrassed” them.

“Through these first six weeks we’ve played a gauntlet of quarterbacks,” Saleh said, via NJ.com. “And I know we haven’t gotten all wins but we’ve embarrassed all of them. And I’m just really, really proud of the defense and its resolve.”

The Jets navigated what was on paper a brutal early-season stretch to a 3-3 record and will take a two-game winning streak into their bye week following a huge 20-14 win over the previously undefeated Philadelphia Eagles.

While “embarrassed” may be a strong word, the Jets have held opposing quarterbacks in check. In fact, Jets quarterback Zach Wilson has games so far this season in which he finished with a better quarterback rating than Allen, Mahomes and Hurts. As a reminder, Mahomes won the MVP Award last season with Hurts and Allen right behind him in second and third in voting.

Only two quarterbacks finished with a quarterback rating over 100 against the Jets this season: Prescott (112.2) and, perhaps surprisingly, Wilson (103.7).

The others?

Allen – 62.7
Jones – 85.6
Mahomes – 63.6
Hurts – 59.5

Allen and Hurts each threw three interceptions against the Jets and Mahomes had two. Wilson also became the first quarterback to post better numbers in a game against Mahomes in either college or the NFL. Wilson went 28 of 39 for 245 yards and two touchdowns against the Chiefs. Mahomes was 18 of 30 for 203 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Only two quarterbacks, Prescott (255) and Hurts (280), have hit 250 passing yards against the Jets this season.

The Jets’ defense is doing their part once again. This time, the offense is doing enough to have a chance to win the games, almost getting the job done in Week 4 against the Chiefs and finishing the job in the last two weeks against the Broncos and Eagles.

The Jets’ upcoming opposing quarterbacks, if they are healthy, include Daniel Jones, Justin Herbert and Jimmy Garoppolo. The Jets could very well get to at least 5-4, if not 6-3, if they continue to “embarrass” opposing quarterbacks.

Studs and duds from Jets’ 20-14 win over Eagles

Studs and duds from Jets’ 20-14 win over Eagles

Very few people gave the Jets a chance against the Eagles. This site even predicted them to lose by two scores. Yet somehow, some way, the Jets found a way to defeat the previously undefeated Philadelphia Eagles and enter their bye week at 3-3 and on a two-game winning streak.

The Jets were battered and bruised but never wavered. As a result, they have their first win ever against the Eagles and were able to navigate a brutal early-season schedule to a 3-3 record when they very easily could have ended up 2-4 or even 1-5.

Which players stepped up big-time for the Jets in this win? Who stepped aside? Did anybody step aside? Here’s our studs and duds for Week 6.

Jets players take to Twitter to share excitement over ending Eagles’ unbeaten season

Jets players take to Twitter to share excitement over ending Eagles’ unbeaten season

Yo, Adrian, they did it! The New York Jets have defeated the Philadelphia Eagles for the first time ever. Like, ever. All-time. They had never beaten the Eagles in the regular season until Sunday. October 15, 2023 will go down as a major day for the New York Jets.

Not only did the Jets end an 0-12 streak all-time against Philadelphia, they also handed the Eagles their first loss of the season and left no remaining unbeaten teams in the NFL. This also means the Jets let their buddies, the 1972 Miami Dolphins, pop the champagne again as they will remain the last team to ever run the entire table, from start to finish, including the Super Bowl.

So as should be expected, Jets players took to social media to express their vast amount of excitement over knocking off the defending NFC champions.

Instant analysis as Jets pull the upset, finally score a victory over Eagles

Game notes and three stars as the Jets get the upset, finally defeat the Philadelphia Eagles.

The donut is finally gone. The Jets are no longer 0-for-forever against the Philadelphia Eagles. A late touchdown off of a Tony Adams interception helped the Jets pull the upset of the previously undefeated Eagles by a score of 20-14 and record their first win ever in the regular season over the Eagles. The Jets had previously been 0-12 against Philadelphia.

Scoring a win over the Eagles and getting to 3-3 heading into their bye week, with all that happened with injuries and the schedule they faced, the Jets are on cloud nine right now. Here’s our game notes from New York’s major win.

Quinnen Williams nabs first career interception against Eagles

Quinnen Williams nabs first career interception against Eagles

There’s a first time for everything. That’s the old saying and it happened for the Jets on Sunday against the Eagles.

Defensive tackle Quinnen Williams has accomplished plenty already in his NFL career. But he never recorded an interception. Until Sunday.

In the second quarter, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts threw a pass intended for tight end Dallas Goedert. The pass was knocked away by Jets edge defender Jermaine Johnson and landed in the hands of Williams.

In a year that’s already been weird and crazy for the Jets, Williams has now recorded an interception this season before he recorded his first full sack of the season — he had a half-sack against the Chiefs.

The Jets have a tall task ahead of them. They get the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles and won’t have either starting cornerback and have other injuries they are dealing with as well. The roster is a little thin in some places. But they’ll roll with what they have. Here is a quick look at the Jets’ gameday roster, including practice-squad call-ups, for Week 6.

Jets Week 6 inactives: Micheal Clemons out, Carl Lawson and Mecole Hardman back

The Jets announced their inactives for Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles. In a bit of a surprise, the Jets are not dressing defensive lineman Micheal Clemons Sunday. In his place, Carl Lawson is back in the lineup as is wide receiver Mecole Hardman, who recently said he just wants to play whether that’s with the Jets or someone else. We’ll see if he plays today.

It was already known that the Jets would be without three of their top cornerbacks in Sauce Gardner, D.J. Reed and Brandin Echols. Bryce Hall and Craig James will start for the Jets.

The other three inactives have been inactive all season and will continue to do so Sunday: WR Jason Brownlee, LB Zaire Barnes and RB Israel Abanikanda.

Aaron Rodgers arrives at MetLife Stadium…without crutches

Aaron Rodgers arrives at MetLife Stadium…without crutches

Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is at MetLife Stadium for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. And there is something noticeably missing from Rodgers…his crutches.

Just five weeks since his Achilles injury in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills, Rodgers was seen being driven on the cart and then walking into the facility. Walking on his own without crutches, that is.

Rodgers is obviously still a ways away from playing again, but being able to walk as he is this quickly after an Achilles year is certainly a great sign. He keeps believing there is a chance he can return if the Jets make the playoffs. Of course, the Jets have to get there first.

He was also seen throwing for about five minutes and planting off of his front foot.

Regardless, Rodgers looks like he is making incredible progress. His presence and lack of crutches will give the Jets, they hope, a jolt of confidence against the Eagles.

3 causes for concern as the Jets face the Eagles in Week 6

3 causes for concern as the Jets face the Eagles in Week 6

The Jets face a tall order in Week 6, hosting the 5-0 Philadelphia Eagles and dealing with a plethora of injuries, including both of their starting cornerbacks. Certainly, there is a little bit of concern heading into this game, but definitely not impossible.

That said, here are three reasons to be concerned about the Jets this week against the Eagles.
