The New York Jets (2-4) and Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) meet Sunday. Kickoff from Acrisure Stadium is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NFL odds around the Jets vs. Steelers odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Jets lost 23-20 as 1-point underdogs vs. the visiting Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football in Week 6 as the Over (42) hit. New York acquired WR Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders Tuesday, and the 3-time All-Pro is expected to make his debut Sunday.

The Steelers routed the Raiders 32-13 as 3.5-point road favorites Oct. 13 as the Over (36.5) cashed. After going 4-2 to start the season, QB Justin Fields will reportedly be replaced by QB Russell Wilson as the starter for Sunday.

Jets at Steelers picks and predictions

Prediction

Jets 18, Steelers 17

Moneyline

Everybody is cutting in line to bet the Jets (-130), who have lost 3 straight games. The Jets would’ve won vs. Buffalo in Week 6 if K Greg Zuerlein didn’t miss 2 field goals. The Jets would’ve won vs. Denver in Week 4 if Zuerlein didn’t miss a 50-yarder with 47 seconds remaining.

What will be New York’s excuse this week? I don’t want to lay -130 to find out.

PASS. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is 19-6-3 ATS as a home underdog. While I’m not a huge fan of coach-specific trends, I do believe Tomlin is being undervalued by the market when facing more talented teams.

In his latest move that is drawing criticism from talking heads, he’s reportedly going to start Wilson instead of Fields Sunday. While I would prefer to back Fields with my hard-earned cash, Tomlin has clearly shown — by his ATS record as a home ‘dog — that his decision-making when outmatched is better than the market gives him credit for.

If it weren’t for a 52-yard Hail Mary at the end of the 1st half in Week 6, the Jets would’ve scored 17 or fewer points for a 3rd straight week. Does Adams reuniting with Rodgers magically fix this offense? It will likely improve with time, but I doubt it will have any meaningful impact Sunday vs. a top-2 defense in the NFL this season (14.3 opponent PPG).

BET STEELERS +1.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Under is 3-1 in the Jets’ last 4 games and 4-2 for the Steelers on the season. Directionally, I like both defenses and am bearish on both QBs, but this number is just a bit too low for me to pull the trigger.

LEAN UNDER 38.5 (-110).

New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The New York Jets (1-2) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (1-2) meet Sunday at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Jets vs. Steelers odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Jets play a 4th straight game against an AFC North foe. New York lost to the Baltimore Ravens 24-9 at home in Week 1. It then stunned the Cleveland Browns on the road with a 4th-quarter comeback to win 31-30 in Week 2. Last week, the Jets lost 27-12 at home to the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Steelers last played Thursday in Week 3, a 29-17 setback on the road against the Browns as the Over hit for the 1st time in 3 games. Pittsburgh hasn’t won since a 23-20 overtime win in Cincinnati in Week 1.

Jets at Steelers picks and predictions

Prediction

Steelers 26, Jets 17

Moneyline

The STEELERS (-190) are a little on the pricey side, but if you don’t want to fool around with laying the points, Pittsburgh won’t cost you more than 2 times your potential return. Pittsburgh is a particularly attractive play for those playing in survivor pools.

Against the spread

STEELERS -3.5 (-108) is a little more risky, especially because of that hook. With QB Zach Wilson back after preseason knee surgery, things could go 1 of 2 ways. He could be very effective for the Jets +3.5 (-112), helping them hang around, or he could be very rusty and this could be tremendous news for the Steelers.

I expect some rust from Wilson before he gets his sea legs in the 2nd half. Pittsburgh should have this covered, however.

Over/Under

OVER 41.5 (-110) is worth playing ever so slightly. This is a super low total for this day and age, although it makes sense since both of these teams have cashed the Under in 2 of their 3 games to date. The Over is 5-2 in the past 7 games on the road for the Jets, however.
