Aaron Rodgers says he’s going to guest-host an upcoming episode of ‘Jeopardy!’ and we can’t wait

What is “This is awesome”?

Apparently, Ken Jennings isn’t the only former Jeopardy! champion who will be guest-hosting the show in (temporary) replacement of the late Alex Trebek.

On Tuesday, Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers — who won on Celebrity Jeopardy! back in 2015 — told Pat McAfee he would be a guest-host on an upcoming episode.

He joked about what he was wearing at the time, but he went on to say, “It’s going to be released here pretty soon, but I have the opportunity to do one of those.”

YES. He’s going to be so good. CAN’T. WAIT. Here’s the segment from McAfee’s show in which he broke the news:

And here are some highlights from his win about six years ago:

Ken Jennings revealed an Alex Trebek good-luck charm he had while hosting ‘Jeopardy!’

Jennings had his first episode as guest host air.

Ken Jennings stepped in as the first guest host of Jeopardy! since the death of the legendary Alex Trebek, and by many accounts, the GOAT champion did a solid job.

The guest host also came out and started the show with a heartfelt tribute to Trebek in which Jennings got choked up: “Not many things in life are perfet, but Alex did this job pretty much perfectly for more than 36 years, and it was even better up close,” he said, going on to say no one can replace Trebek, “but we can honor him by playing the game he loved.”

Jennings also revealed he carried a good-luck charm in his pocket while taping his guest-host stint that had a connection to Trebek: an audience ticket from Trebek’s first time hosting the show in 1983:

‘Jeopardy!’ fans get one final Alex Trebek episode to celebrate the beloved, iconic host

Friday is his final episode.

Friday marks the end of an era on Jeopardy! — the final episode hosted by the legendary, iconic Alex Trebek.

All week, we’ve seen four of the final five episodes he taped before dying just 10 days later after a long battle with cancer. Friday’s episode won’t just be a regular one — it’ll also have (per the Jeopardy! Twitter account), “a very special look back at your favorite Alex moments and memories.”

As you may know, Jeopardy! airs at different times all over the United States, so make sure you check to see when it’s on Friday in your area. Here’s the tweet from Jeopardy!

And some tributes that have started coming in, including from champion James Holzhauer and a great video of questions he asked contestants:

‘Jeopardy!’ contestant nearly aces an entire ‘Jocks’ category

Everyone missed a Bryson DeChambeau clue.

We have seen Jeopardy! contestants get completely flummoxed by sports categories.

Most recently, they missed out on a Cris Collinsworth clue. There was that Yankee Stadium category, the tough college football category from Jeopardy: Greatest of All Time, and more.

On Thursday, the penultimate Alex Trebek-hosted show, a “Jocks” category was on the board in the first round, and contestant Natalie nailed all but one of the answers to the five clues. It’s my opinion a casual sports fan would end up getting most of these, but we’ll see! Here’s a list of the clues below with their answers further down:

$200

Captain of the U.S. team in the last 2 Olympics, Aly Raisman has won 3 gold medals in this sport.

$400

Nothing fishy about Mike Trout, a standout slugger & outfielder for this California MLB team.

$600

This first woman to win an Indy Car Series race wrote a book called “Pretty Intense” (NOTE: There was a photo to accompany this clue.)

$800

This Milwaukee Bucks star was born in Greece to Nigerian parents (don’t worry, we’ll take just his first name).

$1,000

The unconventional methods of this long-hitting 2020 U.S. Open champ include using a protractor on the putting green.

Answers:

What is gymnastics?

What are the Angels?

Who is Danica Patrick?

Who is Giannis (Antetokounmpo)?

Who is Bryson DeChambeau? (This is the one everyone missed!)

Cris Collinsworth was sad that he was an answer on Jeopardy and nobody got it right

This seemed like a pretty easy one.

Cris Collinsworth has been sliding into our living rooms every Sunday night during the NFL season for years now and all that time in the booth with Al Michaels led to a big moment for the former wide receiver as he was the answer to a clue on Jeopardy on Thursday night’s show.

But then things got a little awkward when none of the contestants knew the answer to what would be an easy question for just about all football fans.

Collinsworth tweeted about the moment, saying it was “humbling” that nobody knew his name.

I mean, check out this question:

NFL fans had jokes:

Alex Trebek delivered an incredible speech before one of his final ‘Jeopardy!’ episodes

This is so inspiring.

Monday marked the first of Alex Trebek’s final five episodes as host of Jeopardy! before he died in November after a long battle with cancer.

As the game show’s executive producer Mike Richards told Entertainment Weekly recently, Trebek walked out and delivered an incredible speech about the holiday season and the COVID-19 pandemic. We got to see it on Monday’s episode before the game started.

“I’d like you to open up your hands and open up your heart to those who are still suffering because of COVID-19,” he said at the opening of the episode. “People who are suffering through no fault of their own.”

“We’re trying to build a gentler, kinder society,” he continued, “and if we all pitch in just a little bit, we’re going to get there.”

It was a beautiful message and one we should all take to heart.

Alex Trebek’s final episodes of ‘Jeopardy!’ air this week

The last time we will see Trebek behind the podium.

It’s going to be an emotional week of Jeopardy! episodes.

The quiz show hasn’t aired its final set of eps hosted by the legendary and incomparable Alex Trebek who died in November after a long battle with cancer.

But starting on Monday and running through Friday, the world will get to see the final Trebek-hosted Jeopardy! episodes. As the show’s Twitter account noted, he was behind the host’s podium for 36 years and for over 8,200 episodes.

And according to Jeopardy! executive producer Mike Richards told Entertainment Weekly, viewers are going to see once last incredible moment from Trebek: a speech about the holidays. From the interview:

On that first episode, he walked out, and you’ll see it when it airs, he gives this amazing speech about the holidays and coming together and being strong and taking care of each other. And we didn’t know he was gonna do that; he just walked out and did it. And you’ll see in the episode, we all started to clap, and there’s points in Jeopardy! where you clap and there’s points in Jeopardy! where you don’t; that’s not a normal spot. You can see [Trebek] kind of look over at us as he was crossing to reveal the categories: “What are you guys clapping about?”

Upcoming episodes after these will have Jeopardy! champion (many, many times) Ken Jennings as a guest host.

Google honors the late Alex Trebek with this touching ‘Jeopardy!’ Easter egg

The legendary Jeopardy! host died in November at the age of 80.

Alex Trebek was an icon and legend who impacted countless people, whether they appeared on TV with the late Jeopardy! host or watched from afar. Sadly, Trebek died last month at the age of 80 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Since then, fans everywhere — including Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen — have found different ways to honor and celebrate Trebek. And Google is paying tribute to Trebek in its own way with another excellent Easter egg.

If you Google “Alex Trebek,” the top search results pop up, of course. But the search engine also provides a touching did-you-mean suggestion, and it’s one that Jeopardy! fans will surely love and appreciate.

“Did you mean: Who is Alex Trebek” — a reference to Jeopardy! contestants buzzing in and responding to clues in the form of a question.

Following Trebek’s passing, Jeopardy! announced it resumed production on the show last week, and it will feature a variety of guests hosts, including Jeopardy! GOAT Ken Jennings.

A: Adam Thielen.

Q: Who wore the best cleats in Week 11 of the NFL season?

No contest as the Vikings’ wide receiver wore the perfect footwear for Monday night’s game against the Chicago Bears.

Check out Thielin’s cleats that pay tribute to the memory of “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek, who passed away last week.

Jean Trebek shared a heartwarming message to fans on Instagram after Alex Trebek’s passing

This is incredibly thoughtful.

The news of losing Alex Trebek to stage 4 pancreatic cancer hit a lot of people hard. He’s been a staple in homes across the country for decades now.

Fans of Jeopardy from all over took to the internet to mourn the loss and remember his best moments as the host of Jeopardy. And none of that was lost on his family.

His wife, Jean Trebek, posted a heartwarming thank you message to fans on Instagram along with a picture of the two on their wedding day. The couple  had been married for 30 years and had two children together.

Jean Trebek said the messages from fans “truly touched our hearts.”
