7 coaches Shane Steichen could hire as Colts OC

Here are seven candidates Colts HC Shane Steichen could hire as offensive coordinator.

Indianapolis Colts fans can breathe. The is finally wait is over, and Shane Steichen is the new head coach for the franchise.

Now the question is, who will be his offensive coordinator? The 37-year-old coach will have to make the decision if he will want to call plays on gamedays or hand those duties off to whoever his offensive coordinator will be.

That decision could potentially impact the desire of a coach to take that job if they wish to be calling plays in that role. We should get that answer in Steichen’s opening press conference Tuesday, which could give better insight into who he may target.

But for now, let’s take a look at some potential names for the new offensive coordinator for Indianapolis:

Eagles nominate assistant head coach Jemal Singleton for USAA Salute To Service Award

Philadelphia Eagles nominate assistant head coach Jemal Singleton for USAA Salute To Service Award.

The Philadelphia Eagles named assistant head coach and running backs coach Jemal Singleton as the organization’s nominee for the “Salute to Service Award presented by USAA.”

The award, presented annually by USAA and the NFL, honors a league member who demonstrates an exemplary commitment to honoring and supporting the military community. USAA holds the designation of Official NFL Salute to Service Partner.

Singleton, the son of an Air Force Sergeant, followed in his father’s footsteps when he began his military career at the Air Force Academy. A three-year starter at running back for the Falcons, Singleton’s leadership led him to become one of only six players in program history to be named a team captain twice.

For the first time ever, fans can now vote for their favorite nominee, which will help determine the award’s three finalists.

To vote, fans can visit NFL.com/SaluteFanVote from now until November 30. One vote per day per fan is permitted.

Past recipients of the award include Andrew Beck (2022), Steve Cannon (2021), Dan Quinn (2020), Donnie Edwards (2019), Ben Garland (2018), Andre Roberts (2017), Dan Quinn (2016), Vincent Jackson (2015), Jared Allen (2014), John Harbaugh (2013), Charles Tillman (2012), and the late Tennessee Titans owner, K.S. “Bud” Adams, a WWII veteran (2011).

Finalists for the award are scheduled to be announced in January. The recipient will be recognized at the NFL Honors awards show, which will air during the Super Bowl festivities.

NFL Draft: Eagles sent RB’s coach to UNC pro day for Javonte Williams and Michael Carter

Eagles sent RB coach to UNC pro day to scout Javonte Williams and Michael Carter

The Eagles have 11 picks in the 2021 NFL Draft and could have another 11 more when the 2022 selections process rolls around.

The Eagles have needs on their roster and young explosive players from the ACC could help the rebuild move quicker.

Miles Sanders needs a running mate and the Eagles like to run the ball with a committee approach to the position.

So it shouldn’t be surprising that Philadelphia was amongst the team in Chapel Hill for North Carolina’s pro day.

There, running backs coach, Jemal Singleton had a first-hand look at the duo of Javonte Williams and Michael Carter.

Williams gets most of the attention, but he and Carter both helped solidify UNC’s vaunted one-two punch in the backfield.

The Tarheels averaged 236 rushing yards (11th-highest average in FBS) and 2.9 rushing touchdowns per game (fifth-highest).

Carter finished the season with 1,5112 total scrimmage yards to Williams’s 1,445.

Williams led all Tarheels in scoring, logging 22 touchdowns from scrimmage — the fourth-most in the FBS for the 2020 season.

Williams ranks as the No. 32 ranked prospect on Daniel Jeremiah’s latest top-50 rankings, while Carter failed to crack the top-50.

Carter could be an option for the Eagles, who’ll eventually have to address Mile Sanders’ looming contract situation.

Sanders needs some help in the backfield and the former second-round pick only has two-years left on his deal and the Eagles will need to address his future at some point.
