Browns elevate RB Jordan Wilkins and OT Ty Nsekhe from practice squad vs. Seahawks

The Cleveland Browns brought up running back Jordan Wilkins and offensive tackle Ty Nsekhe for some much-needed depth in Week 8.

The Cleveland Browns elevated two practice squad players to the active roster ahead of their Week 8 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks. Cleveland elevated running back Jordan Wilkins and offensive tackle Ty Nsekhe, the team announced Saturday, to provide some much-needed depth in the face of a few injuries on offense.

Wilkins spent time with the Browns during the preseason and was officially signed to the practice squad on Oct. 24. He previously played four games for the Indianapolis Colts in 2022 and from 2018-2020. Wilkins played one season with the Tennessee Titans in 2021. For his career, Wilkins has rushed 208 times for 1,009 yards and four touchdowns. He could see action if Jerome Ford, who’s questionable with an ankle injury, cannot suit up on Sunday. Kareem Hunt and Pierre Strong Jr. would be the other two running backs.

Similarly, Nsekhe could see action if fellow offensive tackle Jedrick Wills (ankle, foot) cannot play. Nsekhe had been activated once this season already after the Browns brought him up from the practice squad for Week 3 against the Titans. He played five special team snaps in the 27-3 win for Cleveland. The 38-year-old Nsekhe previously played for Washington Commanders, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles/St. Louis Rams with 25 career starts.

Browns Injury Report: Jerome Ford, Jedrick Wills questionable vs. Seahawks

The Browns enter their matchup against the Seahawks healthier than the week started!

The Cleveland Browns are looking to advance to 5-2 on the season as they take on the Seattle Seahawks in the Pacific Northwest on Sunday afternoon. However, two key players– running back Jerome Ford and left tackle Jedrick Wills– will enter the matchup as questionable to play.

Ford, of course, has surprised the Browns by how quickly he has returned to the practice field after suffering an ankle sprain in the team’s Week 7 win. This led to the team signing three different running backs to the practice squad this week.

Notable players who are not on the injury report for this game, however, are defensive ends Ogbo Okoronkwo and Alex Wright. Okoronkwo was dealing with a rib injury this week while Wright left the win against the Indianapolis Colts with concussion symptoms. Linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. also practiced in full on Friday and was not given a gameday designation.

Here is the full list of players who were limited in practice, were not able to practice, and were given a gameday designation.

Browns Injury Report: A flurry of injuries overwhelm Wednesday’s practice with Seahawks next

The Browns enter Week 8 quite banged up…

Sitting at 4-2, the Cleveland Browns are once again looking to shock the world as they will start P.J. Walker at quarterback against the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle, also sitting at 4-2, enters this matchup as banged up as the Browns, who were without tight end David Njoku, running back Kareem Hunt, and a laundry list of other players on Wednesday.

Dealing with injuries for the past four weeks, however, the Browns have managed to squeak out wins against the San Francisco 49ers and the Indianapolis Colts in back-to-back weeks. They will be looking for similar luck this week as they travel out west for a two-game road trip against the Seahawks this week, then the Arizona Cardinals the week after that.

Here is the full list of players that were either limited in practice or missed practice for the Browns as they prepare for their Week 8 showdown in the Pacific Northwest. With two days of practice left, let’s hope this trends in the right direction.

5 veteran offensive tackles the Browns could pursue on the trade market

It is slim pickings, but there are some potential offensive tackle upgrades out there.

The season is not lost for the Cleveland Browns. While the past two weeks have been a rough roller coaster ride to sit through with the looming injury to the shoulder of quarterback Deshaun Watson, they still have eight of their last 12 games against AFC opponents, including three against their division rivals. If they want to shove another chip into the middle of the table to make a run, however, the Browns need to take a deep look at upgrading their left tackle situation as Jedrick Wills has failed to take a step in year four.

According to The OBR’s Brad Stainbrook, this is a move the Browns are already expected to look into as well. The problem? There are not a plethora of good offensive tackles just hanging out on the market. The Browns will likely have to pursue a current starting veteran on another team, and that will cost them valuable assets to do.

Sifting through who could be on their shortlist was a task as well, as the list is already short. Regardless, here are five names pulled that fit the bill from a financial and logical perspective if the Browns are looking to go out and find an upgrade to their current left tackle in Wills.

4 takeaways from Kevin Stefanski’s Week 5 presser as Browns prepare for 49ers

Stefanski spoke to the media out of the bye week. Here are 4 big takeaways about what he had to say…

The bye week is over and done with, and the rest of the AFC did the Cleveland Browns a favor as they sat idly by. Loads of upsets helped the playoff picture for the Browns, including an upset by the Pittsburgh Steelers over the Baltimore Ravens to prevent them from pulling away in the AFC North. But now head coach Kevin Stefanski and quarterback Deshaun Watson have to get the offense figured out as the undefeated San Francisco 49ers come to town.

Coming out of the bye, Stefanski spoke to the media today, giving his updates on Watson, discussing the run game woes, and more. That is where we focus our attention here. He is usually pretty tight-lipped during press conferences, and this one is not much different.

As the Browns look to advance to 3-2 on the season coming off of their bye week, what stood out from Stefanski’s media availability?

Browns replace Jedrick Wills in latest 2024 NFL Mock Draft with Arizona’s Jordan Morgan

The Browns land a new offensive tackle in a new mock draft.

The Cleveland Browns have an offensive tackle issue as former first round pick Jedrick Wills has failed to develop after what was a promising start to his career. And because of that Draft Wire’s Jeff Risdon has mocked Arizona offensive tackle Jordan Morgan to the Browns in the second round of his latest 2024 NFL Mock Draft.

Morgan, a fifth-year senior, has been a standout for the Wildcats over the past two seasons as he has seen his draft stock rise.

For a second round pick, however, Morgan does not check the typical boxes the Browns look for. For starters, they have never drafted a player who was going to be 23 before taking an NFL snap earlier than the third round under general manager Andrew Berry.

However, seven offensive tackles went before Morgan in this mock draft, so the options were wearing thin. While Wills is guaranteed in 2024, it feels unlikely the Browns will run it back with him at left tackle at this current trajectory.

Offensive tackle remains a high priority.

Do the Browns have any other realistic options at left tackle?

The Browns have a problem at left tackle. But are there any realistic upgrades out there?

The Cleveland Browns have a problem at left tackle and a big one. Former tenth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft Jedrick Wills started his career out as a promising rookie on a playoff team. However, since then his play has not only plateaued but fallen off of a cliff this season. This comes on the heels of giving up another three pressures in a loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Through just four games, Wills has already surrendered 11 total pressures, one sack, and two hits on the quarterback. For reference, Wills gave up just 15 total pressures in his rookie season and 19 in his second season in the NFL.

The Browns picked up his fifth-year option this offseason, guaranteeing him about $15 million in 2024. However, as it currently sits, this is not a viable option for a team with Super Bowl aspirations.

The tough reality, however, is that there are not 30 good left tackles in the NFL, let alone enough for every team to have two. And this is what the Browns have to come to terms with. There are no tackles on the open market to come in and plug-and-play.

The options are limited, and the bounds of reality have to be stretched to get here. However, here are a few options, including a couple that may not be all that realistic.

Browns Injury Report: Two get gameday designations while Za’Darius Smith practices in full

The Browns have released their last injury report of the week, including two gameday designations.

The Cleveland Browns will be looking to bounce back in their Week 3 matchup against the Tennessee Titans in a big way. Coming off of a devastating loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2, including the loss of running back Nick Chubb for the season, the Browns have the opportunity to prove they are all but out of it this season with a big win. And while cornerback Greg Newsome II will be out against the Titans, they did have a handful of key contributors return to practice in full. This includes defensive end Za’Darius Smith.

All in all, only Newsome II and offensive tackle James Hudson III were given gameday designations, as the reserve offensive lineman is listed as questionable. This is good news for a team that has gotten enough injury news through the first two weeks of the season.

Here is the full injury list released by the Browns after Friday’s practice as they prepare to that on the AFC South opponent at home this Sunday.

Browns Injury Report: Greg Newsome II still out with Titans up next

And the Browns have released Thursday’s injury report.

We are nearing closer to a crucial Week 3 matchup for the Cleveland Browns. As they take on the Tennessee Titans on the heels of a rough loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football, they will have to do so without their best offensive player in running back Nick Chubb as Kareem Hunt has returned to replace him.

Chubb is not the only starter who might miss this game as well, as starting cornerback Greg Newsome II missed Thursday’s practice as they will have just one more before Sunday’s game at Cleveland Browns Stadium. There is still hope, however, that Newsome will practice on Friday and find himself on the field for the Browns on Sunday. If he cannot go, expect rookie Cameron Mitchell to fill in at the nickel cornerback post.

Overall, however, the Browns are relatively healthy heading into this Week 3 much-needed game. Here is the full list of Thursday’s injury report for the 1-1 Browns.

Browns Injury Report: DTs banged up as Shelby Harris, Maurice Hurst miss practice with Steelers close

The Browns have some injuries to sort out…

The Cleveland Browns are looking to move to 2-0 for the first time in 30 years as they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers this Monday night on primetime television. The Steelers will come in hungry as they are coming off the heels of a beatdown loss at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers. As Cleveland prepares for this matchup, however, numerous contributors like defensive tackles Shelby Harris and Maurice Hurst have some injuries to work through.

While there are a number of players who sat out on scheduled days of rest, there are another handful that warrant some concern. The Steelers had a pretty long list as well, so both teams will look to take advantage of the long week before they meet on Monday Night Football.

Here is the full list of Browns who appeared on Thursday’s injury list with four days to get right before they take on the Steelers.
