Celtics rule Jaylen Brown out vs. Chicago Bulls

Jaylen Brown is one of three players rule out of the Boston Celtics game against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday (March 23).

The Boston Celtics will face the Chicago Bulls on Saturday (March 23), the second night of a back-to-back. With the first seed in the Eastern Conference all but confirmed, head coach Joe Mazzulla has begun resting some of his starters by rotating them in and out of the lineup.

As such, Jaylen Brown, Kristaps Porzingis, and Jrue Holiday are all “out” against the Bulls. Jayson Tatum and Al Horford are listed as questionable and will likely be a game-time decision. Holiday and Brown’s absence will ensure that Payton Pritchard continues to get an increase in minutes, which has seen him thrive over the last four games.

The Celtics have won their last eight games in a row. A victory over the Bulls will put them on the precipice of another 10-game win streak. Mazzulla’s team has been charging toward the regular-season finish line and has built some genuine momentum.

The Bulls currently sit ninth in the Eastern Conference. As such, if things break right for them, they could be the Celtics’ opponent in the first round of the postseason. Perhaps we’re getting a preview of the first round.

Celtics upgrade three starters ahead of Detroit Pistons game

The Boston Celtics have upgraded Jaylen Brown, Sam Hauser and Al Horford ahead of their game against the Detroit Pistons.

The Boston Celtics have upgraded Jaylen Brown, Sam Hauser and Kristaps Porzingis to “available” for their game against the Detroit Pistons on Friday (March 22.) Jayson Tatum and Al Horford will miss the game due to injury, having been downgraded from “questionable.”

Horford’s absence is to be expected. He has sat out the one night of back-to-backs for the past two seasons. As the Celtics will face the Chicago Bulls on Saturday (March 23), it’s fair to assume Porzingis will resume his unofficial resting policy and miss that game.

Detroit will be without a significant portion of their rotation when they face the Celtics on Friday. Nevertheless, Boston must remain focused as they continue to surge toward cementing the top seed in the Eastern Conference. They need to win three more games to make it official.

Boston are coming into their game against Detroit on a seven-game win streak and will undoubtedly be looking to make it eight, with a view to securing their ninth on Saturday.

Celtics could be missing six players against Pistons

The Boston Celtics have a lengthy injury report ahead of their game against the Detroit Pistons on Friday, March 22.

The Boston Celtics will face the Detroit Pistons on Friday (March 22). It’s the second time these two teams will face off within a week. However, we’re unlikely to see the Celtics at full strength, as multiple players are listed on their injury report heading into game day.

Jaylen Brown, Al Horford, Kristaps Porzingis and Jayson Tatum are all listed as questionable. Jrue Holiday is out injured and will not participate. Sam Hauser is listed as probable and will likely suit up for the first time since his 30-point outing against the Washington Wizards on Sunday (March 17).

Boston is three games away from clinching the first seed in the Eastern Conference. A win over the Pistons could move them one step closer to cementing their spot. Fortunately for Joe Mazzulla’s team, Detroit will be missing multiple rotation members.

Quentin Grimes, Ausar Thompson, Isaiah Stewart, Simone Fontecchio, Stanley Umude and Taj Gibson are all listed as out for Monty Williams’ team. Still, the Celtics must remain focused if they want to avoid a potential trap game and continue building momentum heading into the postseason.

Jayson Tatum has high praise for Jaylen Brown’s recent defence for the Celtics

“It has an impact on the rest of the team and really gives everybody else no excuses,” he explained.

Star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown has been playing some of the best ball of his career since the 2024 NBA All-Star break, but much of the attention garnered by the Georgia native has been on the offensive end of the court. Brown has also been sneakily one of the Celtics’ best defenders on a team with one of the best defensive ratings in the league.

Speaking to CLNS Media after Boston’s 122-119 win over the Milwaukee Bucks at TD Garden on Wednesday, All-Star teammate Jayson Tatum had praise for the Cal alum’s defense. “It’s powerful to see Jaylen guard the best player on the other team,” said Tatum of Brown taking on the Damian Lillard assignment in the win.

“It has an impact on the rest of the team and really gives everybody else no excuses,” explained the St. Louis native.

“If he can do that all night while still trying to be effective on the offensive end … It’s nothing short of special,” added Tatum.

And so far, on the court for Boston, it has been.

Interviewing the fake Jaylen Brown at TD Garden

Have you noticed a version of star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown at TD Garden recently that just seemed…off?

Have you noticed a version of star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown at TD Garden recently that just seemed…off? You are not alone, or going mad — there is a fake Jaylen Brown out there impersonating the Celtics star at Boston’s home games.

That imposter, Josh Griffith, began dressing up as the Georgia native in a full Celtics uniform after a friend dared him to and many told him he looked like the Boston star. Griffith sat behind the Celtics bench on last Monday night as Boston won vs. the Detroit Pistons, and he thinks some Boston players noticed him, while many others took pictures.

CLNS Media reporter Bobby Manning took a moment to interview the fake JB to learn more about what sparked this uncanny impersonation.

Jaylen Brown has been on a heater since returning from the 2024 NBA All-Star break

Brown has been the stick that stirs Boston’s drink in more than a few high-leverage wins for Boston in the last month.

Star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown has been on an absolute heater since returning from the 2024 NBA All-Star break. The Georgia native has been playing as not only the best player on his team, but among the best in the NBA since late February.

Brown has been the stick that stirs Boston’s drink in more than a few high-leverage wins for Boston in the last month or so, and he is showing no signs of slowing down as the 2024 NBA Playoffs approach. To talk it over, the hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Beat” podcast linked up with The Ringer’s Brian Barrett, host of the “Off The Pike” podcast.

Revisit all of Jaylen Brown’s best college highlights with the Cal Golden Bears

Rewind and check out Jaylen Brown’s best college highlights.

Jaylen Brown played a single season of college basketball with the University of California, Berkley Golden Bears before joining the Boston Celtics as the No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft. He has since become one of professional basketball’s most intriguing players and ascendant stars.

Brown had great success as a high schooler in the Atlanta area, but took his talents to the West Coast for his college ball. During his time as a Golden Bear, Brown was named to All-Pac-12 First Team and was the 2016 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. Cal did not qualify for the NCAA Tournament that season, but Brown’s outstanding play was enough for him to earn the attention of his future NBA club, the Celtics.

You can check out the best highlights from Jaylen Brown’s lone season at Cal below. Big thanks to the NCAA Throwback YouTube channel for the assist.

Celtics release lengthy injury report ahead of Detroit Pistons game

The Boston Celtics will be missing multiple members of their starting lineup when they face the Detroit Pistons on Monday (March 18).

The Boston Celtics have released a lengthy injury report ahead of their game against the Detroit Pistons on Monday (March 18). JD Davison, Sam Hauser, Jrue Holiday and Al Horford are all out due to injury, while Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are listed as questionable. Kristaps Porzingis could make his return to the rotation after missing the Celtics last five games.

With so many players likely to be absent from the Celtics rotation, head coach Joe Mazzulla must get creative with his substitution patterns and the combinations he puts on the court. Fortunately for Boston, the Pistons have been struggling all season, winning just 12 of their 67 games this season.

Boston holds a 9.5-game lead at the top of the Eastern Conference. As such, they’re under no pressure to win their game against the Pistons.

Assuming Porzingis and one of Tatum or Brown are cleared to play, they should still have enough talent to grind out a victory to end their back-to-back on a strong note. The Celtics defeated the Washington Wizards on Sunday (March 17).

Can Jaylen Brown be the Boston Celtics’ No. 1 guy?

The Georgia native has been playing out of his mind since the NBA’s 2024 All-Star break.

Can Jaylen Brown be the Boston Celtics’ No. 1 guy? The Georgia native has been playing out of his mind since the NBA’s 2024 All-Star break, to the point where some are saying he has been Boston’s best player.

In the latest episode of “The Big 3 NBA Podcast”, cohost A. Sherrod Blakely welcomes CLNS Media reporter Bobby Manning to discuss the Celtics’ dominance in the Eastern Conference, the keys to their success, and the biggest challenges they face. The conversation then shifts to Brown and Jayson Tatum, exploring the possibility that Brown may be surpassing Tatum as the go-to player for the second half of the Celtics’ 2-23-24 campaign.

The two also cover the dilemma faced by Celtics’ coach Joe Mazzulla regarding rest versus rhythm as the playoffs approach. Check it out below!

Celtics’ Jaylen Brown ruled out vs Washington Wizards

Jaylen Brown has been ruled out against the Washington Wizards.

Jaylen Brown has been downgraded to “out” for Sunday’s (March 17) Boston Celtics game against the Washington Wizards. He joins Kristaps Porzingis and Derrick White on the injury report, leaving Joe Mazzulla short of three starters against one of the Eastern Conference’s biggest strugglers.

According to the Celtics, Brown is nursing a right ankle sprain. Without the Georgia native in the rotation, Jayson Tatum will likely step into a more prominent role on offense, especially in the opening quarter, where Brown’s absence will undoubtedly be felt. Boston has a total of just 16 games remaining in their regular season schedule.

Given their commanding lead at the top of the Eastern Conference standings, we’ll likely see multiple games where starting rotation members sit out to gain additional rest.

With three players missing, the Celtics will need to be locked in and at their best in order to avoid a potential trap game against a Wizards team that recently beat the Miami Heat.
