Tajikistan has another fighter on the UFC roster.

Tajikistan has another fighter on the UFC roster.

Shortly after the addition of Muin Gafurov, the UFC has signed Tajikistan-born [autotag]Muhammad Naimov[/autotag], who will replace [autotag]Guram Kutateladze[/autotag] to face [autotag]Jamie Mullarkey[/autotag] on Saturday at UFC on ESPN 45. Kutateladze was unable to obtain his U.S. visa in time, forcing him to withdraw from the bout.

A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie after an initial report by MMA Mania.

Naimov (8-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is 3-1 since he fell short on Dana White’s Contender Series in September 2020. The 28-year-old is on a three-fight winning streak and most recently scored a 34-second head kick knockout in March.

Since he dropped his first two octagon bouts, Mullarkey (16-5 MMA, 4-3 UFC) has won four of his past five. The Australian fighter is coming off back-to-back wins over Michael Johnson and, most recently, Francisco Prado at UFC 284 in February.

Jamie Mullarkey ready to test undefeated newcomer’s perfect finish rate at UFC 284

Jamie Mullarkey might be taking on an unbeaten international prospect who never has gone the distance, but he’s not being overlooked.

PERTH, Australia – [autotag]Jamie Mullarkey[/autotag] might be taking on an unbeaten international prospect who never has gone the distance, but he’s not being overlooked.

For Mullarkey, despite mixed results during his UFC tenure so far, it’s quite the opposite. Mullarkey (15-5 MMA, 3-3 UFC) is one of the biggest favorites at UFC 284 in his lightweight bout against Francisco Prado (11-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC).

Prado, from Argentina, has finished 100 percent of his fights since he turned pro in mid-2019. And making things more interesting, he’s got a near-equal amount of submissions and knockouts on his resume.

But it’s Mullarkey who nearly is a 3-1 favorite in front of his home fans in Australia. And he thinks he’s going to back it up against his unbeaten opponent.

Check out Mullarkey’s full media day interview in the video above.

UFC 284 takes place Saturday at RAC Arena in Perth, Australia. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and early prelims on ESPN+.
