Lions select Jackson State EDGE James Houston in 7th round

Houston had 16.5 sacks for the Tigers in 2021 after transferring from Florida

With the No. 217 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft, the Detroit Lions have selected Jackson State EDGE James Houston.

Houston was a standout for the Tigers at the FCS level after transferring from Florida. The 6-1, 225-pound Houston racked up 16.5 sacks and 70 total tackles for Jackson State. He earned an invite to the East-West Shrine Bowl as a result and catapulted himself into draftable status.

Chiefs 2022 7-round mock draft v2.0: Post-Tyreek Hill trade edition

Our @goldmctNFL reveals his 7-round 2022 mock draft 2.0 for the #Chiefs and the first since the Tyreek Hill trade:

There are less than 30 days to go until the first round of the 2022 NFL draft.

The Kansas City Chiefs have loaded up on draft picks due to the Tyreek Hill trade, but they’ve also created an even greater need at the wide receiver position. This mock draft looks quite a bit different from our 1.0, not just because of the new draft picks, but also given our recent look at the 90-man offseason roster. There are plenty of needs to consider, both for the upcoming season, but also for the future in Kansas City.

In order to gauge player availability for the mock draft, I ran multiple simulations using the various mock draft machines to create a composite. If players weren’t available with regularity, they were eliminated from contention at a specific pick. Typically, I’d have 8-10 players on my big board to choose from at a given pick, though in Round 7 the pool is significantly larger.

Without further delay, here’s a look at our mock draft version 2.0:

Deion Sanders calls out the Browns and other teams not attending Jackson State pro day

The Browns were one of 8 teams not in attendance and that made Sanders unhappy

Deion Sanders is never at a loss for words. The NFL legend and current head football coach at Jackson State had some choice words for the Cleveland Browns and seven other teams when they didn’t show up for the Tigers’ pro day this week.

After praising all the prospects who worked out for the teams in attendance, Sanders turned his attention–and his tone–to the eight teams that did not send any reps to the pro day.

“24 teams. 24 teams came to witness our kids yesterday in its entirety,” Sanders said. “And I appreciate you. But, there’s 32 teams in this Crayola box. Therefore, the Dolphins, the Broncos, the Texans, the Bills, the Buccaneers, the Ravens, the Panthers, the Browns, the Vikings, and the Eagles, where art thou? You could have sent somebody, man. You could have shown up just a little bit.”

The Tigers don’t have much in the way of potential NFL draftees in 2022, though EDGE James Houston IV should hear his name called on Day 3 after a great 2021 season and postseason all-star bowl circuit.
