Titans release Jamal Carter from injured reserve

The Titans have released DB Jamal Carter from injured reserve.

The Tennessee Titans made a roster move on Monday, releasing defensive back Jamal Carter from injured reserve, per the league’s transactions wire.

Carter appeared in one game for the Titans in 2021, playing 13 snaps on special teams. He was signed to a futures contract earlier this offseason before being placed on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury last month.

Originally an undrafted free agent out of Miami, Carter signed with the Denver Broncos in 2017 and played in all 16 games as a rookie, spending most of his time on special teams while also playing 77 defensive snaps.

After missing the 2018 season due to injury, Carter latched on with the Atlanta Falcons, where he spent the next two seasons. The 28-year-old appeared in 12 games (no starts) in that span, 11 of which came in 2019.

Carter once again played predominantly on special teams, but did see 136 defensive snaps in his time with Atlanta.

Titans make 2 signings official, place Jamal Carter on IR

The Titans made a trio of roster moves on Monday.

The Tennessee Titans announced a trio of roster moves on Monday, including the confirmation of two previously reported signings.

The Titans announced the signings of defensive back Kenneth George and defensive end DeMarcus Walker. Tennessee also placed safety Jamal Carter on injured reserve.

A former second-round pick of the Denver Broncos, Walker spent the 2021 season with the Houston Texans, appearing in 13 games (two starts) and totaling two sacks and 31 combined tackles (two for loss).

George played his college ball at Tennessee and was invited to the Titans’ rookie minicamp on a tryout basis after going undrafted. George joins his former college teammate Theo Jackson, who was selected by the Titans in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft.

Carter was one of many signed to a futures deal earlier this offseason. He saw the field for one game with the Titans in 2021, but only played on special teams.

George will be a longshot to make the roster, while Walker has a better chance thanks to his experience.

Titans place Taylor Lewan on COVID-19 list, activate 2 others off it

“This COVID deal is wild.. zero symptoms,” Lewan tweeted. “I’m just sitting on my couch feeling fine right now.”

The Tennessee Titans have added yet another player to the Reserve/COVID-19 list after announcing they have placed left tackle Taylor Lewan on it.

Lewan is the third Titans player to be added this week. He joins left guard Rodger Saffold (Wednesday) and cornerback Elijah Molden (Monday). All three players missed the Week 16 game against the San Francisco 49ers, but Lewan was initially ruled out with a back injury.

Tennessee also activated two players off the COVID-19 list in wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick and practice squad safety Jamal Carter, both of whom were added last week.

Shortly after the move to place Lewan was announced by the Titans, the left tackle took to Twitter to reveal he’s feeling fine and has zero symptoms.

“This Covid deal is wild.. zero symptoms,” Lewan tweeted. “I’m just sitting on my couch feeling fine right now. Appreciate everyone who reached out!”

The Titans will return to action on Jan. 2 when they host the Miami Dolphins at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. That should be enough time to get all three players back. In the meantime, we hope all of them are doing OK.

Titans agree to terms with safety Jamal Carter

The Titans have been plagued by injuries to their safeties in training camp.

The Tennessee Titans have been plagued by injuries at the safety position during training camp, so the team has added yet another to its roster.

The team announced the addition of safety Jamal Carter on Tuesday, which came hours after the Titans placed recently-signed safety Tedric Thompson on Injured Reserve following his sustaining an injury on Monday.

Tennessee is also dealing with injuries to safeties Matthias Farley, Dane Cruikshank, and 2021 sixth-round pick, Brady Breeze. On Monday, the Titans also added safeties Bradley McDougald and Clayton Geathers.

Originally an undrafted free agent signing of the Denver Broncos out of Miami (FL) in 2017, Carter spent the last two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons after spending his rookie campaign in Denver.

The 27-year-old has tallied 26 tackles and two passes defensed over 26 career contests (no starts). He appeared in just one game for the Falcons in 2020. Carter has played predominantly on special teams.

The Titans are set to hold a pair of joint practices with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday and Thursday before the two teams meet at Raymond James Stadium on Saturday in Preseason Week 2.

Cardinals add pair of linebackers to ‘futures’ deals

They add former safeties Jamal Carter and Donald Rutledge but designate them as linebackers.

The Arizona Cardinals announced a pair of offseason roster additions on Wednesday. They added a pair of linebackers, signing them to “futures” contracts — Jamal Carter and Donald Rutledge.

However, these players come with a twist. The Cardinals announced them both as linebackers but both have previously been defensive backs.

It would appear that perhaps they are bringing in players who could take over the role filled by Ezekiel Turner, a former safety who converted to linebacker for the Cardinals and has been a stud on special team and is scheduled to be a restricted free agent.

Read on for more about them.
