Alabama football countdown: 45 days until kickoff

We are only 45 days away from ALABAMA FOOTBALL!!

The return of college football is quickly approaching, folks. After yet another national championship winning season, Nick Saban and company will be looking for a repeat performance in 2021.

Despite key losses, the Crimson Tide is well positioned to do just that.

The opening week matchup is against the Miami Hurricanes in Atlanta, Ga. set for Sept. 4. And with it now being July 21, we are now only 45 days away from the start of the season!

True freshman tight end Robbie Ouzts, a three-star prospect out of Rock Hill, S.C., is now wearing the No. 45 for Alabama.

With Jahleel Billingsley and Cameron Latu topping the depth chart, it’s unlikely that we see significant contributions from Ouzts in Year 1, but he’s an excellent development prospect at the tight end position.

The most notable player to ever wear the No. 45 during the Saban era is none other than former offensive Swiss Army knife Jalston Fowler. After coming to Tuscaloosa as a running back out of Vigor down in Mobile, Fowler played mostly fullback. But he also had the ability to take carries and even play some move tight end.

Fowler was at Alabama from 2010 to 2014.

Alabama football countdown: 45 days until kickoff

We are back to 45 days away from Alabama’s opening kickoff on Sept. 26. The opponent hasn’t yet been determined.

There has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding college football over the last couple of weeks, but as of right now, the season still looks like it’s a go for the SEC, ACC and Big 12.

So, what does that mean? It means that we can continue to Countdown to Kickoff en route to the Crimson Tide — and the rest of the SEC — getting things underway on Sept. 26.

With it now being Aug. 12, we are officially 45 days away from the start!

Senior starting long snapper Thomas Fletcher out of Georgetown (Tex.) currently wears the No. 45 for Alabama. Prior to Fletcher, the number was worn by former Tide fullback Jalston Fowler, who ended up being a fourth-round pick by the Tennessee Titans in 2015.

We are only 45 days from Alabama football kicking off its season. With the cancelled USC game, we’re just not sure who the opponent with be.

Alabama’s opening week game against the USC Trojans at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, has been cancelled after the Pac-12 announced its teams would play a conference-only schedule in 2020.

Yes, that was unfortunate news, and, yes, that means the Crimson Tide is looking for a new opponent to open its season on Sept. 5, but, as of right now, that is still the target date to open the season. Until that changes, we’ll continue the countdown to kickoff.
