Chargers make roster moves ahead of Week 15 game vs. Buccaneers

The Chargers placed a wide receiver on injured reserve.

The Chargers made a few roster moves ahead of Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers.

Los Angeles placed wide receiver Jalen Reagor on injured reserve. Reagor sustained a hand injury in Week 14 against the Chiefs.

In correspondence, the team elevated wide receiver Laviska Shenault and tight end Eric Tomlinson from the practice squad.

Shenault recently played for the Seahawks. During his time with Seattle, he returned 16 passes for 459 yards, including a 97-yard touchdown, and caught five passes for 36 yards.

Tomlinson’s promotion from the practice squad comes in wake of Will Dissly being ruled out for Sunday with a shoulder injury. Tomlinson has appeared in eight games this season, with two catches for nine yards.

Chargers Week 15 injury report: Justin Herbert back at practice on Thursday

Two players were out, and six were limited.

The Chargers had their second practice on Thursday in preparation for this Sunday’s contest against the Buccaneers.

Back on the practice field was quarterback Justin Herbert, who was listed as a limited participant on the injury report. Herbert missed Wednesday’s practice with a left ankle injury and a thigh contusion.

Herbert said his left ankle sprain is “not as severe” as the right high ankle sprain he had earlier this season.

Herbert is expected to play against Tampa Bay this weekend.

Edge defender Joey Bosa (hip) upgraded to limited after sitting out Wednesday.

Tight end Will Dissly (shoulder) and wide receiver Jalen Reagor (finger) did not practice for the second consecutive day.

Wide receiver Derius Davis (hamstring), safety Tony Jefferson (hamstring), wide receiver Ladd McConkey (knee/shoulder) and linebacker Deznel Perryman (groin) were limited.

Justin Herbert did not practice Wednesday, dealing with lower body injuries

Justin Herbert is dealing with thigh and ankle injuries.

Quarterback Justin Herbert did not practice on Wednesday as the Chargers began preparing for this weekend’s game against the Buccaneers.

At his media availability, Herbert the injury keeping him out of practice is a left ankle sprain. He also has a left leg contusion and said he’s also been dealing with swelling in his left knee.

Herbert said he suffered the ankle sprain on a scramble in the first half and played through it.

Herbert already sustained a right high ankle sprain. He said this sprain is not as bad as the sprain he was dealing with earlier this season.

When asked about practicing Thursday, Herbert said, “It really is day by day.”

In other injury-related news, wide receiver Jalen Reagor could miss some time due to a finger injury. Edge defenders Khalil Mack (non-injury related) and Joey Bosa (hip), and tight end Will Dissly (shoulder) did not practice.

Chargers place two on injured reserve

The Chargers made a few roster moves on Wednesday.

The Chargers announced on Wednesday that linebacker Junior Colson and wide receiver Simi Fehoko were placed on injured reserve.

In correspondence, WR Jalen Reagor was signed to the active roster. Reagor takes the spot of tight end Eric Tomlinson, who was released on Tuesday and signed to the practice squad today.

Additionally, LB Shaquille Quarterman was signed to the practice squad and TE McCallan Castles was released from the practice squad.

Reagor, who was signed by Los Angeles earlier this season, has appeared in three games and has caught four passes on five targets for 76 yards.

The Chargers have two open spots on the 53-man roster.

Jalen Reagor’s lax ball security turned a would-be Chargers TD into a fumble disaster

Oh no.

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Jalen Reagor didn’t acclimate himself well to his new team on Monday night.

After signing with the Los Angeles practice squad in September, the team got Reagor involved in the passing game on Monday night against the Arizona Cardinals.

Well, Reagor almost made a huge play for Los Angeles early in the game by hauling in a deep bomb from quarterback Justin Herbert.

Rather than getting in the end zone for the touchdown, however, Reagor left the ball exposed just enough for Cardinals cornerback Starling Thomas V to knock the ball out of his hands and send it flying into the end zone.

Reagor and the Chargers fell victim to the rule that any football that fumbles out of the end zone is a turnover for the other team.

Ooof.

While Thomas gets credit for making an excellent play on the ball, Reagor, a 2020 first-round pick, will have to own this really rough flub.

Former Eagles first round pick signs to Chargers practice squad

Los Angeles Chargers sign Jalen Reagor to the practice squad

It didn’t take Jalen Reagor very long to find a new home in the NFL after the Patriots released him following a social media fiasco. On Monday night, the Athletic’s Daniel Popper reported the Los Angeles Chargers plan to sign Reagor to their practice squad pending a physical.

New England head coach Jerod Mayo cut ties with Reagor after he used social media to troll the Patriots roster decisions.

After being waived by the Vikings last summer, Reagor signed to the New England Patriots practice squad ahead of the Week 1 matchup against Philadelphia.

Reagor appeared in 11 games for New England last season and caught seven passes for 138 yards with no touchdowns.

Reagor was drafted with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft, ahead of Minnesota Vikings All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson.

Roseman’s penchant for drafting Georgia players and selecting guys with pedigree started after this blown opportunity he’s admitted to on multiple occasions.

Reagor had eight catches for 104 yards and one touchdown last season and has played three NFL seasons for the Eagles and Vikings. Overall, Reagor has logged 72 catches for 799 yards, five touchdowns, and 61 punt returns for 488 yards.

Chargers signing WR Jalen Reagor to practice squad

The Chargers are adding a former first-round pick.

According to multiple reports, the Chargers are signing wide receiver Jalen Reagor.

NFL Insider Jordan Schultz said that Reagor will start on the practice squad with the likelihood that he will eventually get elevated to the active roster.

Reagor’s professional career started with the Eagles, who selected him in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft.

In his rookie season, Reagor recorded 31 catches for 396 yards and a touchdown. He tallied 57 catches for 299 yards and two scores in Year 2.

Reagor was traded to the Vikings in 2022. Despite the fresh start, he still failed to live up to his first-round billing, amassing just eight catches for 107 yards.

Minnesota released Reagor last year, and the Patriots eventually signed him. He posted seven catches for 138 yards. After signing a one-year, $1.3 million extension with New England in March, Reagor was released on Sept. 18.

Patriots veteran WR posts cryptic message, then gets cut by team

The Patriots release veteran receiver on Tuesday

The New England Patriots announced they have released speedy wideout/return specialist Jalen Reagor from the practice squad on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, Reagor posted a now-deleted cryptic picture on Instagram of a Bugatti parked in a trailer park. There was no explanation for the post on Reagor’s end.

One has to wonder if he was referring to his situation on the Patriots’ practice squad. He started in one game for the team last season, and he even scored a 98-yard touchdown on a kick-off return against the Buffalo Bills.

Not long after the post, the Patriots announced they had released Reagor from the practice squad.

Reagor was never consistently involved on offense with the Patriots. The former first-round draft pick was used sporadically as a gadget option at receiver. But he never stood out in a receiving room desperate for a burner on the outside.

There’s no question that he brings an explosive element to his game that would benefit any offense and special teams unit in the NFL. Now, he’ll have a chance to seek out a new opportunity elsewhere.

Two surprise cuts return to Patriots in 13 practice squad signings

Patriots have confirmed 13 practice squad signings

Two surprise names were on the list of 13 players signed to the New England Patriots practice squad.

On Wednesday, the Patriots revealed they had signed tackle Liam Fornadel, running back Kevin Harris, running back Terrell Jennings, wide receiver Matt Landers, defensive end Jotham Russell, safety A.J. Thomas and tight end Mitchell Wilcox.

There were six more additions on Thursday with the signings of wide receiver Jalen Reagor, defensive end Brevin Allen, guard Jerome Carvin, defensive tackle Trysten Hill, offensive lineman Bryan Hudson and Guard Michael Jordan.

The return of Reagor and Harris is good news considering they were initially viewed as surprise cuts for the Patriots. Reagor worked in the offense as a gadget receiver with special teams usage as a returner.

Meanwhile, Harris was believed to be the No. 3 option at running back before he was edged out in the competition by veteran JaMycal Hasty.

Along with Jennings, his presence on the practice squad gives the Patriots more Rhamondre Stevenson insurance. On the defensive side of the ball, Thomas and Hill are two players to watch out for as potential contributors.

The work isn’t done yet for New England with 13-of-16 practice squad spots filled.

Patriots cut four more players to make room for waiver wire additions

Four more Patriots players have reportedly been released

Even after the 53-man roster was intact, the New England Patriots reportedly made several moves on Wednesday.

According to the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed, via Andrew Callahan, the Patriots released wide receiver Jalen Reagor, cornerback Isaiah Bolden, offensive lineman Michael Jordan and defensive tackle Trysten Hill.

Reagor likely wouldn’t see the field much as a receiver, but his incredible talent as a returner on special teams was believed to be enough to help him stick on the roster. The same goes for Bolden, who stuck around mostly for his special teams abilities.

Hill being released is also a bit of a surprise considering the question marks along the defensive front. The team is still missing starting defensive tackle Christian Barmore, who is still recovering after being diagnosed with blood clots.

The four players awarded to the Patriots in waiver claims were linebacker Curtis Jacobs, offensive tackle Demontrey Jacobs, defensive tackle Eric Johnson and offensive tackle Zachary Thomas.

Just because the 53-man roster is intact doesn’t mean the Patriots are going to stop making moves. The roster tinkering is an ongoing process that stretches throughout the entire season.
