Competition isn’t anything new for Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields, who will look to earn the starting job over veteran Andy Dalton as a rookie right out of the gate.
Fields has played on the biggest stages both at the high school and collegiate levels, and he’s someone that’s never shied away from the spotlight. Which is why many believe he might have what it takes to rewrite the quarterback narrative in Chicago.
According to his sister Jaiden Fields, a softball player at Georgia, competition is something that has long existed within the Fields family.
“Everything has always been a competition,” Jaiden said on The Bernstein & Rahimi Show on 670 the Score. “Ever since we were young, we were racing up the stairs or we’d get off the bus stop and see who could make it home faster. He definitely made everything a competition in our house, including my younger sister Jessica too. She’s definitely taken over that role as being really competitive. All three of us have been competitive our whole lives and have carried that over to the field and on to other parts of our lives.”
There’s no doubt that Justin will be playing with a chip on his shoulder after being the fourth quarterback selected in the 2021 NFL draft. Not that he’s one to talk about his frustrations. He’s someone that has long let his play speak for itself, which should bode well for Justin’s potential success in Chicago.
“I really look up to him, I have my whole life,” Jaiden said. “Just to see his hard work pay and get to see him become the young man that he is, I don’t think I would’ve wanted it any other way. It’s inspired me and my younger sister as well to work hard and understand that God has a plan. Any obstacles or challenges that are facing your way are there for a reason and everything turns out how it’s supposed to be. I couldn’t be more excited for him to be in Chicago. I’ve heard you guys are a really great fan base.”
And for those that have seen videos of Justin breaking out his dance moves in the Ohio State locker room, it sounds like he’s just the guy to get the players going during those post-game Club Dub dances.
“I’m going to have to give it to him, Justin is a better dancer,” his sister Jaiden said. “Just because he’s doing it all the time. But I don’t think I’m far behind him. But I will have to give that one to Justin. So make sure you all tell him to bust a move every now and then so he can expose his dancing, because I’m not going to lie, he is a pretty good dancer.”
