Jaguars release first depth chart of 2024 regular season

Jacksonville released its Week 1 depth chart Tuesday, ahead of its regular season opener at Miami on Sunday.

Six offseason free-agent signees and two rookies cracked the Jaguars’ starting lineup, across Jacksonville’s offense, defense and special teams.

Of note, the Jaguars do not list backups to starting wide receiver Gabe Davis, left guard Ezra Cleveland, tight end Evan Engram, defensive end Joshua Hines-Allen and safety Darnell Savage Jr.

Tim Jones, who backs up rookie receiver Brian Thomas Jr., is likely to offer depth at both wideout positions. So might slot receivers Parker Washington and Devin Duvernay, who worked inside and out during the preseason.

Backup interior linemen, right guard Cooper Hodges and center Luke Fortner, should similarly provide depth to Cleveland at left guard.

Jacksonville listed two starting tight ends, Engram and Luke Farrell, given the team’s tendency to operate from 12-personnel offensively. Farrell and Brenton Strange should be considered backup options to Engram in 11-personnel.

Although he is listed as a defensive end on Jacksonville’s roster, Arik Armstead is slated to start at defensive tackle with Hines-Allen and Travon Walker maintaining starting edge-rush roles.

That being said, Armstead is anticipated to play an inside-out role where he rushes from the edge on a rotational basis, a positionally flexible deployment expected to be utilized for several linemen under new Jaguars defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen.

While Savage is listed as a safety, he has primarily worked at nickel cornerback throughout training camp and the preseason. He is expected to see a significant number of snaps at that position, which is not included on the depth chart.

Antonio Johnson is projected to align at safety, where he started three preseason games, while Savage occupies the nickel role.

Kickoff between Jacksonville and Miami is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET Sunday, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla.

Jaguars reveal final preseason depth chart with small tweaks

Jaguars reveal final preseason depth chart with small tweaks

The Jaguars revealed their third and final depth chart of the 2024 preseason Tuesday, making a few minor changes on the defensive line but otherwise leaving the lineup untouched ahead of their August finale against the Falcons in Atlanta Friday.

Find Jacksonville’s newest depth chart below.

Adjustments were made only to the Jaguars’ defensive end positions.

Joe Gaziano and Breeland Speaks were added to each edge-rushing spot, with Gaziano on the third team behind Travon Walker and Trevis Gipson and Speaks on the fourth team behind Josh Hines-Allen, D.J. Coleman and Raymond Johnson.

Gaziano, who signed with Jacksonville Friday and recorded a game-sealing sack against Tampa Bay Saturday, replaced Rasheem Green on the chart, who the Jaguars cut when they signed Gaziano.

Speaks signed with the Jaguars two days before their first preseason matchup, against Kansas City on Aug. 10, waiving Dixon with an injury designation at the same time.

Dixon is now on Jacksonville’s injured reserve, although he was featured in the lineup last week while Speaks was omitted.

Speaks has recorded 1.5 sacks in 21 snaps of preseason playing time with the Jaguars.

Coleman and Johnson were each promoted, up one spot at defensive end, following Dixon’s removal from the second team and Speaks’ addition at the bottom of the list. Gaziano succeeded Green on the third team, stepping in front of seventh-round rookie and fourth-team EDGE Myles Cole.

The Jaguars and Falcons will kick off at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga.

Jaguars release second preseason depth chart

Jaguars release second preseason depth chart

The Jaguars updated their depth chart on Tuesday, ahead of their second 2024 preseason game, against the Buccaneers, this Saturday.

The depth chart is virtually unchanged from a week ago, aside from Tashaun Gipson Sr.’s addition as Jacksonville’s fifth-team free safety. Gipson stands behind Darnell Savage Jr., Andrew Wingard, Terrell Edmunds and Josh Proctor in descending order.

Jacksonville signed Gipson on Sunday, its latest depth safety acquisition after Wingard suffered a knee injury on Day 6 of training camp. The Jaguars previously added safety Adrian Amos, who joins Gipson on the fifth team, on Aug. 6.

Of note, Mac Jones maintains the No. 2 quarterback role on the depth chart, although it was third-team passer C.J. Beathard who stepped into the game upon starter Trevor Lawrence’s first-quarter exit against Kansas City on Saturday.

One of Jones and Beathard will start against Tampa Bay this weekend, with the Jaguars planning to sit their starters after two joint practice sessions with the Buccaneers between Wednesday and Thursday.

Will the Colts-Jags Week 1 game be on TV in your area?

The Colts and Jags will be duking out Week 1 and plenty near Jacksonville and Indianapolis will be able to watch.

The Jacksonville Jaguars 2020 season is almost here as the team will kickoff their campaign at home against the Indianapolis Colts. The game will be one of 10 that will start at 1 P.M. EST on Sunday, Sept. 12.

Per 506 Sports, those in the teal shaded area below will be able to catch the action as the game will be aired on CBS.

This week, there will be some familiar faces calling the game in Spero Dedes (play-by-play) and Adam Archuleta (color commentary).

The Jags are largely viewed as underdogs this week, however, one thing they have going in their favor is that they beat the Colts in their last meeting by a score of 38-20, which was the 2019 season finale. In the meeting before that (Week 10), the Colts were able to win handily by a score of 33-13.

Since their last meeting both teams have made some upgrades. In the Jags case, they leaned towards the defense a little more than the offense, landing players like Joe Schobert, C.J. Henderson, and K’Lavon Chaisson in the offseason.

On offense, Gardner Minshew II will have some new weapons at receiver in Laviska Shenault Jr., Collin Johnson, and Tyler Eifert. The Jags will also be giving undrafted running back James Robinson the nod to start, too, after the team waived Leonard Fournette recently.
