When the Colts got rid of QB Carson Wentz and added Matt Ryan, they were hoping the team would get better. It has been a struggle so far.

Coming off a 12-9 overtime victory at the Denver Bronos in the Week 5 Thursday night game, the offense has not found its way yet. While the low-scoring output can be chalked up to RB Jonathan Taylor being out with an ankle injury, the same cannot be said for Indy’s other games this season. The Colts were shut out 24-0 at Jacksonville in Week 2 when Taylor was healthy.

The Jaguars have been dismal the last 2 weeks after winning 2 games that weren’t even close – the 24-0 win over the Colts and a Week 3 win at the Los Angeles Chargers 38-10. QB Trevor Lawrence has regressed a bit since his hot start. However, his connection with WR Christian Kirk and the run game of RB James Robinson have been lacking in the recent losses.

Look for a slow, low-scoring game in Indianapolis.

PASS. The Colts (-130) are a good bet here, but I like the ATS better.

Against the spread

TAKE COLTS -2.5 (-112).

The Colts always have a tough time against the Jaguars in Jacksonville, but this game is in Indianapolis, and it should be an easier time. If Taylor sits again, I would certainly not take this number. But with him being healthy and Ryan hopefully finding a connection with his receivers, I like the Colts here against the Jaguars secondary.

Over/Under

TAKE UNDER 42.5 (-112) in this game.

Games in this rivalry tend to be low scoring and run heavy. That wil be the case here with the 2 best players in this game likely to be Taylor and Robinson. The clock will wind, and points will be at a premium. Look for another Under to hit here. This is my FAVORITE PLAY of the game.

The Jaguars are coming off their second, and by far biggest, win of the season when they stunned the Buffalo Bills 9-6 at home in a Week 9 game that featured no touchdowns. They’ve now won two of their last three games but remain 31st in scoring and 23rd in yards gained.

The Colts crushed the New York Jets 45-30 on Thursday night last week, winning easily despite New York’s best efforts to make things interesting at the end. The Colts have won four of their last six after starting the year 0-3, including three of their last four against the Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers and Jets.

Money line

The Colts are the better team on paper and despite the Jaguars’ shocking win over the Bills, Indianapolis has a big edge in this game. It’s hard to imagine the Jags winning back-to-back games against quality opponents, especially against a Colts defensive front that could give them some trouble.

Bet the COLTS (-540) to win outright against their division foes.

Against the spread

The Colts have been good when it comes to covering the spread this season, going 6-3 ATS in nine games. The Jaguars are only 3-5 but all three of those covers have come in the last five weeks.

The Colts offense isn’t very good aside from running the ball with RB Jonathan Taylor so if Jacksonville can shut down that aspect of Indianapolis’ game plan — which is possible, considering the Jaguars are third in yards per carry allowed — the Colts will struggle to cover. Bet the JAGUARS +10.5 (-117) to cover the spread.

Over/Under

The total has only gone Over in two of the Jaguars’ first eight games of the season. The Colts have scored at least 30 points in each of their last four games but Jacksonville’s defense is coming off its best performance of the season.

I like the UNDER 47.5 (-112) in Sunday’s game.

The Colts (-1100) have everything on the line and the Jags are waiting the season out. Jacksonville QB Mike Glennon, who will make his second consecutive start, was unable to get the offense going in last week’s 41-17 home loss to the Chicago Bears. That said, there is no point making a money line bet at -1100. You only win $0.91 for every $10 wagered. It’s more or less a sure thing but not worth your time. AVOID.

Against the spread (?)

The spread is a ridiculous 14 points, but the Jaguars have lost their last three games each by at least 21 points. The Colts have failed to cover the spread in their last two games but are 8-7 ATS on the season. Take the COLTS -14 (-110).

Over/Under (?)

The total is pretty high, although Jacksonville’s last two games have gone Over and five of the Colts’ last seven have gone Over. Indy’s defense is too good to let Glennon do much without wideout Robinson. The Colts will roll but will cruise to a win. So, they won’t score enough to make up for the Jags’ weak offense. Take UNDER 49.5 (-110).
