A five-star prospect and one of the nation’s top-ranked quarterback prospects in the class of 2024 is set to return to Clemson Saturday night.

Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day School’s Jadyn Davis announced via social media Saturday morning that he will be in The Valley for tonight’s game against N.C. State at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Staidum.

This will be Davis’ first visit to Clemson since he participated in the Dabo Swinney Camp this summer and picked up the offer he had been waiting on.

The Clemson Insider spoke with Davis at the Elite 11 Regional in Atlanta at Carrollton High School, back on Sunday, April 3. It was then that Davis recapped his latest visit to Clemson, which took place on Saturday, March 12. It was his first time back on campus, since he was in attendance for Clemson’s 48-27 win over Wake Forest on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, at Memorial Stadium.

“It was great,” Davis said, “just always talking to Coach (Brandon) Streeter. He didn’t leave my side one bit. I got to go there with my new high school head coach (Chad Grier). Me and D.J. (Uiagalelei) have a really good relationship, so seeing him again, just always building chemistry and connection with the guys and just building a relationship with the coaches.”

2024 five-star QB visiting UNC for season opener

2024 five-star quarterback Jadyn Davis will be on the sidelines for UNC football’s season-opener on Saturday night.

The UNC football season begins on Saturday and there will be one key visitor on the sidelines for the Tar Heels.

2024 five-star quarterback [autotag]Jadyn Davis[/autotag] will be in attendance for the Tar Heels game against Florida A&M.

Davis is ranked No. 5 overall in the Rivals250 class of 2024 rankings. He is the No. 1 overall player in North Carolina, playing for Providence Day. The Tar Heels are one of the newer teams to get involved in his recruitment.

Davis has offers from Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State and Oregon among many others.

With so many programs around the country trying to get involved with Davis, Rivals national recruiting analyst Adam Friedman recently broke down his recruitment.

“We could also see Davis’ recruitment become a bit more clear with Manning now off the board. Michigan really helped itself during his visit to Ann Arbor this month, but Clemson will be heavily involved. Georgia is a team to watch for because of Davis’ ties to the state. LSU, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, Penn State and Florida State are a few others to keep in mind as his recruitment unfolds.”

As a sophomore, Davis played for Fort Mill Catawba Ridge (SC), which went 6-5 in South Carolina’s 4A classification. In nine games, he completed 54.5 percent of his passes for 1,732 yards with 14 touchdowns to go with six interceptions.

Five-star QB and UNC football target sets big visits

This UNC football recruiting target and five-star quarterback Jadyn Davis is visiting Georgia and Michigan this week.

While the UNC Football program will go into the 2022 season with a battle between Drake Maye and Jacolby Criswell for the starting spot, the future of the position is within upcoming recruiting classes.

And one target that UNC has on their 2024 board is five-star quarterback [autotag]Jadyn Davis[/autotag].

The Charlotte, North Carolina native is ranked as a five-star recruit and a top 20 player overall per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. He has a total of 31 offers in his recruitment so far including from UNC, Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Michigan among others out there. Davis has already visited UNC in the past and now, he’s set to be on campus for a pair of big visits.

Per Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports, Davis has visits set for Michigan and Georgia this week.

It’s very early in Davis’ recruitment and there is no clear frontrunner but if UNC wants to keep him in state, it’s going to take a lot. The Tar Heels will have to beat out top programs like Clemson, Michigan, Alabama, and Georgia among others.

Each Quarterback and Running Back the Oklahoma Sooners have offered in the 2024 recruiting class

With the focus on 2023 this summer, let’s take a look at the quarterbacks and running backs the Oklahoma Sooners have offered in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Oklahoma’s had a lot of success recruiting the quarterback and running back positions since in the school’s history. Though the style of player has changed from the dynastic eras of the Bud Wilkinson and Barry Switzer days, Bob Stoops and Lincoln Riley’s Oklahoma Sooners were able to attract some of the best skill players the country has had to offer.

Since the turn of the century, Oklahoma’s had some of the best offensive players the game has seen, as evidenced by their four Heisman trophies, several finalists, and highly productive rushing attacks.

And now with Jeff Lebby running the show, Oklahoma’s going to continue that run of highly skilled offensive players at the Palace on the Prairie.

The Sooners have a nice group of quarterbacks to work with over the next couple of years with [autotag]Dillon Gabriel[/autotag], [autotag]Nick Evers[/autotag], [autotag]Davis Beville[/autotag], and [autotag]General Booty[/autotag] on the 2022 roster and [autotag]Jackson Arnold[/autotag] coming in 2023.

At running back, Oklahoma is also looking really good with [autotag]Eric Gray[/autotag]. [autotag]Marcus Major[/autotag], [autotag]Jovantae Barnes[/autotag], and [autotag]Gavin Sawchuk[/autotag] on the depth chart for 2022 with four-start running back [autotag]Kalib Hicks[/autotag] to come in 2023.

While the Sooners continue their push for the 2023 recruiting class, let’s take a look ahead to see who they’re targeting in 2024.

4-star Carolinas wideout has ‘great’ experience at Clemson camp

Among the standout wide receivers who had the chance to showcase their talent on the first day of Dabo Swinney Camp on June 1 was Channing Goodwin — a 6-foot-1, 180-pound rising junior Charlotte’s (N.C.) Providence Day School.

“It was great honestly,” Goodwin told The Clemson Insider regarding his Swinney Camp experience. “I got to go down there with my (quarterback) Jadyn (Davis) also. They offered him that day as well, so I know that was huge for him. I feel like me and him both performed well at camp, being able to throw to each other on 1-on-1s and all that, so it was great.”

What type of feedback did he get from Tyler Grisham?

“It was great with him,” Goodwin said of Clemson’s wide receivers coach. “Jadyn, of course, his situation is a little bit different than mine, but he just told me to be patient. He definitely still showed interest, but I know they don’t offer too many guys early. His overall message was to just be patient and stay in touch with him.”

When Clemson formally turned the page to offering prospects in the 2024 class on June 1 and started doling out offers to rising junior recruits, Grisham didn’t hand out a wide receiver offer until 10 days later.

Since then, both Grimsley (Greensboro, N.C.) four-star Alex Taylor and Cummings (Burlington, N.C.) four-star Jonathan Paylor are the only receivers in their respective class to report offers from Clemson.

With that being said, what would an offer from Clemson mean for Goodwin and his recruitment?

“It would be great,” Goodwin said regarding a potential offer from the Tigers. “I’ve been going to Clemson camp since eighth grade. I’m actually from Columbia, South Carolina, where the Gamecocks are at, but I’ve always known that Clemson is a great school. I grew up with that rivalry and the whole time, Clemson’s been on top. That would definitely mean a lot.”

Goodwin saw his teammate and five-star quarterback receive an offer from the Tigers prior to the June 1 morning session at Swinney Camp. While Davis didn’t formally announce the offer until later in the afternoon, he was able to gain further rapport with one of his top targets at one of the top college camps in the country.

“It was great, we had already talked about it a little bit,” he said. “I mean, me and him, we work together all the time. It was just another day at the office. We’ve already had our time together and all that, it was just a matter of performing out there.”

Goodwin’s performance obviously caught the attention of Grisham.

“I met a lot of receivers coaches, but he definitely stands out,” Goodwin said. “You can tell he’s a great coach. I feel like he has a really good ability to teach. Every year I go to camp, I feel like I leave better as a football player. I honestly believe that. He always gives me something to improve myself every time.”

After he visited Clemson, Goodwin made his way to the University of Michigan, along with Davis and his fellow receiver counterpart at Providence Day, 2024 four-star Jordan Shipp. Goodwin’s father, Jonathan, played his college football in Ann Arbor and later enjoyed a 13-year NFL career, spending time with the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers.

As of now, Channing doesn’t have any plans to make any other visits this summer. Clemson was the only camp that Channing went to because he’s gone every year and wanted to continue that tradition. He also worked out with Ron Bellamy, the wide receivers coach at Michigan

Right now, Channing, who 247Sports considers to be the nation’s No. 16 wide receiver and the No. 102 overall prospect in the class of 2024, is focused on getting ready for his junior season at Providence Day.

LOOK: Five-star quarterback target rocking Michigan football gear

Maybe #Michigan hasn’t missed out on an elite 2024 QB after all. #GoBlue

Michigan football may have lost out on a very important five-star quarterback in CJ Carr — grandson of former Wolverines head coach Lloyd Carr — when the legacy spurned his family school for Notre Dame on Thursday. However, that doesn’t mean that the maize and blue are without hope in the 2024 cycle at the position.

As Michigan keeps working on trying to land Dante Moore in the 2023 class, there’s but another five-star in 2024 that has high interest in coming to Ann Arbor, and he’s showing that off on Friday night.

Taking part in the OT7 camp in Las Vegas, along with the aforementioned Moore, Charlotte (N.C.) Providence School five-star signal caller Jadyn Davis isn’t hiding the fact that Michigan is one of his high choices. The Wolverine’s EJ Holland is on-site, and snapped a video of Davis wearing maize and blue cleats as well as sporting a Wolverines towel.

The On3 Consensus lists Davis as the No. 6 player in the country in 2024, regardless of position. Michigan offered Davis in May 2022, and it’s the only school listed by 247Sports as ‘warm’ of the schools pursuing the elite prospect.

It finally happened.

Clemson extended an offer Wednesday to a five-star prospect and the nation’s top-ranked quarterback. Providence Day School’s (Charlotte, N.C.) Jadyn Davis announced the offer from the Tigers via social media Wednesday afternoon.

After working out at the Dabo Swinney Camp Wednesday, Davis picked up the offer he had been waiting for.

TCI spoke with Davis at the Elite 11 Regional in Atlanta at Carrollton High School, back on Sunday, April 3.

Davis had a pretty in-depth conversation with Clemson coach Dabo Swinney while he was back on campus. According to Davis, Swinney was just telling him about Clemson’s recruiting philosophy.

“I know they offered Sammy (Brown) in my class (2024), which is pretty rare, so that shows you how good of a player he is,” Davis said. “Just to come back for the summer, hang out and we’ll have some good news.”

Davis certainly had some good news to pass along Wednesday.

He’s now the second quarterback that Clemson has offered in this class.

Swinney Camp Notebook: Day 1, Morning Session

It’s that time of the year again.

The Clemson Insider was on hand for Day 1 of the Dabo Swinney Camp on Wednesday, June 1. Here are our notes and observations from the morning session of Wednesday’s Swinney Camp:

— The group of quarterbacks that headlined Wednesday’s morning session was unparalleled. Providence Day (Charlotte, N.C) five-star Jadyn Davis was obviously the main attraction, but other top quarterbacks impressed as well. In addition to Davis, Calvary Day School (Savannah, Ga.) four-star Jake Merklinger, Columbus (Miami, Fla.) four-star Adrian Posse and Bellvue (Neb.) West three-star Daniel Kaelin were among the other top prospects in attendance.

— Other quarterbacks to make note of were two prospects in the class of 2025: Collins Hill’s (Suwanee, Ga.) TJ Wilcox and Houston County’s (Warner Robbins, Ga.) Antwann Hill.

— It should be noted that Davis doesn’t need to be out there. He’s the nation’s No. 1-ranked prospect and quarterback and Clemson has seen him throw in person countless times. It’s clear that he wants that offer and speaks to his character. There’s mutual interest there and Clemson could certainly still offer Davis, even after offering Willis (Texas) five-star DJ Lagway on Tuesday.

— The wide receivers were also an impressive group, highlighted by Powell (Tenn.) 2023 three-star Ayden Greene, Daniel (Central, S.C.) 2023 Jaylen Brown-Wallace, Providence Day (Charlotte, N.C.) 2024 four-star Channing Goodwin and Grimsley (N.C.) four-star Alex Taylor.

— Some tight ends that we’ve written about in the past definitely stood out. Marian Central Catholic (Woodstock, Ill.) 2024 four-star tight end Christian Bentancur and Benedictine (Richmond, Va.) 2024 three-star Luca Puccinelli are even bigger in person.

— There was one 2024 running back that we wanted to make note of in Stockbridge’s (Ga.) Jayden Scott. The fast-rising back was receiving a lot of attention from Clemson running backs coach CJ Spiller, as he worked out with the top group.

— There was definitely one offensive lineman that stood out among the rest in St. Edward’s (Lakewood, Ohio) 2024 four-star offensive tackle Ben Roebuck. The 6-foot-7, 230-pound lineman currently ranks as the No. 5 offensive tackle in the nation for the class of 2024, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

— We also caught Alpharetta (Ga.) 2023 offensive tackle Obadiah Obasuyi walking in. He certainly looks the part, standing at 6-foot-7, 275 pounds. Obasuyi currently holds offers from schools like East Carolina, N.C. State and Georgia Tech.

— An athlete that made the trip was Christ School (Arden, N.C.) 2023 four-star Zack Myers. He worked out with the defensive backs and is somebody that we will definitely be monitoring during the afternoon session.

— We learned this afternoon that Clemson told Buford (Ga.) 2024 five-star athlete KJ Bolden, not to work out. We didn’t notice Bolden out there and he informed us that he wouldn’t be participating in today’s camp. Rather, he has a meeting scheduled with Clemson coach Dabo Swinney later, which could culminate in some good news coming Bolden’s way.

— It should be noted that Bolden, the nation’s top-ranked athlete in the class of 2024, being on campus Wednesday is a big deal. Bolden has several suitors who would’ve loved to get him on campus, but the fact he chose Clemson certainly speaks to how he feels about the program and his chances of earning an offer.

It’s time for this week’s edition of The Insider Report.

We hope everyone had a great weekend.

Another 5-star QB will be on campus this week

After revealing some names in our Monday morning preview of Day 1 of the Dabo Swinney Camp come Wednesday, June, 1, we’re ready to disclose another five-star visitor in Providence Day (Charlotte, N.C.) 2024 QB Jadyn Davis.

After speaking with multiple sources this past weekend and leading into Monday morning, The Clemson Insider has learned that Davis will be visiting and camping at Clemson Wednesday, along with his teammates — 2024 four-star WR Channing Goodwin and 2024 three-star safety Brody Barnhardt.

TCI spoke with Davis at the Elite 11 Regional in Atlanta at Carrollton High School, back on Sunday, April 3.

Davis wouldn’t go as far as to say that he’s expecting an offer once he’s back on campus. Rather, he’s learned to temper his expectations when it comes to recruiting. Though, he made sure to reiterate that he’s really interested in Clemson and knows that Swinney and staff are very interested in him.

Previewing Day 2 of Swinney Camp

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney’s annual summer camp is set to kick off with the first one-day camp this Wednesday, June 1, with another one-day camp to follow on June 2 and then a three-day camp from June 10-12.

With the Swinney Camp about to get underway, The Clemson Insider gives a preview of the first day of camp and some of the prospects planning to make their way to Tiger Town to compete during Thursday’s second session:

One of the headliners, who confirmed their visit to TCI this past weekend and again on Monday is Willis (Texas) five-star DJ Lagway, the No. 4 ranked quarterback for the 2024 class, per 247Sports, which tabs him as the No. 18 overall prospect in his class regardless of position.

When we spoke with Lagway earlier this month, he indicated that a scholarship offer from Clemson could come when he visits campus in June. He’s had those conversations about a potential offer dating back to when he visited in April.

“That was a conversation we had from the very beginning since I got there when I got down there on campus when I went to Coach Swinney’s house,” Lagway said. “It’s just the way they run things, they just want to keep the process smooth and keep the way they’ve been doing things.”

“That would be huge,” he continued. “That would be a blessing to have an offer from Clemson and all that good stuff. It would change a lot with my top five.”

In addition to Clemson, Lagway is looking to visit Oklahoma, Oregon and probably Alabama.

“I’m just trying to go see all the out-of-state schools that I’m interested in,” Lagway said, “just to give them a chance as well. Because, I’m really open to anything and everything, just to see where I feel like I’m at home and where I’m most comfortable.”

Other top prospects who will join Lagway in competing at the Swinney Camp on June 2 – to name some – are North Oconee (Bogart, Ga.) three-star defensive back Khalil Barnes, Moody (Alabama) three-star wide receiver Davion Dozier, Carrollwood Day School (Tampa, Fla.) four-star DB Tavoy Feagin, St. Joseph’s Prep School (Philadelphia, Pa.) four-star cornerback Omilio Agard and Lipscomb Academy (Nashville, Tenn.) four-star CB Kaleb Beasley

Agard — the nation’s No. 6 cornerback in the 2024 class, per 247Sports — has been in contact with Clemson cornerbacks coach Mike Reed for the past nine months, as he works to earn an offer from the Tigers, which he told TCI would “show his worth to Clemson.”

“Their process is different and I really appreciate that process, because if you get that offer, it’s like you’ve been building a relationship and it’s very genuine and the coaches believe that you will be a big part of the team,” Agard said. “So, to get that offer is amazing because it just shows how great of a person you are in and out. It just shows that they’re very genuine.”

Beasley told us that he hadn’t locked in a visit to Clemson just yet, but also indicated that he “might” go on June 2.

Additionally, we originally reported that Grayson (Loganville, Ga.) 2024 four-star tight end Kylan Fox would be on campus come this Thursday, but have since learned that he will be at the University of Georgia instead. That doesn’t mean a visit to Clemson isn’t in the cards; Fox was invited to camp by tight ends coach Kyle Richardson and may just reschedule a visit any time between June 10-12.

Following is a list of prospects TCI has confirmed as expected participants in the second session of the Swinney Camp on Thursday, June 2. Of course, this is not a full list of campers but rather some of the notable names planning to be there, and as always, these lists are fluid and subject to change.

The latest on Monroe Freeling

TCI checked in one of Clemson’s primary offensive line targets in the class of 2023.

Monroe Freeling — a priority offensive line target out of Mt. Pleasant’s Oceanside Collegiate Academy — quietly shut down his recruitment during finals, as he wanted to focus on his end-of-year exams and not have to worry about juggling the two.

He has since tapped back into things and said that he’s focused on his top seven schools: Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Michigan.

Freeling has scheduled two official visits this summer to Notre Dame and Miami. He told us that he can’t go to Clemson’s official visit weekend from June 3-5 because it falls during his parent’s anniversary.

Though, he didn’t rule out making an unofficial visit to Clemson this summer.

“I’ve also been up there so many times, it also just felt like I really could just do an in-season official visit,” he said. “It’d feel like it’d make a lot more sense, but it’s still undecided.”

Freeling all but guaranteed that he would eventually make an official visit to Clemson. What it really comes down to for him and his family, is being able to get everyone up to Tiger Town at the same time.

“It’s kind of been a steady relationship,” Freeling said. “I was talking a lot more to Coach (Thomas) Austin from the jump than I was talking to Coach (Robbie) Caldwell. I think that definitely helped…the relationship’s still there, I think it’s just a matter of seeing Coach Austin — I might go up to a camp or something and try to see more of what his coaching’s like. That’s all I can really say.”

Clemson in good position with 4-star Florida LB

This past weekend, TCI caught up with Navarre (Fla.) 2024 four-star linebacker Zavier Hamilton. As it stands right now, we believe Hamilton to be a prime candidate to earn an offer in the coming weeks.

“They just want to get me up there as soon as possible, pretty much,” Hamilton said. “They still love me. They love how personal I am. I’ve been talking to them pretty much every week, every Friday. It’s just been great building that relationship and they just want to see me come up there to camp and I could see an offer that day.”

Hamilton will be back at Clemson on June 10.

What would a potential offer from Clemson mean for Hamilton and his recruitment?

“That’d be huge,” he said. “Clemson would be in my top three. I love everything about them. I love their culture. It would mean even more to me if I could get that offer in-person because I like establishing relationships before I get the offer.”

As far as the remainder of Hamilton’s recruitment is concerned, he has some top schools in mind. He mentioned to us that Notre Dame, Clemson and Virginia Tech are among his top contenders, and in addition to his Clemson visit, he’ll be in South Bend this weekend from June 3-5.

Surprisingly, Hamilton, a rising junior, told us that he will “definitely” be making a decision before the season. There are a few places that he would already consider home, but Hamilton wants to use this summer to evaluate some top options.

While Hamilton was only focusing on schools that have already offered him a scholarship, there’s something different about Clemson. He’ll gladly camp there in two weeks and have the opportunity to not only workout with Wesley Goodwin, but earn a scholarship offer from the Tigers.

Top UNC QB prospect sets official visits to other programs

One of the best quarterbacks in the 2024 recruiting class has set some visits to Clemson, Georgia and LSU.

One player the UNC football staff has as a priority is five-star quarterback [autotag]Jadyn Davis[/autotag]. The North Carolina product is not only one of the top quarterbacks in the 2024 class but he’s one of the top overall players in the class.

Davis is a top target for the Tar Heels as they hope to continue to land top quarterback talent following Sam Howell’s departure. But they have some tough competition.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Davis has a total of 27 offers from programs like UNC, Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, LSU, Georgia, Ohio State, and Notre Dame among others.

Davis has been on UNC’s campus a few times now and will be back in the coming months. However, he’s also setting visits to other programs and has set up Summer visits to LSU, Clemson, and Georgia per Steve Wiltfong:

Davis recruitment doesn’t appear to be coming to an end anytime soon and him visiting other programs is going to happen. The key for UNC is to get him back on campus and continue to develop that relationship.
