Report: Brennan Rigsby, Jadrian Tracey open up about futures in Oregon

Guard Brennan Rigsby and small forward Jadrian Tracey are set to play in Eugene for the 2024-25 season.

The Oregon Ducks men’s basketball season ended with a second-round loss to Creighton in double overtime and the off-season has officially begun.

Players are going to start to announce their future plans and the first Ducks to announce their intentions is guard Brennan Rigsby and Jadrian Tracey. According to James Crepea of The Oregonian, both players plan to stick around for one more season.

“Oregon is definitely a place I want to be,” Rigsby said.

Tracey repeated Rigsby sentiment as he said he wants to return to Eugene for the 2024-25 season. Both players will be seniors.

Head coach Dana Altman has repeatedly said that he wants players who want to be at Oregon and earn their degrees. It looks like Rigsby and Tracey are two of those types of players.

For the 2023-24 season, Rigsby, a De Beque, Colo. native played in all 36 games, starting 13 and averaged six points per contest. Rigsby also shot 35 percent from the field.

Tracey came to Oregon via SouthWestern Community College in Florida. He played in all 36 games, started 22 contests where Tracey averaged 7.6 points a game, and shot 36 percent from the three-point line.

MBB Recap: Ducks go cold down the stretch and fall to the Bruins

Oregon’s offense goes cold in the final five minutes and the Ducks fall to the Bruins 71-63 in Los Angeles.

If Oregon misses the NCAA tournament, the Ducks will probably look to this one game as the reason why.

In somewhat of a must-win game, the Ducks were unable to hit shots down the stretch inside Pauley Pavilion and UCLA was able to come away with a critical 71-63 victory.

With the loss, Oregon dropped to 15-7 overall and out of first place in the Pac-12 with a 7-4 record, 1/2 game behind Arizona.

This was one of the strangest games you’ll see this college basketball season as the Ducks found themselves down by 18 in the first half only to rally and take a 34-33 halftime lead.

Both the Ducks and Bruins traded baskets for most of the second half, but UCLA managed to go on a 13-3 run to end the game after it was 58-58 with just 5:23 left.

N’Faly led the Ducks with 16 points and eight rebounds while Jadrian Tracey added 15 points, 13 of those coming before halftime. His trio of treys brought the Ducks back into the game in the first half as the Bruins threatened to run Oregon out of the building.

Dylan Andrews led all scorers with 21 points. Most of his nine made shots came from the elbow off of a screen. UCLA ran that same play on Oregon’s defense more than a few times and killed the Ducks with that 15-foot jumper all night.

Sabastian Mack added 16 for the Bruins and Laz Stefanovic scored 15.

It was a missed opportunity for the Ducks to get a road win onto their resume and to get a nice road sweep in Los Angeles. Perhaps everyone should have known this wasn’t destined to occur even before the game as the Ducks were stuck on the team bus for over an hour due to the presidential motorcade.

Oregon arrived at the arena just a half hour before game time. UCLA was able to delay the official start time by 25 minutes to give the Ducks the proper time to warm up.

Unfortunately, it took a bit for the Ducks to get their legs under them. UCLA raced out to a 23-5 lead in the first 7:30 of the contest.

Now the Ducks will travel back to Eugene where the Washington schools await. The Huskies are first up on Thursday before taking on the Cougars on Saturday.

Ducks have reportedly shown interest in intriguing transfer portal option

Dana Altman and the Ducks have reportedly shown interest in intriguing transfer portal option from Northern Colorado.

With the college basketball season over for over 99 percent of teams in the nation, it’s no surprise that the transfer portal has started to head up over the past couple of weeks. Already we have seen a couple of players — Tyrone Williams and Kel’el Ware — announce that they would be leaving Eugene and searching for a new team going forward.

Neither of those announcements came as a major surprise, and more people are expected to leave the Ducks this offseason as well. In turn, we can absolutely expect to hear some names of players transferring to Oregon as well. Already, Jadrian Tracey has announced that he will join the Ducks in 2023, coming from Florida Southwestern State.

There are other players who the Ducks have shown interest in as well. The latest player is former Northern Colorado player Dalton Knecht, according to a report from CBB writer Sean Paul. Knecht is an elite scorer who averaged 20.2 points per game last season.

Here’s what you need to know about him:

Ducks get commitment from JUCO sharp-shooter Jadrian Tracey

The Ducks picked up a commitment from Jadrian Tracey on Monday, a JUCO player who shot 43% from 3FG in 2023.

The Oregon Ducks got a nice addition out of the transfer portal on Monday, landing a commitment from small forward Jadrian Tracey, a sharp-shooter from Florida Southwestern State.

At the JUCO level, Tracey turned some heads in the 2022-23 season, averaging 14.4 points per game while shooting over 44% from the floor. More notably for the Ducks, Tracey shot 43% from deep, taking 4 three-pointers per game.

After his season with the FSW Buccaneers, Tracey got some notable D1 offers, including from Oregon, St. Bonaventure, and Rhode Island.

Tracey started his high school career at Riverdale before transferring to Orlando’s West Oaks Academy in 2020. There, he averaged 16 points and 5 rebounds per game and won a state championship before committing to St. Joseph’s in Philadelphia. After one season at St. Joseph’s, Tracey transferred back to his home state and enrolled at FSW, where he saw his basketball career take off.

We don’t yet know what the Ducks’ roster will look like entirely going into next season, but with confirmation that both Nate Bittle and Jermaine Couisnard will be coming back, getting the addition of Tracey will be solid as well.
