Report: Jets are ‘highly motivated’ to sign edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney

The New York Jets have an intense interest in signing Ravens free agent pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney, according to Jordan Schultz

The New York Jets have retooled their offensive line, and they’re now looking to add a premier pass rusher to an already stout defense.

Jadeveon Clowney just visited the AFC hopefuls, and the Jets are “highly motivated” to finalize a deal, according to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report.

A native of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Clowney starred in Columbia with the Gamecocks before becoming a consensus All-American and the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.

With the Ravens in 2023, he ranked fifth in pass-rush win rate among edge rushers. He tied his career high of 9.5 sacks and had 50 quarterback hurries, 10 quarterback hits and 69 quarterback pressures.

He had career highs in pressure rate, pass-rush win rate and total pressures in a season.

Titans’ Kenny Vaccaro tries to recruit Jadeveon Clowney

Clowney has yet to find his landing spot this offseason.

The Tennessee Titans have made some solid offseason moves between the 2020 NFL Draft and free agency.

But one player who has still yet to find his next landing spot is former Seattle Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney.

The Titans have shown interest in Clowney as he’s remained unsigned, as highlighted by coach Mike Vrabel’s comments in an interview with NFL Network’s Dan Hellie earlier this year.

“Sure, sure,” Vrabel said in response to a question surrounding if the Titans could sign Clowney. “Jon and I are trying to do everything that we can to improve our team. A player of his caliber would certainly probably do that, so we’ll continue to talk,” Vrabel explained. “I’ve got a lot of faith in Jon and I appreciate his willingness to allow me to have input into the roster and have some of these discussions with him.”

Recently, Titans safety Kenny Vaccaro made his own attempts to recruit Clowney.

Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan also did something similar back in June.

It will be interesting to see where Clowney ultimately lands, but it’s clear he’s not in a hurry. Regardless of where he lands, he should be expected to bring an instant boost to the defense.

Wild Card Weekend Schedule: Eagles to host Seahawks on Sunday January 5

Eagles to host Seahawks on Sunday at 4:40 p.m.

The NFL playoffs are set and in the NFC, the Eagles will get a rematch of their 17-9 loss to the Seahawks, as Seattle will travel to Philadelphia as the No. 5 seed.

With the Seahawks having to travel cross country, the NFL didn’t want Seattle to have to play Philadelphia, on a Saturday night, coming off a short week.

The No. 1 seeded 49ers would then face the lowest seed to advance, so if the Eagles were to upset the Seahawks then Philadelphia would travel to San Francisco, while the Saints or Vikings will travel to Green Bay.
