5 things to watch: How the Browns can end their two-game skid and take down the Jaguars

Here are the key factors to watch for as the Browns look to bounce back at home against the Jaguars

Sitting at 7-5 on the season, the Cleveland Browns desperately need a bounce-back win this Sunday as they return to Cleveland Browns Stadium. The task does not get easier, however, as they are set to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, the Browns look set to get cornerback Denzel Ward back on the field, while the Jaguars may be fielding a banged-up Trevor Lawrence (who is questionable and a game-time decision).

The Jaguars sit atop the AFC South, battling with the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans for control. The Browns are second in the AFC North with a firm grasp on a wildcard spot. With a win, the Browns could see their playoff probability skyrocket to right around 80 percent as they could find themselves firmly in the driver’s seat toward their first postseason birth since 2020.

Looking deeper into this Week 14 showdown between the Browns and Jaguars, here are five key aspects of the game that likely decide it.

Browns Wire Staff Picks: Can Cleveland rebound at home vs. Jaguars?

The Jaguars may not have quarterback in Trevor Lawrence, but the Browns have quarterback uncertainty of their own. Who wins this game?

After dropping two games in a row out west, the Cleveland Browns return home looking for a big win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Sitting at 7-5, the Browns still control their own destiny toward a wildcard spot, but a win over the Jaguars puts them firmly in the driver’s seat. As the Jaguars have questions about the health of their quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the Browns have an opportunity to capitalize.

The Browns, however, have some quarterback uncertainty of their own entering this matchup. While it is expected that Joe Flacco will start after taking the majority of first-team reps this week, rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson has also cleared the concussion protocol. Head coach Kevin Stefanski has declined to name a starting quarterback for this Week 14 showdown.

How does our Browns Wire staff think this game will go? Here are our staff predictions as the Browns look to lock in their eighth win of the season at Cleveland Browns Stadium on Sunday.

Jaguars confirm their home game against the Browns was to be in London

Jaguars confirm their home game against the Browns was to be in London but will now be in Jacksonville in Week 12

The Jacksonville Jaguars confirmed this week what was a long-running rumor about the 2020 NFL schedule. In a communique with season-ticket holders, the Jaguars management revealed the two home foes that were originally scheduled to play in London instead of Jacksonville.

One of those is the Cleveland Browns. As many speculated, the Browns were indeed poised to play across the pond in 2020 as one of the Jaguars opponents. The Detroit Lions were the other.

Cleveland now plays at Jacksonville in Week 12 on Nov. 29th. That is a different date than the two teams would have faced off in England, because teams are required to have a bye week following travel to Europe and the bye weeks end in Week 11. All international games were cancelled and forced back to the United States due to the coronavirus pandemic earlier this spring.
