Former Colorado OL Jack Bailey joins Bill O’Boyle at Northwestern

Jack Bailey has found a transfer portal destination

Colorado football transfer offensive lineman Jack Bailey announced Friday via X that he has committed to the Big Ten’s Northwestern Wildcats, reuniting him with Bill O’Boyle.

O’Boyle coached Bailey at Kent State from 2019-22 before both made their way to Boulder for one season last fall. After initially following former CU offensive coordinator Sean Lewis to San Diego State in December, O’Boyle was named Northwestern’s OL coach on Jan. 11.

As for Bailey, he’ll be playing his sixth and final college football season with the Wildcats. The 6-foot-3, 280-pound guard started in all 12 games for the Buffs last year, recording three games with a PFF pass-blocking grade above 80.

One year after winning only one game in 2022, Northwestern surprised many last fall by winning eight games, including a 14-7 victory over Utah in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Other former Colorado offensive linemen to enter the transfer portal this offseason include Jack Wilty, Van Wells and Gerad Christian-Lichtenhan.

Colorado offensive guard Jack Bailey enters portal

Jack Bailey, who started in all 12 games last season, has entered the portal

After starting in all 12 games last season, Colorado football offensive guard Jack Bailey has entered the transfer portal, On3 reported Wednesday.

Bailey, a 6-foot-3, 280-pound graduate student, transferred from Kent State to Boulder about two weeks before CU’s spring game last year. With the Golden Flashes, he played for former Buffs offensive coordinator Sean Lewis from 2019-22.

During his lone season at Colorado, Bailey allowed only one quarterback hurry and had three games with a PFF pass-blocking grade above 80. The Buffs’ offensive line certainly struggled for much of 2023, but Bailey proved to be a reliable starter for head coach Deion Sanders.

This offseason, Colorado and new offensive line coach Phil Loadholt have brought in several transfers, along with five-star incoming freshman Jordan Seaton. Portal offensive linemen to join the Buffs include Tyler Johnson (Houston), Justin Mayers (UTEP), Yakiri Walker (UConn) and Kahlil Benson (Indiana).

CU Buffs add Kent State OL Jack Bailey via transfer portal

The #cubuffs added another Kent State transfer

The Colorado Buffaloes football program continues to add talent even with spring ball underway. The roster overhaul with Deion Sanders in town has been tremendous, and it continued with another Kent State player following former head coach Sean Lewis, who is the current OC at Colorado.

Offensive lineman Jack Bailey announced his commitment to Colorado, per his own Twitter page.

Bailey is a versatile lineman who started at guard the past two years for Kent State, and this is another massive addition to a revamped roster in Boulder.

Lewis also seemed thrilled about the move and even retweeted Bailey’s announcement.

The Buffs’ OL is looking loaded for the 2023 season with a ton of additions, and they now have nine players who started at the college level in the 2022 season.

With Shedeur Sanders running the show at quarterback, Jimmy Horn Jr. and Travis Hunter at wide receiver and Kavosiey Smoke at running back, the Buffs’ offense has a ton of potential for the upcoming season.

Jack Bailey should immediately enter practice as a projected OL alongside former Kent State teammate Savion Washington.
