Tennessee (6-0) enters its fourth week of the 2024-25 college basketball season. The Vols have won all six of their contests to start the season.

Tennessee sophomore forward J.P. Estrella announced an injury update on Monday. The 6-foot-11, 250-pound forward will miss the remainder of the season due to a foot injury.

“Vol nation, I’m disappointed to share with all of you that, unfortunately, my 2024-25 season is over,” Estrella announced. “I’ll be getting surgery on my left foot. This has been a lingering injury and it’s important to get it addressed.”

Estrella appeared in three games for the Vols this season, averaging 4.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.

No. 12 Tennessee will tip off its 2024-25 basketball season against Gardner-Webb on Nov. 4.

Tennessee won the 2023-24 SEC regular-season championship and advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament for a second time in school history.

During the preseason, Vols Wire profiles players on Tennessee’s 2024-25 men’s basketball roster. This installment will feature J.P. Estrella.

Estrella, a sophomore forward, enters his second season with the Vols.

Last season, the Scarborough, Maine native appeared in 25 games for Tennessee.

Estrella recorded 40 points and 10 rebounds while playing 124 minutes during the 2023-24 season. He converted 15-of-21 field goal attempts and a .714 field goal percentage, the second best in the SEC among players with at least 20 attempts.

No. 7 Tennessee (13-4, 3-1 SEC) defeated Florida (11-6, 1-3 SEC), 85-66, Tuesday at Food City Center.

The Vols led, 44-32, at halftime and never trailed in the contest.

Tuesday’s contest was Tennessee’s sixth consecutive victory over the Gators in Knoxville.

Dalton Knecht totaled 39 points, including 22 in the first half, and eight rebounds.

Jonas Aidoo recorded 19 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks, two assists and one steal. Tobe Awaka had eight rebounds and J.P. Estrella, seeing his first action in four games, finished with seven points.

Zakai Zeigler had seven points, four assists and three rebounds for the Vols.

Walter Clayton Jr. led the Gators with 16 points.

Jonas Aidoo leads Vols in victory against George Mason

No. 13 Tennessee (5-3) defeated George Mason (7-2), 87-66, Tuesday at Food City Center.

The Vols had four players score 10-plus points.

Jonas Aidoo totaled 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while Josiah-Jordan James recorded 15 points, six rebounds and six assists for Tennessee.

Tobe Awaka recorded 11 points and seven rebounds, while Dalton Knecht finished the contest with 10 points, three rebounds and two assists for the Vols.

Jordan Gainey, J.P. Estrella and Santiago Vescovi scored seven points each.

Zakai Zeigler, making his first start of the 2023-24 season, finished with six points, six assists and one rebound.

Darius Maddox recorded 15 points and five rebounds for the Patriots.
